U.S. Remington, 1870's Swedish Contract Rolling Block 11mm Rifle & Bayonet. (deactivated for display) Sn 10923:20. - 10923:20
A U.S. Remington 1870's Swedish Registered 'Rolling Block' 11mm rifle and bayonet. The Remington Rolling Block rifle was a breech-loading rifle produced from the mid-1860s into the early 20th century by E. Remington and Sons (later Remington Arms Company). The action was extremely strong, and could easily withstand the increased pressure of the new smokeless powders coming into use by the late 1880s. This type of rifle was used in the Franco/Prussian War, Egyptian War 1882 and The Sudanese War 1884-85. This is an excellent original Remington Model 1870 rolling block rifle has a 11mm Bore. It has a 35" barrel (50" overall) and has an external hammer and ladder rear sight. The woodwork and metal work are both undamaged and have a nice patina throughout. The woodwork has only the minor bumps and bruises from normal use which is to be expected of a weapon of this age. It is complete with two sling swivels, bayonet lug and cleaning/ram rod. The cleaning/ram rod has a tulip shaped end typical of the US Civil War. The trigger guard is the No 1 Type. It also has spring type barrel holders which were fitted to the No 1 Rifle. The bayonet lug is of the Argentinian Type. It has three barrel bands. The right plate is stamped with model detail 'DA' and the left with 'DA'. The left side of the stock is stamped with an Egyptian motif. It's loading and firing action works correctly. The bayonet is a French Yataghan for the 1866 Chassepot Rifle and Remington Rolling Block Rifle. It fits perfectly on the rifle. This is a nice example of the French model 1866 Chassepot bayonet with Yataghan form blade (See pages 84 and 92 plate 195 of The Bayonet Book by Watts & White). The steel single edged blade with fuller is undamaged with just very light staining consistent with age. The blade is 22 ½ " long (27 ¼ ") overall. The back edge of the blade is engraved by manufacturing armoury and dated 1871. It has the correct steel cross guard with muzzle ring and ribbed brass grip with flat spring and steel push button. It is complete with the correct scabbard made of sheet steel. The scabbard has no dents and has its original strap bar. The price includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery. Sn 10923:20.

SOLD SOLD (14/03) 1948-1950, British War Dept Factory Sectioned Cut-Away Lee Enfield No4 Mk1* .303 Calibre, SKN 1771 Armourer’s Instructional Rifle Action, Shoulder Stock & Part Barrel. **2018 UK/EU DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED** Sn 20672:17 - 20672:17
This is a now scarce Lee Enfield .303 No4 "SKN" Armourers Instructional Action. Approximately 2500 official SKN No4 actions were manufactured between 1948 & 1950 utilising components from out of service rifles. Quite a number of skeleton actions were assembled by the Gun trade and by REME workshops, but these lack the official SKN number on the left hand wall of the action body. The frame is stamped with ordnance acceptance mark and MK 1* designation. The contract was originally given to ROF Enfield, but following legal action involving the alleged un-licensed Government manufacture of the L2 Sterling SMG, manufacture was given instead to Sterling Engineering as part of the legal settlement. Sterling then sub-contracted the work to List Engineering of Dagenham, which completed SKN's returned to ROF Enfield for inspection and service acceptance. This example is stamped with the correct SKN designation (see page 230 of the Lee Enfield Story By Skennerton) ‘SKN 1771’. The stock has a brass butt plate, component parts were carefully sectioned at the factory, with cutaway areas painted red. The piece measures 27 ¾” overall length. This SKN is in excellent overall condition. Although unnecessary within the UK this SKN comes with a UK/EU 2018 specification deactivation certificate. The SKN cocks and dry fires and its magazine can be removed. The price includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery. Sn 20672:17

*Rare/Mint* 1941 Carcano Model 91 ‘M.91 Moschetto TS’ Drill/Training Rifle *No Licence Required*. D 636. - D 636
Carcano is the frequently used name for a series of Italian bolt-action, magazine-fed, repeating military rifles and carbines. Introduced in 1891, this rifle was chambered for the rimless 6.5×52mm Carcano round (Cartuccia Modello 1895). It was developed by the chief technician Salvatore Carcano at the Turin Army Arsenal in 1890, and was originally called the Modello (model) 91 or simply M91. Successively replacing the previous Vetterli-Vitali rifles and carbines in 10.35×47mmR, it was produced from 1891 to 1945. The M91 was used in both rifle (fucile) and shorter-barrelled carbine (moschetto) form by most Italian troops during World War I and by Italian and some German forces during World War II. The rifle was also used during the Winter War by Finland, and again by regular and irregular forces in Syria, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria during various post-war conflicts in those countries. This example is a rare drill/training model. These rifles are used solely for drill purposes, training and teaching, usually by cadet forces. These rifles can be marched with and can also be used to perform exhibition style individual or group manoeuvres. It does not cock or dry fire and doesn’t appear to ever been a firearm. The rifle measure 36” in length. The wooden stock has ‘9035’ stamped to the butt end (which is also stamped to the front of the bolt action) and is in very good condition with two sling swivels attached. The metalwork retains 95% of its original paint. The rifle weighs 3.060kg. The price includes UK delivery. *No licence is required to own this item in the UK *. D 636.
