INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a Japanese WWII Type 2 1/3 Kg hollow charge air dropped HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) cluster bomb used by the Japanese Air Force during WW2. The bomb consists of a steel hollow charge warhead that retains much of its original black paint with a 10mm wide yellow band round its circumference. The mid-section is made of alloy tubing and with a pressed steel hexagonal fin assembly at the rear. There is a brass arming vane in this lower section. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a rare, unfired German WW2 King Tiger and PaK 43 ani tank gun, 8.8cm (88 x 822R) High Explosive (HE) round complete with its original wooden transit case for the KwK43 tank and PaK 43 anti tank guns. The 8.8 cm KwK 43. versions of this gun were mounted in a number of German armored vehicles under different designations, including the Tiger II, Elefant, Jagdpanther tanks and Nashorn tank destroyers. The round has a steel cartridge case with two ring crimps to the case mouth. The high explosive projectile is fitted with two sintered iron driving bands. The round is fitted with a steel AZ23 nose impact fuze which retains much of its original green painted finish. The fuze has a delay screw on the side and is stamped round its circumference AZ23 awl (Union-Gesellschaft fur Metallindustrie, Sils Van de Loo & Company, Werk Werl, Frondenberg/Rhur) 43 (1943 date). The lid of the wooden transit case is stenciled in black 8,8cm Pzgr. 38/43. The front of the case is stenciled Kwk.43 Pattr. 8,8 cm Pak 43 u.43/1/2 Pak. 43/41. There is also a white paper label at the front of the case 8,8cm Pzgr Patr 38/43 2-44 (February 1944 date) Kw.K.43 Pk43 und 43/1/2/3 Pak 43/41. The wooden transit cases lid is secured by two steel clamps and two steel hinges. There is damage to one end of the packing box. See page 162 – 170, Hogg, German Artillery of World War Two. DEACTIVATED INERT. The 12 Pounder 18 Cwt gun was introduced as a anti torpedo gun in the late 1900s and was carried on many Royal Navy warships. The gun used a separate projectile and cartridge case where the projectile was loaded first with the brass cartridge case following. The gun was also used on land in the early 1900s as an artillery piece. The cartridge case had 3 fold down lips at the case mouth to hold the charge in place and a protruding screw in brass primer in the base. In the second world war, the gun was put to use defending British harbours and was used on civilian ships impressed into the navy e.g., Armed trawlers and merchantmen. This is a mint steel projectile, machined from solid bar is wrapped in a heavy brown canvas, stitched at the vertical seam to protect the rifling of the gun and has a steel screw in nose plug with washer in the nose. The plug is stamped with a crowfoot PII/IV No 11 JHR and UN in a hexagon and in use could be unscrewed to fit a nose time or impact fuze. The base of the projectile is stamped DRILL OF 12PR 18CWT III/N 3.43 (March 1943 date) P (practice). Drill round are one of the hardest to find and mint unused examples even harder due to their service use. Collection of 4 British WW1 Fired Copper Driving Bands off 9.2 Inch & 6 Inch Siege Howitzer High Explosive Projectile. - O 2168
This is a collection of 4 WW1 driving bands from fired WW1 high explosive projectiles that have exploded and left the copper driving bands as shrapnel. The longest driving band is 29 inches long and is engraved with 56 grooves which is off a 9.2 inch BL (Breech Loading) Siege Howitzer which was used extensively in the First World War. The other 3 driving bands are off 6 inch guns. The first one has polygroove rifling and is off a 6 inch 30cwt BL Siege Howitzer. The other 2 have 36 grooves in the driving band and was used with the 6 inch 26cwt BL Siege Howitzer. Both of these guns were used in trench the First World War. Due to the good condition of the driving bands, they were obviously a bring back from the First World War and not dug up. The gun was introduced as the QF 1 Pounder Maxim Pom Pom in British service in the late 1880s and was used to great effect in the Boer War as did the Boers with their German made 1 pounder pom pom guns. This is an Vickers Son & Maxim high explosive round with a brass cartridge case is fitted with a copper percussion primer and carries no headstamp. The nose of the projectile is fitted with a brass Vickers percussion fuse. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is Rare a WW2 German Kriegsmarine 8.8 cm SK L/35 (88 x 390R) U-Boat deck gun high explosive nose fused round. These guns were the standard deck gun of the type VII U boats from 1935. The steel cartridge case has the following head stamp, 43 (1943 date) aux (Polte-Werk, Magdeburg) 8,8-35St Marine waffenampt. The screw in primer is stamped C/12nAST 42 91942 date) 104 akb . The unfired steel high explosive projectile has a single copper driving band and is stamped 131 (marine waffenampt) bqo 3 41 (March 1941 date) 3c KPS . The projectile has a screw in base plug stamped 94 30 and a marine waffenampt. The screw in bae of the projectile is stamped 11h/41 bdo, WR in a circular monogram 3988 marine waffenampt.. The projectile is fitted with a Kz36 alloy nose fuse and is stamped Kz/36 1/43 T/3 . The paper and pressed cardboard charge bags from the projectile are included with the round. This round is complete with its rare alloy transit container with a quick release lid made of alloy, with a brass locking ring and a steel turn handle. Inside this lid is a pink circular label describing the round, (see photo). The metal turn handle assembly is stamped nkc over 194? This is riveted to the lid securing a brass locking ring. The alloy lugs on the transit container are stamped Sorst 1938 marine waffenampt followed by 88Abk 786. The alloy body if the transit container has corrosion holes but is intact and sturdy. This is an unfired British Vickers Naval 2Pr (40 x 158R) Pom Pom high explosive time fused anti-aircraft round for the Vickers 2pr anti-aircraft gun fitted to British naval ships during WW1. The brass cartridge case is headstamped 2Pr.1 MDCo 19.8.16 (date) C and a crowfoot CF (Cordite Full Charge) NC. The cartridge case is fitted with a umber 5 percussion primer which is stamped No5 IA 5/15 (date) B (Birmingham Metals Limited). The steel copper driving banded projectile is stamped 2Pr F.S. EADIE 7-16 (July 1916). The rear is stamped with the naval N, a crowfoot and various other inspection marks. This is a unfired German High Explosive (HE) round for the 105mm (105x658R) SK C/32 Naval Gun fitted to type 1 IX and X type U-boats, various minesweepers and capital ships in the German Navy. The gun was also used for coastal defence and as a anti aircraft gun. The steel cartridge case retains much of its original grey lacquered finish and is headstamped 10,5cm 32St 4 (Polte-Werk, Magdeburg) amp (Dortmund Hoerder Huettenverein, Dortmund) 73 41 (1941 date) Marine waffenampt. INERT DEACTIVATED. German WW2, 1937 Dated 3.7cm PAK 36 (37x250) HE (High Explosive) round with the rare early two piece brass and steel cartridge case. The brass and steel cartridge case consists of a brass body and a steel base which is headstamped P (Polte Armaturen- u. Maschinenfabrik AG, Magdeburg, later renamed Polte-Werke) 1937 (1937 date) 6331-1/67 waffenampt 406. The base of the cartridge also has 4 equally spaced 4mm diameter holes. The steel base has a steel screw in C/13St percussion primer which is stamped C/13St 3JUN 842. The unfired steel projectile has an iron driving band with a tracer cavity and retains its original grey painted finish with original stencilling. The projectile is stamped round the circumference dzs 6d. the projectile is stencilled in black VL 26.1943 (date) 32 176 cwg (Westfaelisch-Anhaltische Sprengstoff AG, Coswig plant) 6.43 (June 1943). The projectile is also stencilled in white round its circumference FES (iron driving band). The round is fitted with an alloy AZ39 fuze which is stamped AZ39 d 42 (date) 130 waa345.
