Conditions of Sale and Trading with JC Militaria Ltd.
Please read our conditions of sale carefully. They are not excessively demanding and are there to ensure safe trading between us. Nothing in these conditions affects your statutory rights. They will be updated as and when issues are raised and best practice identified. (May 2014)
JC Militaria Ltd is registered firearms dealers and holds a current authority from the Greater Manchester Police. However it is company policy that we do not offer for sale any item that requires any form of license to possess within the UK or license to export from the UK.
Sales of edged weapons, air weapons, de-activated firearms and munitions will not be made to anyone under the age of 18 years. Proof of age will be required.
JC Militaria Ltd. reserves the right to decline to trade with or sell any items to prospective customers at their discretion.
1. Business Hours & Visitors.
1:1 JC Militaria Ltd is open for business between 7am and 5pm Monday – Saturday. Orders can be placed via the web site 24 x 7 and will be processed as soon as practicable. Orders are taken chronologically and if two customers order the same item the first order takes priority. Delivery within the UK is usually within 1 working day of payment being made in full.
1:2 JC Militaria Ltd does not have retail premises [shop] which are open to the public; it is primarily an internet based business which combines with advertisements in trade magazines and standing at UK Militaria shows (a list of which can be viewed on the home page)
1:3 JC Militaria Ltd does have business premises in Stockport Cheshire which can be visited by invitation and by prior appointment. This would normally be arranged to enable customers to purchase, examine or collect items of our stock and importantly, to sell items to the business.
1:4 Customers should contact the office direct by either telephone or E mail to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
2. Guarantee
2:1 We strive to describe all items fully and accurately and with the aid of photographs provide a clear view of each item and its condition. We offer a guarantee that if a customer is not satisfied in any way with the item or items received the item or items can be returned for a full, no quibble, refund within 7 days.
2:2 Customers should be aware that changes in their circumstances; indecision or merely ‘changing their mind‘following receipt of goods will not entitle them to a refund.
2:3 Please note that although we make every effort to keep our website up to date it is possible that an item offered for sale may have been sold or become unavailable before we have updated the site. In this case we will advise you accordingly and return any payment made and work with you to find an alternative.
2:4 We must be informed by telephone or email that the item is to be returned as soon as possible after it has been received. In the case of U.K. based customers returns must be made within 7 days of receipt. European based customers within 10 days of receipt. All other parts of the World within 14 days of receipt of order.
2:5 All payments made with the exception of postage costs will be refunded. All items returned must be in the same condition as dispatched, if there is any damage, alteration, disassembly or tampering then JC.Militaria Ltd reserves the right to decline to refund payment.
3. Payment Options
3:1 We accept all major credit and debit cards with the exception of American Express. We do not allow payment on-line. This is due to legal restrictions both domestic and international in relation to age and delivery requirements; also export / import restrictions. Customers are given personal attention and contacted directly regarding payment.
3:2. We also accept credit card, chip and pin, in person at the Militaria fairs which we attend. Goods ordered from the web site can be paid for using a credit card by contacting us during business hours on 0161 476 0436, international 0044 161 476 0436. A 2% surcharge is added for all credit card payments. Debit card payments and payments by cheque do not attract any additional charge.
3:3 Cheques, postal orders, sterling international money orders, should be made out to JC Militaria Ltd. Sterling cash, Euros cash and U.S. dollars cash, at an agreed exchange rate, are also accepted. Cash payments should be sent by recorded or special delivery to our registered company address.

3:5 Direct bank transfers, in sterling only, are accepted; please contact us for the IBAN and BIC numbers.
3:6 PayPal invoices can also be generated for specific goods; this does not include deactivated weapons or munitions due to PayPal restrictions. PayPal payments attract a 4% charge which is added to the total when payment is made by this method. We will send a money request when asked to do so.
3:7 Overseas customers may also make payment with a Sterling International money order.
3:8 Unless an order is subject to a previously agreed lay-away plan [section 5] payment is due immediately. As a general rule no item will be reserved without a 20% deposit.
3:9 New customers please allow 10 days for bank clearance on your remittance before dispatch is affected. Thereafter returning customers may expect dispatch by return of post.
4. Postage and Shipping
Orders will not be dispatched until full payment has been received.
4:1 When purchasing from the shopping basket on the web site the total amount includes all U.K. domestic shipping charges.
4:2 We reserve the right to surcharge any orders that are of an extreme weight or size. .Normally a note to the effect that ‘delivery will be by arrangement and at cost’ is added to description of any stock item which falls into this category.
4:3 Deliveries outside the UK will be subject to an additional cost which will be detailed and agreed at the time of order. Goods including deactivated firearms, inert munitions and items requiring an export licence for delivery outside the E.U. will be consigned via a specialist carrier. Details and charges will be supplied at the time of order on a delivery location / goods specific basis.
4:4 JC.Militaria Ltd does not accept responsibility for un-insured damage, loss in transit or breakages which occur once goods have been dispatched. We take every care to pack items safely for posting. We always obtain proof of postage and where possible utilize special or recorded delivery in the UK .For international orders sent by Royal mail we use trackable ‘Airsure’ or ‘International Signed For’ priority airmail. Once posted we cannot control delivery however we can prove that items have been sent. Please ask for additional insurance if you require it.
4:5 Deliveries within the UK will be by Royal Mail. We also have contracts with specific carriers for deliveries within the E.U. and for the rest of the world. Full details and costs will be supplied at the time of ordering.
4:6 JC Militaria Ltd will export any goods offered for sale worldwide; however this is subject to any legal restrictions that may exist in the country of destination. Purchasers must confirm that the items ordered can legally be imported and possessed in the country to which they are being sent. The purchaser of any items ordered must indemnify JC Militaria Ltd from any legal requirement at the point of delivery.
4:7 Goods that we believe may cause disruption to the postal service when sent via air mail will be dismantled and sent surface mail. Such items will be accompanied by confirmation that those good are safe, inert, deactivated and / or free from all explosive content. Customers will be advised of the likely time delay before delivery.
4:8 Currently deactivated weapons, antique weapons, edged weapons, air rifles – under 12fps and air pistols –under 6fps. Do not require any export licence by the UK authorities.
4:9 A full pack of transit documents will be affixed to the outside of any package containing an antique weapon, air weapon, deactivated weapon or inert ammunition / ordnance for the benefit of customs agencies within the E.U.
5. Reserved Goods/Layaway Plan
5:1 Subject to a 20% non returnable deposit, goods may be reserved and paid for on our ‘lay-away’ plan. This is not a higher purchase agreement and no additional costs are involved.
5:2 As a general rule, on ordering and agreeing to purchase on the ‘lay-away’ plan 20% of the total is required and the balance within 3 months of the deposit being paid. Payment can be made at any time up to and including the 3 month period.
5:3 Orders will be despatched following receipt of the outstanding balance.
5:4 Defaults on payment will result in the return of payments made less the initial deposit. In these circumstances deposits are forfeit; they are not transferrable to other goods or customers.
6. Air weapons
6:1 Air pistols and air rifles manufactured after 1939 are subject to the restrictions on sale and delivery within the UK imposed by the Crime Reduction Bill. In any event we will not sell any air weapon to anyone under 18 years of age. The Crime Reduction Bill does not apply outside the UK.
6:2 Delivery of Post 1939 weapons within the UK will be made in person or via a Registered Firearms Dealer nominated by the customer. Any administrative charges imposed by that R.F.D. will be paid by the customer on collection.
6:3 Delivery of Vintage Air Weapons manufactured prior to 1939 can be made direct by carrier or by post. However this will only be done where we are satisfied that the vintage air weapon is being purchased as a curiosity, ornament, collector’s item or as a part of a display only. In all other cases section 6:2 applies.
6:4 Where air weapons of any age are purchased for use, the condition at 6:2 in respect of delivery will apply. Prospective customers of air weapons manufactured prior to 1939 will be asked to confirm their reason for purchasing before dispatch.
6:5 Air Rifles and Pistols which we sell are sold as collectable items; we do not sell modern or pre-charged air weapons or any air weapon which exceeds the current UK un-licensed maximum of 6 fps for pistols or 12 fps for rifles. Attention should be given to the description of each specific weapon to determine its condition and status.
6:6 We do not sell spares; air weapons are sold in a serviceable condition and as described on the web site. Following delivery and examination the standard return policy applies; no extended warranty is given or implied.
7. Commission Sales
7:1 JC Militaria Ltd will undertake commission sales. However we reserve the right to accept or decline goods offered to us on this basis. The standard of militaria must adhere to the quality and originality of comparable militaria already advertised on our site.
7:2 The sale price will be agreed between the vendor and JC Militaria Ltd prior to the item being offered for sale.
7:3 The minimum charge for this service is 20% of the sale price of each item or £50, whichever is the greater. This includes all costs, advertising, administrative charges and postage; there are no additional charges.
7:4 Following a sale payment of the remittance will normally follow the ‘return period’ specified in section 2 under our Guarantee.
7:5 Should the vendor request the return of their items prior to sale, following listing and advertising, the minimum fee of £50.00 per item will be payable to JC Militaria Ltd to cover the costs of administration and advertising prior to their return.
8. V.A.T.
8:1 JC Militaria Ltd is registered under the UK [second hand and antique dealers] Special Margin Scheme. Our V.A.T. number is 902049459.
8:2 Customers are not charged V.A.T. on any item which they purchase from JC Militaria Ltd and NO V.A.T. is recoverable by them on items purchased from JC Militaria Ltd.
