German WWII Fighting/Trench Knife & Scabbard (Shortened) 8424:5. - 8424:5 A trench knife is a combat knife designed to kill or incapacitate an enemy at close quarters, such as in a trench or other confined area. It was developed as a close combat weapon for soldiers attacking enemy trenches during the First World War. An example of a World War I trench knife is the German Army's Nahkampfmesser (close combat knife).[4][5]An original German WW2 Fighting/Trench Knife & Scabbard. The regulation model of the (Heer) army had a single edge blade, two smooth wooden grips secured by three rivets and they were made by 5 different manufacturers. The single edge blade has been shortened to 4 ¾ " long and the overall length is 9" The knife is complete with a metal scabbard which has a metal sprung belt/boot clip riveted to it. WW1 Era German Philipp Schmid Nurnberg Trench/Fighting Knife With Stag Antler Scales & Scabbard. Sn 21465 - 21465 This is an excellent original WW1 era German trench / fighting knife and leather scabbard. The knife has excellent undamaged solid Stag antler scales each secured by 3 steel pins (see page 38 item 162 of Stephen's book 'Fighting Knives' where a similar un-named variant made pre WW1 is illustrated). The dagger is full tang with integral small finger guard. The single edged steel blade is 5” length. The undamaged blade has some areas of light staining consistent with age. The blade is crisply marked on one side by the manufacturer or retailer ‘Philipp Schmid Nurnberg’. It is just under 10” overall length. WW2 Production Nazi German 1933 Pattern NSKK Dagger By RZM M7 / 33 (F W. Holler, Solingen), Motto Etched Blade & Scabbard With Belt Hanger. Sn 21419 - 21419 This is an original Wartime Nazi production 1933 pattern NSKK dagger and scabbard in excellent condition. The blade is crisply stamped with the wartime Nazi production code RZM M7 / 33 (F W. Holler, Solingen). Holler made approximately 1,000 early production daggers which are rated as rarity value 7 (10 being highest rarity value) in the book ‘The service daggers of the SA & The NSKK’ by Siegert. Holler continued to produce SA/ NSKK daggers after 1940 when only their RZM code is found on blades produced by the company. The lack of manufacturer’s own civilian trademark indicates that this is a Nazi wartime production dagger. The wood grip is original and undamaged. The Nazi German National Emblem and 'SA' roundel are perfectly fitted. It has a Nickel plated cross guard & pommel. The blade has the correct crisp "Alles Fur Deutschland" motto inscription. The dagger is complete with its original NSKK black anodised metal scabbard. The scabbard has a single hanging ring, nickel plated chape and throat mount. The ring is fitted with original leather tab belt hanger. It has its original nickel plated buckle & nickel plated sprung clip. **NEW TO COLLECTORS MARKET IN STORAGE SINCE 1960's / 70's**WW2 Era 1935 Pattern Nazi German Army / Heer Officer's Dagger By Tiger Solingen With Bullion Cord, Portepee & Scabbard With Hanger Straps. Sn 21385:6 - 21385:6 An excellent, original, Nazi German Army Officer's Dagger set. This dagger is one of several Nazi blades we recently acquired that are new to the market having been in storage wrapped in Newspaper since the 1960's & 70's when they originally came into the possession of a market trader. The blade is marked with the Tiger Solingen name & trademark. It has the correct distinctive 'Eagle with Swastika' design cross guard and grooved Orange / Brown hue 'phenol resin' grip with ornate Oak leaf decorated pommel. The Dagger has its original silver/ aluminium bullion cord and portepee (the cord has small light areas of service wear). Its original scabbard is decorated with a 'hammered' design and has 2 hanging ring mounts with Oak leaf decoration. WW2 Era Nazi German Eickhorn Solingen' Kriegsmarine Officer’s Dagger With Etched & Blued Blade, Scabbard & Original Officer’s Bullion Cord & Portepee. Sn 21360 - 21360 An original, German Kriegsmarine Dagger & Scabbard. The dagger’s blade is excellent, clean with etched & blued on both sides with marine fouled Anchors together with scroll work panels. The ricasso is marked with the makers name and Squirrel Logo 'Original Eickhorn Solingen'. It has the distinctive Kriegsmarine 'Eagle’ Pommel, ornate cross guard with fouled anchor device, scabbard retaining button that works as it should and correct Ivory hue resin grip with wire binding which is tight and secure. The dagger is complete with original scabbard which is decorated with a 'hammered' and etched design. The scabbard has 2 hanging ring mounts with Oak leaf decoration. **RARE**QUALITY**Late 19th Century Imperial German ‘Friedrich Jacob Bartels Wiesbaden’ Clamshell Boar & Stag Hunting Dagger / Dirk / Sidearm With Hunting Scenes Etched Sawback Blade, Stag Antler Hilt & Original Steel Mounted Leather Scabbard With Skinner. - 21300 This is a rare, quality made Imperial German Clamshell Hunting Dagger / Dirk / Sidearm made in the late 19th century. These substantial weapons were carried when hunting large game such as Boar for self defence and to deliver the 'death blow' to the hunted prey. This example has a heavy Stag Antler hilt with heavy metal fittings including cross guard with scalloped edges, large clamshell, ferrule and pommel cap. Its heavy 1 ½” broad blade is sharp has a deep cut, sharp sawback. The blade is nicely etched on both sides. One side has a wild boar in the field hunting scene above the maker’s name ‘Friedrich Jacob Bartels Wiesbaden’ (The cutler & barrel maker Friedrich Jacob Bartels was located at Bahnhofstrasse 5, Wiesbaden Germany, in 1896. In 1910 his address was Bahnhofstrasse 10). The reverse has Stag in the field etched hunting scene. The blade has just light staining consistent with age. The blade is 9 ¾” length and has its original leather hilt washer. The piece measures 15” overall. The weapon is complete with its original leather scabbard with heavy metal fittings consisting of a large throat mount with frog locket which has an integral steel holster for its skinning knife. The skinner has a solid Stag antler hilt with clean 2 ¾” long steel blade (5 ¼” overall length). The leather & stitching of the scabbard are clean & intact. PUMA Skinner Knife with Antler Grips and Original Leather Scabbard. 21168. - 21168 PUMA's story begins in 1769, when Johann Lauterjung registers his trademark in Solingen, Germany. For a long time the company is run by the Lauterjung family. In 1876 PUMA started producing pocket knives and stilletos. Around 1936 the company is placed under the authority of the German regime for the war industry. After the liberation in 1946 PUMA's focus shifted back to the civil market. In 1956 PUMA designs its most famous knife, the White Hunter. Ever since PUMA has continued to develop and innovate and introduced a completely new collection in 2003: the PUMA IP. A collaboration with large knife factories spread out all over the world. It is the first time this German knife brand crossed its borders into international territory. This example has a double edged 5” (9 ½ “overall) blade with a serrated lower edge. The blade is in good condition with minor surface scratches from use. It is etched *faintly* ‘PUMA SKINNER’ Genuine Pumaster Steel Germany to one side of the blade. The lovely antler bone grips are held with 3 brass pins and have brass lined lanyard hole. The crossguard is stamped; 96083. The accompanying original leather scabbard has the PUMA logo to the front along with brass rivets with the PUMA head logo on each. It has ‘MADE IN GERMANY DBGM 1865840’ imprinted to the rear. There is a leather leg strap attached also. The leather is in good condition as is the stitching and metalwork. WW2 British Special Operations Executive Folding Knife with Moulded Bolster By William Rodgers, Sheffield. Sn 12458. - 12458 A scarce WW2 British S.O.E. (Special Operations Executive) folding knife with moulded bolster. This knife was manufactured in England primarily for use by the S.O.E. Some of the knives produced don't have a manufacturers name or origin but this one has "William Rodgers, Sheffield" stamped on the blades ricasso (see the second photograph). There were two versions of this knife, one with a black moulded bolster and one with a white metal bolster. This knife has the black moulded bolster. The grips are chequered Bakelite or Bexoid. The blade measures 3 1/2" long, 8 1/4" overall with the blade locked out. The blade folds out and locks in place. It is released with a metal sprung thumb release which works perfectly. The blade is polished steel and is in good condition as can be seen from the photographs. (see page 46-47 in 'British and Commonwealth Military Knives' book by Ron Flook). **NAMED**WW1 1917 Dated Imperial German Trench/Fighting Knife (Hunting Style Variant) With Stag Antler Hilt, Solingen Addressed Blade Etched To A Named Officer Of The Ordnungsamt Enthalle (Police Public Order Regulatory Office Frankfurt) & Scabbard. - 20923 This is an excellent original WW1 dated German trench/fighting knife and leather scabbard. The knife is a hunting style variant and features a stag-horn hilt (see pages 40 and 41 of Stephen's book 'Fighting Knives' where similar variants are illustrated). The dagger has a white metal pommel cap, ribbed German Silver ferrule and steel re-curving cross guard. The hilt is curved stag-horn. The blade is 6” in length with medial ridge. The blade has some areas of light staining consistent with age. The blade is etched with a presentation inscription on one side with the name of the recipient and most likely the donor’s name and Solingen address all in German. The reverse has German text which looks like ‘Ordnungsamt Enthalle’ (the Public Order Policing Regulatory Office at Frankfurt) & 1917 date. The blade has staining consistent with age and service carry. It is 10 ¾” overall length. The knife is complete with its original leather scabbard with integral belt loop and retaining strap with press stud fastener. WW1 Imperial German Officer’s Ernst Pack & Sohne Solingen Trench Dagger / Fighting Knife With Carbine Bayonet Blade (Hilt Design Based On German WW1 Dress Bayonet) & Scabbard. ED 2207 - ED 2207 This is a an original WW1 German Officer’s trench dagger / fighting knife. This form of trench dagger were based on dress bayonets issued during WW1 (see page 50 of German Combat Knives 1914-1945 By Mery where similar hilt variants are illustrated). This dagger is 12 ¼” overall with a 7 ¾” steel blade similar to those found on German carbine bayonets (see page 180 item 403 of ‘The Bayonet Book’ by Watts & White). The blade is marked with the trademark of Ernst Pack & Sohne Solingen. It has the correct Eagle's head pommel with correct false bayonet button which pushes in but is correctly non-functioning & forms the Eagles eye and bayonet type mortice slot (this fighting knife was not made for fixing to a rifle). The undamaged chequered wood scales are secured with two rivets. It has an up-swept quillon cross guard. The dagger has its original blackened metal scabbard which has a ball end and frog locket.
