**Very Scarce** Original British 1933 & 1940 Dated Service Case for the .303 Enfield Rifle Ball Rounds. 19113. - 19113 The .303 British Service cartridges, commonly known as the .303 or .303 British was adopted by Britain in 1889. This round, as originally adopted, consisted of a 215 grain, round nosed, cupro nickel jacketed bullet in front of 71.5 grains of RFG2 Black powder. This powder charge being pressed into a pellet with both ends slightly rounded and pierced with a flash hole through the centre. This original case is dated ‘9.3.33’ to the side RL (Royal Labs) (9th March 1933) which is the construction date. The box is also dated ‘6.40’ to the top, (June 1940) which is when it was examined and issued. The box has its original stickers ‘MK VII’ which would hold 300 cartridges.303 British Enfield stripper clips are 5 round clips and a mix of blued and parkerised. The box has its original brass split pin and clasp. The box still retains its wire rope handle with leather carrying hoop. To find one of these boxes in such good condition is very rare indeed, as once the boxes were emptied in action they were burned, dumped or destroyed. This is an excellent piece for the collector.
