The Civil Guard (Spanish: Guardia Civil) is the oldest law enforcement agency in Spain and is one of two national police forces. As a national gendarmerie force, it is military in nature and is responsible for civil policing under the authority of both the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence. During the Spanish Civil War, 1936-39 the Guardia Civil forces split almost evenly between those who remained loyal to the Republic. Their contribution to the war efforts on both sides were invaluable & proved effective in urban combat. The symbol of the Guardia Civil consists of the Royal Crown of Spain, a sword and a fasces (bundle of rods and axe). This German Mauser is a Spanish military contract weapon issued to the Civil Guard (Guardia Civil ). The woodwork and metal work are in nice undamaged condition. The barrel shank has the emblem of the Civil Guard The barrel is numbered W1938 and has calibre detail (illustrated). It is complete bayonet lug, adjustable rear sight, fixed fore sight, steel butt plate and sling swivels. It has a 23 ½” barrel and is 43 ½” overall length. The M1 Garand (officially designated as United States Rifle, Calibre .30, M1 and later simply Rifle, Calibre .30, M1, and also abbreviated as US Rifle, Cal .30, M1), was the first semi-automatic rifle to be generally issued to the infantry of any nation. The Mosin–Nagant is a five-shot, bolt-action, internal magazine-fed, military rifle, developed by the Imperial Russian Army in 1882–91, and used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other nations. In spite of the age of its design these weapons have shown up in various conflicts around the world until the modern day, being rugged and effective, much like the AK-47 and its variants. The Izhevsk Machine building Plant is a weapons and motor vehicle manufacturer based in Izhevsk, founded in 1807 at the decree of Tsar Alexander I, and is now one of the largest corporations in its field. The Plant manufactured Mosin Nagant rifles during WW1 & WW2 along with AK47 assault rifles and other arms for the Russian War effort. The Plant produces arms for the Russian Military today. This is an excellent WW2 dated Mosin Nagant carbine. It has undamaged metal work with even patina and all original undamaged wood furniture. **RARE**CAPTURED**Boer War ZAR (Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek) Contract Mauser Model 1896 7.9mm Calibre Rifle By Loewe & Co Berlin With Boer Name & Address Carved In Stock ‘J.J.A. Jordaan Reebokfontein Dist. Standerton Z.A.R’**UK 2005 DEACTIVATION** - 22117
The Boer Republics of the Orange Free State (OVS or Oranje Vrij Staat) and the South African Republic (ZAR or Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek) had been at odds with the British Empire for decades. Events led to open hostilities and knowing War with the British Empire was imminent, the Boers rushed to purchase firearms to arm their citizen-soldier Commandos and shipments of German Mauser Rifles were purchased by the ZAR and OVS States. It was common practice for Boers issued with rifles to carve their names and often scenic or religious imagery into the wood stocks of their weapons. This Mauser Model 1896 Rifle is one of the rifles purchased by the Boers. It is almost certainly one of many captured by the British during the War. The woodwork and metal work are all original. The wood has just light knocks bumps and bruises consistent with age and use and has an old stable repair to the lower part of the stock between the rear sling swivel and butt plate. The breech housing is stamped 'MOD MAUSER 1896 LUDW. LOEWE & CO BERLIN' together with number 'B 4060' which is repeated on the magazine plate and bolt. The metal work has small Imperial German inspection marks. Typical of weapons used in the War it has the original Boer Kommando’s name & address hand carved into the stock ‘J.J.A. Jordaan Reebokfontein Dist. Standerton Z.A.R’ within panel (illustrated). Standerton is a large commercial and agricultural town lying on the banks of the Vaal River in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Standerton was founded in 1878 by The Z.A.R. During the First Boer War (1880–81), a British unit was besieged by the Boer forces who shelled them from the nearby hill, the former holding out until the end of the war in February 1881. Internet resource www.angloboerwar.com lists 206 Boers with the surname Jordaan taken prisoner during the Boer war with information regarding where they were captured and interned. The rifle is complete with block & blade fore sight, flip up rear sight, bayonet lug, steel butt plate and sling swivels. It is without cleaning rod. Deactivated to UK specification in 2005 the weapon cocks & dry fires crisply. The price for this rare historic piece worthy of further research regarding the Boer name includes UK delivery and deactivation certificate. Sn 22117

WWI 1917 Dated & WW2 Italian, Carcano Model 1891 (M91) Terni Arsenal Bolt Action Rifle. Sn 11393. - 11393
Carcano is the frequently used name for a series of Italian bolt-action military rifles and carbines. Introduced in 1891. The rifle chambered for the rimless 6.5×52mm Mannlicher-Carcano cartridge was developed by the chief technician Salvatore Carcano at the Turin Army Arsenal in 1890 and designated the Model 91 (M91). Successively replacing the previous Vetterli-Vitali rifles and carbines in 10.35×47mmR, it was produced from 1892 to 1945. The Carcano M1891 rifle gave excellent service throughout the First Word War where Italy participated on the Allied side, fighting mainly against Austria. The reliability of the weapon convinced Fascist Italy to re commence manufacturing the Infantry rifle during WW2. This is an excellent original example of the M1891 Rifle. Its wood stock and metal are all original. It is equipped with swivels, bayonet lug and steel butt plate. The breech is stamped 'Terni' (Arsenal) and dated '17' (1917).
