INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an original Kynoch 10 round box of Holland’s .375 Magnum big game rifle cartridges containing 6 ROUNDS. The rounds are headstamped (K) KYNOCH HOLLANDS .375 MAGNUM. And have a brass percussion primer. The brass cartridge cases crimped onto a nickel jacketed 270 grain steel pointed bullet. DEACTIVATED INERT. This is a Pre War 10 round pack of DWM (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionfabriker AC) 8x57JS ammunition manufactured at the Karlsruhe factory. This pack of 8x57JS ammunition contains 10 rounds of soft point ammunition that was used in various German bolt action rifles and was able to be chambered for the later larger S bore (0.323”) Mauser G98 rifles. The cartridge cases are made of clear lacquered steel and are headstamped DWM * 8x57JS * and are fitted with a steeped nickel jacketed lead round tipped bullet, the ammunition is contained in a buff cardboard carton where the individual rounds are separated by cardboard compartments. The carton has a white trade label with the manufacturers name DWM (Deutsche Waffen und Munitionfabriker AC) printed on it together with the contents description. There are also two red labels on the bottom of the box with black printing on them ‘Achtung! Nur fur S-laute (Kal. 7.89. 8.20 mm). This refers to the ammunition not being suitable for the earlier and smaller J 8mm bore. DEACTIVATED INERT. This is a Pre War 10 round pack of RWS (Rheinisch-Westfälische Sprengstoffwerke) of 8x57JR Sinoxid hunting ammunition m. In 1926 RWS concluded a working agreement with I. G. Frabenindustrie AG of Frankfurt. Development of a stainless, non-corrosive priming composition, named Sinoxid at the Stadeln factory. This pack of 8x57JR ammunition contains 10 rounds of soft point ammunition that was used in various German double rifles and drillings. The ammunition being rimmed hence the R in the specification. The cartridge cases are made of clear lacquered steel and are headstamped RWS 8x57JR and are fitted with a nickel jacketed lead round tipped bullet which are separated by a folded thin card zig zag partition. The J specification means having a 0.318” bullet which was used by the military until the spitzer 0.323” bullet was adopted. The buff cardboard box has a trade label on the front RWS 10 Patroned 8x57JR Normallsiert SINOXID QUECKSILBERFREI ROSTFREI EROSIONSSICHER. This is an UNOPENED box of bland cartridges for the .450 revolver made at Kynoch Factories of Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd. The box is a green and red blue box which can be seen through an oil stain on one side showing the colours underneath. This box is covered in a thin brown paper outer wrapper which has a green label stuck on with the designation of 200 black powder cartridges for the .450 revolver. The wrapper is sealed by brown paper strip of gummed paper. These cartridges will also fit the .455 chambered revolvers. The box has a black ink stamp in the top right hand corner 23 I P. The 23 is usually a date stamp and in this case will probably mean the date 1923. One end of the box has a red ink stamp consisting of a letter P within a circle. The box measures approximately 5 ½ by 3 ¼ by 2 7/8 inches. This is a collection of assorted wire shotgun muzzle loading cartridges that were manufactured to slow the scatter of shotgun pellets when fired from an unchoked bore of the early muzzle loading shotguns. The cartridges were manufactured from the 1830s and continued up to the First World War. The wire cartridges use declined with the use of a choked bore, introduced to keep the shot pattern a greater distance from the muzzle. This is a collection of various wire shotgun cartridges, most are marked Eley and Joyce together with the cartridge bore and shot details, whilst one is unmarked. The smallest bore cartridge is 17 bore and the largest is 5 bore. The pack consists of 12 shot cartridges that were manufactured to slow the scatter of shotgun pellets when fired from an unchoked bore of the early muzzle loading shotguns. This paper pack of 12 patent wire cartridges has Eley’s green label on one end which has printed on it in black 14 (gauge) 1 ¼ (weight of the shot) 6 (pellet size). The pack holds 12 patent wire cartridges which have a paper outer with a cloth tab on one end and an orange round label on the other which has printed on it 14 GAGUE BOTTOM. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a British whale tracking dart which was introduced after 1923 by the Discovery Committee. The darts were used by the RSS Discovery to research the diminishing whale population. The darts were fired by a 12 bore shotgun and the date and location recorded. If the whale was harpooned and caught, the dart would be recovered and sent to the Discovery Committee. All the darts were serial numbered and this one is numbered 46793. The dart is engraved 46793 REWARD FOR RETURN TO DISCOVERY BRITISH MUSEUM (NAT. HISTORY) LONDON AND 46793, the serial number. When recovered dart was returned to the Discovery Committee, the reward would be given. The dart is complete with its original 12 bore cartridge case which is headstamped FIOCHHI ITALY 12. The dart is mounted on a red baize covered board and is complete with its original label.
