Victorian / Edwardian Gentleman’s Malacca Sword Stick With Diamond Section Blade & Hand Carved Antique Ivory Fittings. Sn 12014 - 12014
An excellent original Victorian / Edwardian era Gentleman’s Sword Stick. It has a 13” diamond section blade and measures 21 ¾” overall. The diamond section blade has some staining consistent with age. It measures 34 ¾” overall in its scabbard. The handle has an antique Ivory pommel with hand carved ‘basket weave’ decoration. The neck of the handle has an antique Ivory ferrule carved with matching ‘basket weave’ design and steel scabbard retaining clip. The Ivory has nice aged patina & no cracks. Victorian Leeds Constabulary Police Mallaca Sword Stick With Sterling Silver Hall Marked Collar Presented By Officers Of The B Division To Newly Promoted Sgt John Frankham 24th April 1886 With Stag Antler Handle & Scabbard. Sn 12742 - 12742
This is an attractive Victorian presentation Sword Stick. The Curved stag antler handle has a large 1 ½” length silver hallmarked collar which is beautifully hand engraved ‘Leeds Constabulary presented by Officers of the ‘B’ Division To P.C. John Frankham as a token of esteem on being promoted to Sergeant 24th April 1886’. The silver hallmark is indistinct (all illustrated). It has a flat diamond shaped 26” blade and measures 32 ¾” overall length (35 ¼” in its scabbard). The blade has natural aged staining consistent with age. The blade tapers to a pin sharp point. A ‘Namban’ Style Iron Tsuba for a ‘Tanto’ (Dagger). ED 2699. - ED 2699
Namban means foreigner in Japanese. This Tsuba is made from very hard iron. These were made in various locations from the 16th & 17th Centuries. Nagasaki, Kyoto and Hizen. They were also made in trading enclaves off the coast of China in the 17th Century. This Tsuba looks to be late ‘Edo’ 1780 into the 19th Century. With ‘Tsukashi ‘piercings of dragons and ‘Tama’. A ‘Tanto Dagger’ Tsuba (A tsuba is a sword guard and part of a sword mounting. It is mounted between the sword's blade and grip to protect the user's hands) made from iron depicting a boatman and wild geese or ducks. It has a lovely wet look to the iron with good patination. This is possibly ‘Aizu Shoami’ work from the early 19th Century or slightly earlier. The open ‘Hitsu’ identifies this as a ‘Meta Zashi’ style Tsuba. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2697.

A decorative brass ‘Tsuba’ (A tsuba is a sword guard and part of a sword mounting. It is mounted between the sword's blade and grip to protect the user's hands) replicating ‘Choso Guard’. Measuring 6 ½ cm long and 6 ¾ cm wide the ‘Nakago Ana’ measures 26mm x 7.5mm at its widest point. In the shape of regal bird, possibly a peacock. This Tsuba adorns a blade very nicely. A nice small Iron ‘Katana Tsuba’ (A tsuba is a sword guard and part of a sword mounting. There is a depiction of a Goose in flight to the surface. It has a lovely black iron look and appears to be early 19th Century age into ‘Meiji’ period, possibly ‘Nara school work’. A Katana Tsuba (A tsuba is a sword guard and part of a sword mounting. It is mounted between the sword's blade and grip to protect the user's hands) in iron with a lovely dark patina and colour with a slightly hammered and rounded rim. The tsuba depicts a bamboo grove in the rain with brass inlays. It has been mounted on a sword but is in excellent condition. British Officer’s 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry / Mounted Artillery Officer’s Sword With Etched Blade By Lewis Sons & Parker London To Scottish Dundee Volunteer Artillery & Scabbard. Sn 20244 - 20244
The Scottish City of Dundee artillery battery was a territorial unit of the Royal Field Artillery part of the 2nd Highland Brigade. Their HQ was at Dudhope drill hall Brown Street Dundee. This is an original 1821 pattern Volunteer Artillery Officer’s sword to the Dundee Volunteer Artillery & Scabbard (see page 94 Of Swords Of The British Army by Robson & page 99 of World Swords by Withers). It has a 32 ¼” blade with fullers and measures 38” overall. The blade has original leather hilt washer. It has the correct fish skin grip with wire binding which is intact and tight and correct 3 bar guard hilt. The blade is etched on both sides with foliate panels together with ‘Dundee Volunteer Artillery’, ignited grenade device , cannon & martial arms. The ricasso is marked on one side by the maker ‘Lewis Sons & Parker St James’s St London’ and the reverse with ordnance star and inlaid roundel. The blade has staining consistent with age. The steel scabbard with 2 hanging rings, fixed belt bar and German silver throat piece has no dents and just staining / patina consistent with age. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 20244

This is an original WW1 era brown leather covered wood Swagger Sword Stick & Scabbard in the form popular with British Officers during WW1. It has a 12 ¼” rectangular shank steel blade which tapers to a sharp point. The blade has just light staining consistent with age. It measures 20 ¼” overall in its scabbard. The wood grip & scabbard are bound in brown leather. All leather and stitching are clean & intact. The leather has some scuffs and scratches consistent with age and service use.
