**RARE**Original**WW2 1944 'D-Day' British 3rd Pattern Paratroopers Jump Helmet By BMB With Liner & Chin Strap. Sn 21682 - 21682 This is an excellent original WW2 1944 dated 3rd Pattern British Paratroopers Jump Helmet (See page 93 of For King & Country By Glenn). 3rd pattern Jump Helmets were manufactured from 1943 and featured a manganese steel shell with webbing liner & leather chin cup. They 1st saw action on June 6th 1944 for the Normandy Invasion. This helmet has the correct liner and has most of its original green paint. The leather sweatband is crisply date stamped '1944' together with manufacturer's mark 'BMB' and size '7 5/8'. The helmet has its original webbing chinstrap arrangement with leather chin cup. **THE GALLIPOLI HELMET**Pre WW1 1908 Dated British WD Wolseley Pattern Overseas Service / Tropical Pith Helmet Solar Topee With Pagri Head Band Attributed To HQ716 Sgt W.J. Roberts 6th BMP’ (6th Battalion Burma Military Police). Sn 22987:6 - 22987:6 The Burma Military Police (BMP) was a paramilitary force of British Burma. Its main functions were the pacification of Upper Burma and the policing of the Burmese frontier. The force was made up of Indian and Burmese recruits led by British Officers and NCO’s. Dating back to 1886, it was formally established under the Upper Burma Military Police Regulation in 1887, which was superseded the same year by the Burma Military Police Act. In July 1917, the 85th Burman Rifles were raised from the Burma Military Police. After the separation of Burma from British India, most battalions of the Burma Military Police became part of the new Burma Frontier Force, In 1914, experienced soldiers of the BMP were sent to fight on the Western Front for the British Empire. In total, 4,650 BMP soldiers were transferred to fight in World War I. On the Western Front, they were tasked with supporting various regiments in Flanders and France, and also served in the Gallipoli campaign. In 1917, when the Kuki Rebellion began, the British were reliant on the BMP and Assam rifles to deal with Kuki rebels. As the rebellion continued, the BMP had their Martini-Henry rifles replaced by .303 calibre Enfield SMLE rifles. In April 1937, six battalions of the BMP became part of the newly established Burma Frontier Force. These battalions were mainly made up of Indian and Gurkha forces. The Wolseley pattern Pith helmet is a distinctive British design developed and popularised in the late-19th / early 20th century. With its swept-back brim it provided greater protection from the sun than the old Foreign Service helmet and its use was soon widespread among British Civil and Military personnel serving overseas. This is an original British WD Wolseley pattern Pith helmet recently received from a family who knew this helmet as the ‘WW1 Gallipoli Helmet issued in Alexandria to a relative on the way to the Dardanelles’. The helmet has its original 7 fold khaki head band 'Pagri' & vented top mount. It is complete with leather sweatband and leather chinstrap. All material and stitching of the helmet, sweatband and chinstrap are undamaged with just service wear and storage staining to be expected. There is no damage or signs of moth. The crown of the helmet has the correct brass vent. The inside of the helmet is ink stamped with WD & Broad Arrow mark above pre WW1 date ‘9 1908’ (September 1908). The inside of the helmet also has period hand written name & Regiment detail ‘HQ716 (Headquarters 716), Sgt W.J. Roberts 6th BMP’ (6th Battalion Burma Military Police). **NEAR MINT**ORIGINAL**WW2 1942 Era Nazi German DAK Africa Corps (Deutsches Afrikakorps) Double Decal Olive Green Tropenhelm Tropical Helmet By JHS Size 55 (UK 6 ¾) With Chinstrap & Liner. Sn 23068:1 - 23068:1 This is a near mint, original WW2 era Nazi German DAK Africa Corps (Deutsches Afrikakorps) Double Decal Tropenhelm Tropical Helmet as used by DAK troops in the Africa & Italy campaigns. One side of the green felt material covered hard helmet is mounted with its original metal shield badge with enamelled German National Tri-colours. The other side has the Nazi Army DAK metal shield badge with silver coloured ‘Eagle with Swastika’ on a black enamel back ground. The helmet is complete with clean leather sweatband, red felt and green cloth liner, leather trimmed brim, vented crown and green leather chinstrap. The crown of the helmet has the correct brass vent. All material is clean and intact. The excellent, clean leather sweatband is crisply impressed by the maker ‘JHS’. WW2 Captured Occupied Czechoslovakian Army Combat Helmet Nazi German Converted To Luftwaffe 'Luftshutz' (Air Raid / Civil Defence) Single Front Decal Steel Helmet With Label To ‘Kiezl’ Most Likely A Wartime Female Firefighter With Liner & Chin Strap. - 23032 This is an excellent, original, WW2 German Luftwaffe 'Luftshutz' (Air Raid/ Civil Defence) helmet period converted from a Captured Occupied Czechoslovakian Army Combat Helmet. The Helmet retains its Nazi Converted dark blue paint and the front bears bold Nazi applied Luftwaffe Eagle with Swastika silver & black decal. At the Time of conversion the Nazis also added the protective combe on the skull of the helmet. There are no maker or date marks on the rim of the helmet but they may be present under the paint. The helmet has its horsehair filled pads liner & leather chinstrap with buckle (the tip of one end of the chinstrap is absent. **LOFT FIND**SIEGE OF MALTA CAMOUFLAGE**British WW2 Tommy Combat Helmet With Liner & Chin Strap. HE 861 - HE 861 The Siege of Malta in World War II was a military campaign in the Mediterranean Theatre. From June 1940 to November 1942, the fight for the control of the strategically important island of the British Crown Colony of Malta pitted the air and naval forces of Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany against the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Navy. The opening of a new front in North Africa in June 1940 increased Malta's already considerable value. British air and sea forces based on the island could attack Axis ships transporting vital supplies and reinforcements from Europe; Churchill called the island an "unsinkable aircraft carrier". General Erwin Rommel, in de facto field command of Axis forces in North Africa, recognised its importance quickly. In May 1941, he warned that "Without Malta the Axis will end by losing control of North Africa". The Axis resolved to bomb or starve Malta into submission, by attacking its ports, towns, cities, and Allied shipping supplying the island. Malta was one of the most intensively bombed areas during the war. The Luftwaffe and the Regia Aeronautica (Italian Royal Air Force) flew a total of 3,000 bombing raids, dropping 6,700 tons of bombs on the Grand Harbour area alone, over a period of two years in an effort to destroy RAF defences and the ports. Success would have made possible a combined German–Italian amphibious landing (Operation Herkules) supported by German airborne forces, but this did not happen. In the event, Allied convoys were able to supply and reinforce Malta, while the RAF defended its airspace, though at great cost in materiel and lives. In November 1942 the Axis lost the Second Battle of El Alamein, and the Allies landed forces in Vichy French Morocco and Algeria under Operation Torch. The Axis diverted their forces to the Battle of Tunisia, and attacks on Malta were rapidly reduced. The siege effectively ended in November 1942. In December 1942, air and sea forces operating from Malta went over to the offensive. By May 1943, they had sunk 230 Axis ships in 164 days, the highest Allied sinking rate of the war. The Allied victory in Malta played a major role in the eventual Allied success in North Africa. This is an excellent, original, WW2 steel 'Tommy' Combat helmet, a recent loft find. This helmet has all of its original rough texture green and sand section colour camo paint as used in the Siege of Malta. The surface of the helmet has one shallow dents near to the crown most likely battle damage. The rim has no visible date or maker marks but they may be present under the paint. It has its original oil cloth sweat band liner, chin strap bales & elasticated webbing chinstrap with buckle all of which are intact. The helmet is approx. UK size 6 1/2. WW2 Era Home Front, National Fire Service (NFS) Fire Force No. 34 Tommy Helmet To Fire Fighter 202799 F. Waites With Liner & Chinstrap. Sn 22853 - 22853 During WW2, Ealing served as the headquarters for the National Fire Service (NFS) Fire Force No. 34, which was located at Haven Green Court, Haven Green. This area was a vital part of the London Region's firefighting efforts during the war, including during the Blitz, and supported a large contingent of firefighters with dedicated staff and control units. The Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) formed in January 1938 and fire stations were set up in buildings such as schools, garages and factories. A recruitment drive was launched with as many as 28,000 fire fighters required to support London Fire Brigade's 2,500 officers and fire fighters. To provide a unified service throughout the country, the National Fire Service (NFS) took control on 18 August 1941 when all AFS were merged with local brigades to form a national service. By 1943 over 70,000 women had enrolled in the NFS in the United Kingdom. This is an excellent original, WW2, steel NFS 'Tommy' helmet. The helmet has its original green paint with red band and King’s Crown NFS insignia together with ‘34’ (Ealing Force Designation). The inner rim of the helmet is stamped with what looks like ‘27’ beneath original white paint letters and numbers ‘202799 F. Waites’ no doubt the fire fighter issued with this helmet. There are no date marks but they may be present under the paint. It has its original black oil cloth liner and sprung webbing chinstrap. *ORIGINAL**WW2 Nazi German Double Decal M35 Infantry Combat Helmet By ‘ET’ (Eisenhutten-Thale) With Original M31 Liner & Chin Strap. Sn 22839 - 22839 This is an excellent, original WW2 era Nazi German M35 combat helmet. The helmet retains its original olive green paint finish. It has no dents and all rivets/ pins and steel chin strap bales are correctly in place. The inner skirt of the helmet is manufacturer stamped ‘ET’ (Eisenhutten-Thale) together with size ‘62’ and lot number which looks like ‘3826’ (see page 142 of The History Of The German Steel helmet 1916-1945 by Baer). The inner rim also has period white painted name ‘Gefr Schroder’ (no doubt the name of the German Soldier issued with this helmet’. The left side of the helmet features its original Silver (Heer) Nazi Eagle with Swastika on a black shield background decal. The right has the German Reich’s black, white and red shield. Both decals have excellent colouring with just light surface scuffing to be expected with age and service use. The helmet is complete with original undamaged M31 leather liner with draw string. The liner has even field / combat wear. The helmet has its original leather chin strap with buckle. There are no visible maker or date marks on the liner or chin strap. HE 857 - HE 857 This is an excellent, original, WW2, steel 'Tommy' Combat helmet. This helmet has its original black paint finish with ARP Bomb Warden’s large white paint stencilled ‘7 BW’ designation to the front (most likely Bomb Warden Number 7). The paint has areas of wear to be expected and has no dents. The inner rim of the helmet is stamped ‘E-16’ possibly a batch number. There are no visible date or maker marks but they may be present under the paint.
