Late 1800's, Indian Jambiya Arab Knife With Polished Bone Hilt, Elephants Device Pommel & Curved Double Edged Blade With Etched Panels. ED 2623 - ED 2623
The Jambiya also known as the Arab knife is in some modification found in every country in which the Arabs have lived. The blade is always curved and double edged. The finest quality examples of these knives are found in Persia & India (see pages 310 to 314 of ‘A Glossary Of The Construction Decoration & Use Of Arms & Armour’ by Stone where many variants of Jambiya are described and illustrated). This is an excellent Indian Jambiya made sometime in the late 1800's. It has a typical 9 ¾” long double edged dramatically curved steel blade with correct medial ridges on both sides. Both sides of the blade have hand tooled decorative panels in Indian form. The solid polished bone hilt is undamaged and has scalloped steel fittings including pommel cap mounted with 2 Elephants, the trunks forming a lanyard loop (which adds to the indicators that this is an Indian piece). The dagger measures 14 ¾” overall length. As is common this Jambiya is without scabbard. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2623

Second Italo-Ethiopian War Italian Fascist, MVSN (Milizia Voluntaria Sicurezza Nationale) Dagger & Scabbard Captured & Re-Used By Ethiopian Troops, Scabbard With Period Hand Applied Motto ‘WE KILL THE FLESH, WE KILL THE FLESH’ In East African Language. - 19383
The Second Italo-Ethiopian War, also referred to as the Second Italo-Abyssinian War, was fought between Italy and Ethiopia in East Africa from October 1935 to February 1937. The savage war saw thousands of casualties and was notorious for many war atrocities. This is an original Italian fascist, MVSN (Milizia Voluntaria Sicurezza Nationale) dagger & scabbard captured during the war. It has a WW1 Austro Hungarian Form Trench knife Blade & Steel Scabbard. These knives have blades similar to WW1 Austro Hungarian trench/ fighting daggers and were constructed In Part from The 2nd Pattern Italian fascist, MVSN Dagger (see page 75 plates 377 of Stephen’s book ‘Fighting Knives’). These knives were used by Italian forces during the Second Italo-Ethiopian War. The knife has a clean 7 ¾” single edged sharp blade which has no damage. It measures 12 ½” overall. It has the correct contoured wood handle secured by rivets and oval steel cross guard. One side of the grip has a small cut out section which has indistinct hand carved initials. The knife is complete with its period leather riveted and stitched scabbard with belt loop, retaining strap and press stud fastener. The front of the scabbard has period hand applied ink writing ‘Lelo Tuboma Nyama Lelo Tuboma Nyama’ which is Chewa / Nyanja East African Language translating to ‘WE KILL THE FLESH, WE KILL THE FLESH’, indicating that this knife was captured from an Italian soldier and carried by the Ethiopian Soldier who took it from him. **MATCHING DATES** WW2 1945 British Gurkha Kukri & 1945 Dated WD Scabbard By ‘Ca’ (Cawpore Arsenal). Sn 19388 - 19388
This is an original WW2 dated British Gurkha Military Kukri. It has a 12 ¼” single edged Kukri blade with fullers & notch. It measures 17” overall. The wood handle with raised central band is secured by two large rivets and it has a steel pommel plate. The blade is date stamped ‘HW’ (unknown) & ‘45’ (1945 date) . It comes with its original leather covered wood scabbard which has a small brass chape. The scabbard is undamaged and impressed ‘C’ WD arrow 840’ together with ‘Ca1945’( date & Cawpore Arsenal mark). Swedish Skinning Knife by K.J.Eriksson-Mora-Sweden. ED 2617. - ED 2617
Mora have been creating sharp knives for the rest of the world for more than 400 years. The seed of what would become one of the world's most popular knife manufacturers was sown as early as 1891 when Frost-Erik Erson returned to the village of Östnor in Mora after four years of work as a lumberjack in North America. Krång-Johan Eriksson also known as "Liss-Majt-Johan", "Bullas-Johan" or simply "KJ" was born4th October 1889 Östnor, Mora. KJ grew up in Tåmåsbyn, Östnor, and early on showed signs of entrepreneurship. As a young man, he would cycle around Mora selling bread and cookies that he had bought from his older sister Anna, who owned the café Bullas Kafé, which was almost across the road from Carl Andersson’s factory. KJ once said, that at age 12, he earned as much from his business as an adult man with a permanent job. The single sided blade is 9 ¼ cm long (19 ½ cm overall. ‘K.J.Eriksson-Mora-Sweden’ is engraved to one side of the blade. The plain wood grip is in remarkably good condition. The blade appears to have been re sharpened. The ornately imprinted leather scabbard has ‘Mora’ below a coat of arms. There is a belt hook above, held with a metal clip. C1800 – 1840’s Japanese Yori Doshi (Armour Piercing) Aikuchi (Dagger Without Tsuba), Scabbard & Kodjuka (Side Knife) & Expert Assessment. Sn 19377:7 - 19377:7
This Aikuchi has been assessed by UK Japanese sword expert Bill Tagg. A copy of his hand written notes and illustrations accompany the knife. In extracts from his notes he states “C1800 – 1840’s Japanese Yori Doshi (Armour Piercing) Aikuchi (Dagger Without Tsuba). This is an unsigned mumei piece. It is in bright condition but has lots of fine scratches which are obscuring the forging details. Can see an undulating notare hamon line with what looks like a nioi crystal edge. Grain is not visible needs a polish (professional) to see what its like. Saya is speckled black lacquer with dark Buffalo horn mounts & a sentoku-Do (brass with golden hue) Kodjuka side knife in fitted pocket. Unsigned blade, hilt decorated with copper & shakudo leaves good condition with a few marks and scratching. A simple tsuka hilt of brown speckled lacquer with line banding decoration & Buffalo horn fuchi & kashira. There is no sign of menuki hilt ornaments ever being fitted NB small bit of damage horn bottom mount. An attractive looking dagger”. In his illustrations of the blade he observes ‘ cutting edge 7” (length) Total length 9 ¾”, Sujikai right slant file marks (on tang), ridge line (blade spine) is iroi mune, mune is flat (tang)’. **MINT**Late Edo Period Into 20th Century Japanese Samurai Nata Gardener’s Knife With Scabbard, Tasselled Cord & Expert Assessment. Sn 19377:6 - 19377:6
This knife has been examined by Japanese sword expert Bill tag, a copy of his assessment accompanies the knife. In his notes he describes the knife as “A very good quality example in practically mint condition. A very simple forged blade made by an artisan blacksmith with basic 2 or 3 folds to the blade, crudely polished with filed decoration in bright condition crude basic tang never signed. Wood saya & tsuka possibly cherry wood capped with stag horn (antler) and tied withsplit bamboo (decorative0. Not a peasant’s tool too expensive. Well off Samurai Lords and merchants did gardening as a hobby and carried these. This mount is pure folk art by artist in wood and bamboo not signed. Most of them sold off to foreign collectors in the late 19th century”. In his illustrations he describes total length as 13 ¾” and cutting edge as just under 8”. *RARE*WW1 Austro Hungarian Trench Fighting Knife By Resicka Vienna & Scabbard. ED 2604 - ED 2604
An original Austro Hungarian WW1 Fighting/Trench Knife & Scabbard. The knife has a single edge 8 ¼” steel blade with an overall length of 13 ¼” *the blade appears to have been re sharpened. The single edged blade is undamaged and has just light staining consistent with age. The ricasso has the 'R' mark of the manufacturer Resicka Vienna. The smooth wooden scales are secured with steel pins. The oval cross guard has small inspection marks (illustrated). The scabbard is metal, has even patina and no dents. The rear of the throat has 2 fixed strap bars fitted with small leather belt loop. This is a very nice condition, rare WW1 trench knife and scabbard. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2604. Finnish Utility/Skinning Knife and Scabbard both Marked Fiskars. ED 2602 - ED 2602
During the seventeenth century a number of ironworks were founded in Finland. The large tracts of forestland in the Pohja region along with its unharnessed water power and good water routes made it an ideal centre for the Finnish iron industry. The ironworks at Antskog were founded around 1630, and Billnäs followed in 1641. Fiskars was started in 1649, and today is one of the oldest businesses in the Western world. The blade is measuring 9 ¾ cm, (overall 21 ½ cm). The hard dark wood grip has a nice ‘Finnish’ engraving, topped with a brass pommel and has a brass quillon before the blade. The ricasso has ‘Fiskars’ stamped to it, and the cheek has ‘Best Cast Steel’. The blade is in good condition and appears to have been re sharpened, it has an age related patina. The thick leather sheath has a loop to house a belt loop at the top rear. The stitching is intact and the leather has a nice aged patina, the brass furniture is very thick and solid and has ‘Fiskars’ imprinted, and the stitching is all intact. Fiskars ‘Finland’ Hunting/Skinning Knife with Leather Sheath. ED 2591. - ED 2591

The stitching is intact and the leather has a nice aged patina (the previous owners name is on the rear belt hoop. A very nice knife and scabbard for the collector. The price includes UK delivery. French Indo China / Vietnam War Era Aluminium Handled Combat Dagger & Scabbard. ED 2590. - ED2590
These Combat knives were carried by French Troops during the Indo China War in the 1950’s and American Troops found them still in service with the Vietnamese during the Vietnam War (see page 122 of The Military Knife & Bayonet By Brett). This original example has the correct 1 piece cast Aluminium handle with finger guard & stippled panels on either side. It has a 6” single edged blade with short fuller on one side. The blade and handle have staining and areas of pitting consistent with age and service use. It is complete with original leather scabbard which has an integral belt loop with retaining strap and press stud fastener. All rivets stitching and leather of the scabbard are intact.
