*Vintage* Lyman ‘All American Hunting Scope’ USA 34mm 4X Fixed Focus (No Mounts) OPT 857. - OPT 857
The proud tradition and history of Lyman Products began simply in the late 1800’s when William Lyman, an avid outdoorsman and inventor, created a product that resolved problems with gun sights of his day. The commonly used vernier sights were adequate for daytime shooting, but almost useless if lighting was not perfect. Lyman’s No. 1 Tang Sight featured a small disc and a large aperture, a combination that made the thin rim almost invisible and greatly improved the shooter’s vision. His patented design launched the Lyman Gun Sight Company, and today, the Lyman tang and receiver sights still utilise the same principles originated over 137 years ago to enhance both the sight picture and the speed of aiming. This c1980 34mm 4X fixed focus reticule crosshair rifle scope is all steel, showing minor age-related scuffs. The lenses are scratch free. The price for this collectable scope includes UK delivery. In 1933, he moved the business to El Paso, Texas. By 1940, the company had become the largest producer of riflescopes and mounts in the world. The Weaver story includes many hallmarks. **RARE**WW2 Era Nickel Plated All Steel Hilt Variant Fairbairn Sykes FS Commando Fighting Knife & Scabbard. Sn 21845 - 21845
Like many variants of the FS knife there are various theories as to the origins of the all steel FS knives. Generally put about is that they were dropped into Europe for use by the resistance. There is also anecdotal evidence indicating use by Home guard. At least one of these knives was recovered in the wreck of a Sherman tank which sank off the coast of Normandy during the D-Day invasion (see pages 131 to 133 of ‘The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives’ by Flook). An all steel plated variant hilt FS knife with 5 knurled grip rings and narrow grip near to the pommel similar to ours is illustrated on page 133 item 9.21 of the authors book. He comments on the illustrated knife, that the plating was probably done post war for presentation or private sale purposes. The author also comments on page 131 “whether or not they were made against an official contract is unknown and no example that I am aware of has been found with an inspection mark. Genuine examples of such knives are scarce”. This is a rare, original all steel hilt nickel plated variant FS knife and scabbard in as found, un-cleaned condition. It’s all steel hilt has the aforementioned 5 knurled grip rings and plated oval steel finger guard. The original nickel plate finish has some age related areas of tarnishing. There are no maker or date marks on the knife. The knife has a 173 mm long blade with medial ridge. Its open top leather scabbard in which it was found has an integral belt loop. Original Parker-Hale Iron Sights. OPT 860. - OPT 860
The Parker Gunsmithing companies. Their tube sleeving system was developed by Alfred G. Parker & Co Ltd and marketed under the Parkerifling tradename early in the 20th century (prior to 1910). The company was born more than 20 years earlier in 1880. The firm initially traded from premises in Icknield St Birmingham and was joined by Arthur T.C. Hale, who had become manager by 1910. It moved to Bisley St which was famously known as ‘Bisley Works’. By 1910 Alfred was designing aperture sights for the firm and performing remarkably at Bisley with a ‘Long’ Lee-Enfield fitted with one of his own sights. Around 1930, Arthur Hales involvement with A.G. Parker had reached a significance which led to the change of company name to Parker-Hale; so, it has retained to this day. This marked Parker-Hale iron sight doesn’t show a model number, but all parts appear to be in place, including sight inserts ranging from 3.0,3.2,3.4,3.6,3.8 & 4.0. Please see images for recognition. The sight comes in its original padded box. The price includes Uk delivery. OPT 860

*Scarce* U.S Model 1873 Trowel Bayonet. 22534:2 - 22534:2
Developed to serve as both a combat bayonet and entrenching tool, the Trowel bayonet (also known as the rice bayonet) for the Remington Rolling Block rifle was patented in April of 1872. It had a unique way of attaching to the muzzle of the rifle in that the rear of the bayonet socket rotated to allow fixing. Earlier trowel scabbards had a brass hook to attach to a belt. This is a good original example 14 ½ “long and 3 ½ “at its widest. The double-edged blade tapers to a point and the reverse has medial ridge. The bayonet has the correct knurled grip section which rotates as it should. The bayonet is undamaged. There is some age-related staining which is as to be expected. The grip retains its original finish. See pages 410 & 429 of Watts & White for reference. The price includes UK delivery. 22534:2 (USA Box 2)
