Rare, WW2, 1944 Dated 2cm Flak (20x138B) 100 Round Tin Lined Ammunition Box For ammunition in cardboard tubes. O 1343 - O 1343
This is a rare WW2, 1944 dated tin lined wooden ammunition box to contain 100 rounds of 20mm (20x138B) ammunition for the Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun. The rounds were originally contained in disposable cardboard tubes, one of which is illustrated. The substantial lid to the wooden box has two metal hinges and two locking closure clasps. The ends of the box have two recessed metal folding carrying handles fitted. The box measuring 67 x 26 x 21 cm in size and retains much of its original green painted finish and its original waterproof tin liner which has traces of solder on it used to retain the tear off lid. The box has metal screwed on reinforced corners to all of the corners. The front of the box has the remains of two paper labels, one stuck on top of the other which would have been done when the box of ammunition was re issued. Both ends of the box are stencilled in large letters 2 cm. There are two paper labels inside the lid box. The first refers to 100 rounds of 2cm Sprenggranat-Patron (high explosive) ammunition and the other label refers to the fuse (A.Z.1502) and the tracer. This label is dated 24 Jan 1944. The lid is also stencilled Gepruft Abn, (checked) and handwritten in ink 75 Schuos gezahlt any 4.4.44.. (75 shot (rounds) paid (received?)). DEACTIVATED INERT This a WW2 (1942 dated) German 15mm MK 151/20 (15x96) APT (Armour Piercing Tracer) aircraft cannon round fitted to various German aircraft during WW2. The lacquered steel cartridge case is percussion primed and retains about 60% its original finish. The headstamp is edq (Munitionsfabriken AG, Luebeck-Schlutup) 36a 42 Waffenampt 66 . The armour piercing tracer projectile has a copper driving band and retains some of its original black finish. The brass cased round is headstamped, 20/40 T. (Tikkakoski arsenal) E5 41 (1941 date). The unfired armour piercing tracer projectile has a single copper driving band and retains most of its original blue painted finish. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a rare Prewar, 1939 Dated Soviet 20mm (20x99R) ShVAK TYPE OZ HEI (High Explosive Incendiary) aircraft cannon round. The gun was developed in 1935 and was the main Soviet heavy aircraft gun throughout WW2 and was used in various aircraft including the Yak-1, Yakovlev Yak-3, Yakovlev Yak-7B, LaGG-3, Lavochkin La-5 and La-7, the Petlyakov Pe-3 , Pe-3 and the Ilyushin Il-2. It was also used in theT-60 and T-38 armoured vehicles. This round has a drawn brass cartridge case which is headstamped 187 M 39 (1939 Date). INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an early 1976 American drill round for (30x173) GAU-8 7 barrelled Gatling aircraft gun fitted to the Republic A10 tank buster aircraft, produced from 1977 and is capable of firing 4,200 rounds per minute. The alloy cartridge case has an orange lacquered finish and is stenciled in white 30MM over PGU -16 over P/N 400/05 over AOMC AJD 31-1 over DATE 8-76 (August 1976). The gold lacquered steel projectile has two nylon driving bands and appears to have a dummy alloy fuse. The dummy fuse is stenciled in black AJD-30-2-76 . There are two crimp rings at the case neck. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an unused 1939 dated WW2 German 20mm Flak 38 dummy round resembling the Armour Piercing round for the Soluthern 20mm Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun . This gun was used singularly or in the Quad Vierling 38 mount as an anti-aircraft weapon. The brass cartridge has a slotted screw in the primer pocket and no crimping to the case mouth. The headstamp is P (Polte Armaturen- u. Maschinenfabrik AG, Magdeburg, later renamed 'Polte-Werke') S (in a triangle) 22 39 (1939 date). The projectile is made of turned steel. This is an unfired German Kriegsmarine Masden 20x120 HET (High Explosive Trace) Round for the Masden 20mm automatic cannon developed in Denmark in the 1920s for the 20mm Madsen automatic cannon, offered in various mountings for aircraft, AA and anti-tank use, although only successful in the AA role. These guns were used by the Kriegsmarine in an anti-aircraft role after capture and used German made ammunition, This percussion primed green lacquered steel cased round is headstamped asb (Deutsche Waffen- u. This weighted steel drill round is nickel plated and retains 95%+ of its original finish, The headstamp is H42 Waffenampt and a manufacturers monogram within a 4.5mm circle .
