This is an Italian WW2 47mm armour piercing round for the 47/32 infantry/anti tank gun. The gun was introduced in 1935 and was the standard infantry/anti tank gun used by the Italians, especially in the Desert war in North Africa. This round has a steel cartridge case and is headstamped GR&C within a diamond, 2 over 94?, 47/32, a crown over 1cUT over 40 within an oval (1940 date). The armour piercing projectile has a narrow copper driving band and retains it original red painted nose and a yellow band underneath.
