*Rare* c1915 Turkish ‘N.C.O.’s’ Short Sword and Steel Scabbard. ED 2681. - ED 2681
This is a rare Turkish N.C.O.’s short sword with a 14” spear point blade. The blade has Turkish scripture etched to one side and is showing minor age related wear. The hilt has a brass down swept quillon and a ‘D’ shaped knuckle bow with a brass back strap and ribbed wooden grip. It is contained in its black steel scabbard which is sadly missing its frog stud. The scabbard has numerous age related marks, but this does not affect its structural integrity. See page 217 of ‘World Swords’ by Harvey J.S. Withers for an identical example. Post 1952 QE II British Royal Artillery Officer’s Sword With Gilt Brass Hilt, Etched Blade By Wilkinson Sword With Leather Cord & Acorn Portepee & Scabbard With Leather Field Cover & Sam Browne Pattern Frog. Sn 16721 - Sn 16721
This is an original British Royal Artillery Officer’s Sword and Scabbard. The Sword made post 1952 has a clean slightly curved, steel single edged blade which is 33” in length with central fullers (39 ½” overall). The blade is crisply etched with foliate panels on both sides together with ‘Crown E II R’ (Queen Elizabeth II Regina), heraldic arms and Royal Artillery devices . The ricasso is marked on one side by the manufacturer Wilkinson Sword, England with crossed swords legend and Royal appointment. It has a gilt brass voided bar knuckle guard and stepped pommel. The back strap is stippled for grip. The sword’s fish skin grip with wire binding is undamaged. Attached to the guard is its leather cord and acorn. The sword is complete with its leather bound wood field scabbard which is fitted with Sam Browne pattern leather frog which has buckles & straps. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 16721

Wilkinson Commemorative Sword and Green Leather Scabbard Thought to be 'Twenty Fifth Anniversary of the Channel Islands Liberation'. 19961. - 19961
The blade has had the markings removed, but the basis of the sword and green leather scabbard is that of the 'Twenty Fifth Anniversary of the Channel Islands Liberation' which a limited edition was made by Wilkinson Sword craftsmen to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Channel Islands Liberation 1945-1970. The Channel Islands were occupied during World War II by German forces from 30 June 1940, until May 1945. They were liberated by British forces following the general German surrender. Considered not defendable by the British government in 1940, the islands were demilitarised and some civilians were given the opportunity to evacuate to England before the German forces arrived. The island leaders and some civil servants were asked to stay in their posts to look after the civilians in their care. 41,101 remained on Jersey, 24,429 on Guernsey and 470 on Sark. Alderney had just 18. Apart from undertaking a few commando raids, the islands were ignored by the British government until June 1944 when additional attacks on German shipping and radar units took place. To avoid starvation of civilians, permission was given for Red Cross parcels to be sent to the islands during the winter of 1944-45. Liberation would have to wait until the end of the war in Europe. The sword has a double edge plated steel blade with the acid etching having been removed *see pictures* It has a gilt metal crossguard, pommel and a very nice wire bound green leather grip *slight wear to one side*. The blade measures 32 ¾ "long. The green scabbard has only minor signs of age related wear and the brass furniture is intact. The price includes UK delivery. 19961. (Rack)

MATCHING MAKER MARKS British WD 1889 Dated 1856 Pattern Mole Birmingham Pioneer’s Saw Back Short Sword Sidearm With Brass Hilt Regiment Marked ‘V.3.N.F’ To TheVolunteer Northumberland Fusiliers & 1895 Scabbard By Mole To ‘V.4.SK.’ Suffolk Vols. - ED 2671
This is an excellent 1856 Pattern British Pioneers Saw Back Short Sword Sidearm (see page 173 of Robson's Swords of the British Army). It has a broad 22 ½” long blade with deeply cut sawback (27 ¾” overall). The blade has staining consistent with age and service use. The spine of the blade has crisp maker Mark ‘R (Robert) Mole (Birmingham)’ and inspection mark. One side of the blade has British WD with arrow mark and other ordnance inspection marks. It has the correct heavy ribbed Brass handle with full knuckle bow, slotted for lanyard. The top of the rolled cross guard is crisply Regiment marked ‘V3. N.F 8’ To The 3rd Volunteer Northumberland Fusiliers Weapon Number 8’ & dated ’12 (December) 1889’. The sidearm is complete with original leather scabbard with brass mounts. The throat mount has matching maker mark ‘Mole’, date ‘9 (September) 1895’ and is Regiment marked ‘V.4.SK.7’ to the 4th Volunteer Suffolk Regiment weapon number 7. The leather & stitching of the scabbard are intact. The leather has just surface scuffs consistent with age and service use. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2671

An original early example of a British 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword (see page 159 of World Swords by Withers). It has its regulation brass hilt with correct early variant rigid shell guard. Later variants of the 1796 Infantry sword had folding clamshells. It has the correct knuckle bow. urn shaped pommel and as is common its quillon finial is absent. It has a wire bound grip, all very tight and undamaged. It has a 32 ½” long blade with fullers. The spine of the blade is marked by the German manufacturer ‘J.J. Runkel Solingen’. The blade is etched on both sides. The etchings include ‘Crown GR’ (George Rex), martial and heraldic arms and foliate devices. The blade is undamaged and has just light staining consistent with age. This is a superb French Or German Form Gentleman’s Sword made C1750. The 31” steel blade has staining and patina consistent with age. The blade is engraved on both sides with running Hunting dogs or Lions, Martial arms and banners and ‘1475’ within panel (Most likely an early blade re hilted in the 1700s). The brass shell guard knuckle bow and pommel are heavily decorated on all surfaces with feasting scenes. The leather covered grip is copper wire bound. *Rare* c1800 French Infantry Guard’s Sword and Brass Scabbard. ED 2628 - ED 2628
This is an original rare to find example of a c1800 French Infantry Guard's sword (see page 187 of World Swords by Withers). Our excellent example has the correct Georgian styling with brass guards with correct chased decoration. It has the correct brass knuckle bow and feathered helmet shaped pommel. The wire bound grip is excellent and retains its original quillon finials. All wire is tight and intact. It has a 31” long un-fullered blade with original leather hilt washer (37 ¾” overall). The blade has staining consistent with age. The sword comes with its rare to find original brass scabbard with two hanging rings has age related marks. C1750 English Ornate Brass Hilt Small Sword With Flat Diamond Section Blade. Sn 19235 - 19235
The small sword (also court sword, French: épée de cour or dress sword) is a light one-handed sword designed for thrusting which evolved out of the longer and heavier rapier of the late Renaissance. The height of the small sword's popularity was between mid 17th and late 18th century. It is thought to have appeared in France and spread quickly across the rest of Europe. The small sword was the immediate predecessor of the French duelling sword (from which the épée developed. This is a nice original C1750 small sword (see page 277 of Wither’s book ‘World Swords’ where a small sword with similar brass hilt dating to C1750 is illustrated). It has an ornate brass hilt with part bowl guard, knuckle bow and ball top. The slim 28 ½” flat diamond section blade is straight and undamaged and has just light staining consistent with age. The blade has no maker or date marks. The sword measures 33 ¾” overall. As is common our example is without scabbard. The price for this attractive small sword includes UK delivery. Sn 19235
