The M1903 Springfield, formally the United States Rifle, Calibre .30-06, Model 1903, is an American clip loaded, 5 shot, bolt-action service rifle used primarily during the first half of the 20th century. It was officially adopted as a United States military bolt action rifle on June 19, 1903, and saw service in WW1. It was officially replaced as the standard infantry rifle by the faster firing semi-automatic 8 round M1 Garand starting in 1937. However, the M1903 Springfield remained in service as a standard issue infantry rifle during WW2, since the U.S. entered the war without sufficient M1 rifles to arm all troops. It also remained in service as a sniper rifle during World War 2, the Korean War, and even in the early stages of the Vietnam War. This example of the Springfield M1903 is in excellent condition & been sporterised at some point in its life by adjustments to the stock and addition of a vintage Austrian Khales Wien Helia 39 S2 Telescopic Sight with military reticle (illustrated in the images, the reflections in the reticle images are just light reflections during photography. The optics are perfect). The rifle’s metalwork is undamaged with excellent original blue finish. It is crisply stamped on the breech housing 'U.S. (Army) Springfield Armory Model 1903' and serial number '1494504' which is repeated on the barrel. It has a cushioned rubber butt recoil pad, ramp blade fore sight, 2 leaf rear sight & sling swivels. Barrel length is 24 ½” overall length 44”. The barrel is stamped with calibre detail ‘Cal 30,06’. The rifle’s telescopic sight has its original mounts and retains its original blue finish. The sight has graduated markings and maker mark K.Khales Wien Helia 39 S2 and serial number 55824. Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2018 the weapon’s bolt and trigger move. The price for this superb piece includes UK/ EU deactivation certificate and UK delivery. D 1553

1884-1904 Colt USA Lightning .44-40 Calibre Medium Frame Pump Action Rifle. **EARLY UK 1989 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED**D 1537 - D 1537
The Colt Lightning Carbine or Colt Lightning Rifle was a slide-action (pump-action) rifle manufactured by Colt from 1884 until 1904 and was originally chambered in .44-40 calibre. Colt eventually made the Lightning Rifle in three different frame sizes, to accommodate a wide range of cartridges, from .22 Short calibre and .38-40 to .50-95 Express. Its profile resembles the pump-action rimfire rifles made by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and Remington Arms. The Lightning saw use as a sporting arm in America and was adopted for use by the San Francisco Police Department, but was never as popular or as reliable as the various lever-action rifles of its day. The medium-frame Colt Lightning Magazine Rifle was manufactured between 1884 and 1904. It was the first slide-action rifle offered by Colt. Colt records indicate 89,777 were produced, in .32-20, .38-40, and .44-40 as a companion arm to the Colt Single Action Army revolver. This medium framed 44-40 model is in very nice condition. The woodwork only has some very minor age related marks mainly to the underside of the stock. The metalwork retains the majority of its original blueing. ‘COLT’S PT F.A.M.FG.CO HARTFORD CT . U.S.A.’ and patents are stamped to the top of the barrel along with 44 CAL. The serial No 33452 is stamped on the bottom tang. De-activated to early UK specification in 1989, the rifle’s pumps action works crisply and it cocks and dry fires. It has an open barrel, over bored with a pin at the breech. The price includes UK delivery and deactivation certificate. D 1537
