Spiller & Burr .36 calibre cap & ball revolvers were manufactured in Virginia and Georgia to arm the Confederacy during the American Civil War. The pistols were very similar to Reminton Navy Models of the period used by both Union and Confederacy forces. The design of the Spiller & Burr revolvers live on today in the form of quality live firearms from Italian manufacturers such as Pietta & Uberti. This quality Italian made deactivated example of the Spiller & Burr Confederate revolver is in excellent condition. The pistol has a 7" octagonal blued steel barrel and measures 12 ½” overall. The right side of the barrel is crisply stamped 'Black Powder Only'. The left side 'Made In Italy'. It has a brass frame stamped with inspection marks, a blued cylinder & barrel. The top of the barrel is stamped 'Spiller & Burr Cal .36'. The barrel has a conical brass post fore sight and the rear sight consists of a groove in the top of the cylinder frame, the same as found on period Remington Navy revolvers. It has undamaged wood grips. The butt of the brass grip frame is numbered 20086. The pistol cocks and dry fires crisply, correctly, in single action only. The Colt Model 1860 Army was a muzzle-loading cap & ball .44-calibre revolver used during the American Civil War. It was used as a side arm by Cavalry, Infantry, Artillery troops, and Naval forces. The pistols live on today in the form of Modern continental firearms manufacturers such as Centennial Arms Liege Belgium. This quality made deactivated "Belgium Centennial Model 1860 Army .44 Calibre Revolver" is in excellent condition. The pistol cocks and dry fires crisply correctly in single action only. The metal work has all of its original blue finish to the barrel and cylinder. The pistol has an 8 " round steel barrel and measures 14" overall, the same dimensions as its original civil war counterpart. The weapon has a brass blade foresight and 'notched hammer' rear sight. The heel of the steel butt strap is also correctly notched for addition of a detachable shoulder stock. It has a captive 'lever' ramrod and brass trigger guard and grip frame. The barrel is stamped with manufacturer, model and calibre detail (all illustrated). The metal work has Liege proof marks and the butt of the grip frame ‘made In Belgium’. The pistol has all matching serial numbers '3099’ on the barrel block, frame & brass grip frame. It has its original undamaged Walnut grip. The pistol comes with its modern production black leatherette holster a replica of an American civil war US Army Cavalry holster. The holster is in new condition. Italian Made, Pietta, Starr Arms Co. Single Action Army Percussion .44 Revolver **UK 2014 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATE** Sn - 22642:22
This single-action revolver which was briefly used in the western theatre of the American Civil War until the U.S. Ordnance Department persuaded the Starr Arms Co. to create a single-action variant after discontinuation of the Colt. The company eventually complied, and the Union acquired 25,000 of the single-action revolvers. The Starr DA is featured in the 1992 film Unforgiven, when William Munny (Clint Eastwood) takes it from its case to determine whether he has lost his former shooting ability. The self-cocking trigger can be seen in this film. In the 1994 film Wyatt Earp young Wyatt Earp (Kevin Costner) carries this gun. This gun is shown in its case in the 1982 film Rambo: First Blood. With a round barrel and underlever rammer the frame is stamped STARR ARMS CO. NEW YORK and STARRS PATENT JAN. 15. 1856. The right hand side of the barrel is stamped F.LLI PIETTA MADE IN ITALY. The lateral screw at the back of the top strap releases for the barrel to tip down. The pistol has a nice hardwood one-piece grip with a very nice de-activation. Measurements; barrel 8 inches with a length of 14 inches. Deactivated to UK specification in 2014 the pistol cocks and dry fires crisply, correctly in single action only. The Colt Model 1855 Root Side-hammer percussion Pocket Revolver was manufactured from 1855 through to 1870. It was designed by Samuel Colt even-though it was named after Elisha K. Root who was Colt’s factory foreman and general superintendent. At that time, the Root revolver was Colt's only percussion handgun built on the solid frame principle and featured a side-hammer, mounted on the right side of the frame, a spur trigger, a cylinder pin entering from the rear and one-piece grips secured to the back-strap. The Root revolver has a sheathed trigger. Revolvers made to Colt's Patents live on today in the form of quality firearms produced by Italian firearms manufacturers. This cased pocket example of Colt's Root side hammer black powder pistol is 7 ¾” overall with a 3 ½” barrel. The gun has all the features of the original revolver and retains its original finish. The Walnut grips are undamaged. The 2 stage barrel is stamped with number 042074 and Italian proofs. Manufactured in Italy by Uberti. Uberti is a well-known manufacturer of high quality replicas of 19th century American percussion revolvers, carbines and rifles. These replicas are used by historical re-enactors and target shooters. The 1858 Remington New Army Model, was a single action, 6 shot, percussion revolver manufactured by Remington & Sons in .44 Calibre used during the American Civil War. These weapons were also popular with both Union & Confederate Officers during the Civil War. The Remington design lives on today in the form of quality black powder firearms from manufacturers such as Uberti, Pietta, and Euroarms. This near mint deactivated Uberti made example of the New Army .44 calibre large frame revolver is in excellent condition. The steel pistol measures 13 ¾” overall. Cased Pair, MINT, Colt .36 Colt Pocket 5 Shot Deactivated (UK Spec) Pistol & Non Firing .31 Colt 1849 5 Shot Pocket Pistols. Sn - 22643:16
These are a near mint cased pair of Italian made Colt pocket pistols. The first is a 5 shot Colt Pocket Police pistol deactivated to the old specification in 2014 and the second is a non firing replica of a 1849 Colt Pocket 5 shot pistol originally made as a firing gun to the same quality as the other pistol. Both of the pistols retains all of their original finish which consists of blued barrels, cylinders, trigger and screws. The rest of the guns have a colour case hardened frame, hammer, loading lever and rammer. Both pistols have finely figured walnut grips fitted. The deactivated pistol is a 5 shot Colt pocket pistol with a .36 inch bore and a 5 ½ inch hexagonal barrel. The frame is rebated for the cylinder which has a stagecoach scene rolled into it. The second pistol is a non firing replica of a Colt 1949 5 shot pocket pistol made to the same quality as the deactivated gun. The gun is visually identical from the other deactivated gun except for the model and would appear to have been made on the same assembly line. This gun has a 5 ¾ inch barrel and a rolled stagecoach scene rolled into it. the barrel has a slot under the loading lever. The pistols cock and dry fire crisply, correctly in single action only. Made by Armi Jager Italy these quality firearms were Imported through Intercontinental Arms. The pistols were modeled on Colt’s Wild West era single action peacemaker revolvers. The 6 shot revolver is in .357 calibre and would have been capable of firing both .357 Magnum and .38 special ammunition, they were modeled on the original Ejectorless Single Action Army Peacemaker and manufactured without the ejector rod & ejector rod housing on the barrel. The lack of ejector created a simpler, easier to carry revolver, useful in the American Wild West Frontier era for short engagements that might not demand quick reloading. In the period Colt made up the guns on special order, fitting them with barrels of any length the customer wanted. The Colt design lives on today in the form of identical quality firearms from Italian manufacturers such as our example by Armi Jager. The side gate loading revolver has a 5 ½” blued steel barrel and measures just under 11” overall. It has a colour case hardened frame & trigger, brass grip frame & undamaged wood grips. The barrel is signed ‘Dakota Cal.357 Magnum’ and ‘Made In Italy’. The frame has factory inspection marks and the pistol is serial number 13376. **BOER WAR MODEL**British WD Officer's Webley MK IV .455 Calibre Service Revolver With 'Birds Head' Grips & 6 Inert Deactivated Sectioned Dummy Rounds Which Can Be Loaded Into The Cylinder. Sn 22534:19 - 22534:19
The Webley MK IV .450/ .455 revolver was approved for British military service on 5th October 1899. These weapons were supplied in such large quantities to British troops engaged in the South African wars during 1899 – 1902, it was often referred to as the ‘Boer War Model’ (see page 201 of Webley Revolvers by Reinhart). This is an excellent original example of the Boer War Model Webley MK IV revolver. It has the correct 4" barrel and the original blue finish has aged to a nice plum colour in areas. The pistol has the correct undamaged 'Birds Head' shaped chequered panel grips. The frame is crisply marked ‘Webley Patents’, ‘MK IV’ and has WD inspection marks including a large Broad arrow on top of the cylinder frame. The pistol has matching serial numbers 105600 on the barrel block, underside of the frame and cylinder. The pistol is fitted with military lanyard ring. The pistol has an open over bored barrel and the cylinders have been cut and ringed. A nice feature of this pistol is that it comes with 6 inert deactivated dummy rounds which were commissioned by a previous owner and constructed so they can be loaded into the cylinder avoiding the cylinder ring obstruction and can be ejected by the pistol’s ejector mechanism for display (the original period empty .455 calibre brass shell cases have been sectioned and fitted with sectioned dummy bullets). Webley MK III .380 pocket revolver's were introduced in March 1896 ( see page 151 of Bruce & Reinhart's book Webley Revolvers). This is a factory nickel plated example retailed in South Africa, possibly a British Officer’s Boer War Private purchase weapon. The small frame pistol has a 3" barrel. The right side of the pistol is stamped with the serial number '11261' and 'Webley Patents' matching numbers are on the barrel block and cylinder. The left side of the frame is stamped with Webley 'winged bullet' legend. Above the cylinder on the frame it is stamped with 'Mark III .38'. On top of the cylinder frame it is signed by the South African retailer ‘A.P Walsh Kimberley & Johannesburg’. It's all original metal work retains its original factory nickel plate finish which has just light age related tarnish in areas and its chequered panel vulcanite grips are undamaged. This is an original World War 1 dated British WD Officer's MK VI .455 calibre Service Revolver. It is serial number 235224 which is stamped on the barrel, frame & cylinder. On the right side of the frame it is crisply stamped 'Webley Mark VI Patents' and dated ‘1916’. It has WD proof/ inspection marks on its frame and ‘Mark VI’ designation.
