**RARE**ORIGINAL 1st PATTERN HILT**STERILE**WW2, 2nd Pattern, Wilkinson British Officer's, Grey Or Matt Nickel Plated Hilt, Fairbairn Sykes FS Fighting Knife & Scabbard. Sn 20163 - 20163 2nd Pattern 'FS' Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941. This is a rare example of the WW2, 2nd Pattern, Officer's fighting knife with 1st Pattern coarsely knurled nickel plated brass hilt which has a grey or matt nickel finish and 2nd pattern oval steel cross guard (see page 93 of ‘the Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives By Flook where he describes & illustrates a 2nd pattern FS with 1st pattern hilt. He comments that knives with 1st pattern hilts but without Wilkinson logos has led many collectors to conclude that they are in fact a Wilkinson product). It has a clean 167mm double edged dagger blade with medial ridge. The knife has no maker, date or inspection marks. The dagger is complete with original scabbard with belt loop & brass chape. WW2 Era British 2nd Pattern Nickel Plated Officer’s 'Sterile' Fairbairn Sykes FS Commando Fighting Knife & Scabbard. Sn 20444:17 - 20444:17 2nd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes 'FS' Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941. This is a very good condition WW2 Officer’s 2nd pattern, FS dagger and scabbard. Examples of Nickel plated FS daggers are illustrated in Chapter 7 of ‘The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives’ by Flook. The dagger has the correct nickel plated brass knurled handle & oval cross guard. The knife is ‘sterile’ with no manufacturer or Unit marks. The knife has a 177 mm long blade with medial ridge. The blade is clean. Its original scabbard has a nickel plated chape and integral belt loop. AS is common its original 4 sewn on leather tabs have been cut back in the period and its original elasticated retaining strap is absent. Cased Post 1952 QEII British Wilkinson Sword ‘Best Officer Commando On Course Prize’ Nickel Plated 3rd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes FS Fighting Knife With Etched Panel. Sn 20444:11 - 20444:11 An excellent, original, 3rd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife with etched Wilkinson Sword panel. These post WW2 quality knives were reputedly presented to the ‘best officer commando on course’ after completion of their arduous training and are highly prized fully functional fighting knives. The 3rd pattern knife was introduced in 1942 (see page 61 & 62 of British & Commonwealth Military Knives By Flook) and continued to be issued post war. This Commando Officer’s prize has an undamaged ribbed and Nickel Plated alloy handle and oval Nickel Plated steel cross guard. It has a 174mm dagger blade with medial ridge. The blade has an etched panel on one side ‘Wilkinson Sword Ltd Made In England QE II Royal Appointment’ within foliate panel & crossed swords legend. The etching is crisp. The dagger is contained in its quality red leatherette wrapped wooden case. The case has a hinged lid and clasp fasteners. **ISSUED BUT UN-USED**WW2 Wood Hilt Fairbairn Sykes, FS Far East Operations Commando & RAF Fighting Knife With ‘X7’ Marked Cross Guard & Scabbard. Sn 20164 - 20164 An original WW2, FS Far East Operations dagger and correct scabbard in very good condition (see Page 137 of The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives By Flook). The hilt is natural wood with correct grooved grip and an oval blackened brass cross guard (these daggers were made with both steel and brass cross guards, see item 9.33 page 137 of Flook’s book for an example with brass cross guard. In his book Flook indicates that these wood hilt FS knives were also issued to RAF air crew). The cross guard is stamped ‘X7’ most likely a unit or armoury weapon number. It has a 163 mm steel dagger blade with medial ridge. The blade is clean. The dagger has its original leather scabbard with belt loop, elasticated retaining strap and 4 sewn on leather tabs. **SOLD**3/12**WW2 Era British WD Fairbairn Sykes FS Commando Fighting Knife Beaded & Ribbed (9 Rows Of Beads) & Scabbard. Sn 19482 - 19482 The Beaded & Ribbed variant of the Fairbairn Sykes FS Fighting knife was available as a private purchase weapon but were also Military issue. Beaded & Ribbed versions have been found with 9,8,7 & 6 rows of beads (see page 127 of The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives by Ron Flook). This WW2 era WD marked Beaded and Ribbed Pattern Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife has a brass beaded and ribbed grip with 9 rows of beads. The hilt is stamped with WD arrow above number ‘2’ mark. It has a 172mm long blued blade with medial ridge. It is complete with original scabbard with external brass chape, 4 original sewn on leather tabs and belt loop with elasticated retaining strap. Sn 19410 - 19410 An excellent, full size, Fairbairn Sykes pattern fighting knife. This knife has an undamaged smooth bakelite or tropical hard wood handle. It has a blued oval cross guard and blued 167mm dagger blade with medial ridge. There are no manufacturer or date marks on this knife. It is complete with tan leather scabbard which has an external chape and single belt loop with elasticated retaining strap. All leather and stitching of the scabbard are clean & intact. WW2 Wood Hilt Fairbairn- Sykes, FS Far East Commando Fighting Knife & Correct Scabbard. Sn 19035 - 19035 An original WW2, FS Far East Operations dagger and correct scabbard in very good condition (see Page 137 of The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives By Flook). The hilt is natural wood with grooved grip and an oval steel cross guard (these daggers were made with both steel and brass cross guards, see item 9.33 page 137 of Flook’s book). The wood handle has a couple of fine old stable cracks near to the cross guard only visible on close inspection. The cracks are stable and the hilt and blade secure with no movement. The pommel has the correct screw bolt. It has a 175mm steel dagger blade with medial ridge. The blade has areas of light staining consistent with age. The dagger has its original correct leather scabbard with belt loop and retaining strap with stud fastener. The riveted and stitched scabbard is in the same very good condition, clean with all leather and stitching intact. The leather is impressed ‘Made In Sheffield England’. WW2 British Soldier’s Private Purchase W.H Fagan & Son Sheffield Fairbairn Sykes F.S. Style Fighting Knife/Dagger & Period Adapted Victorian Scabbard Mounted With Middlesex Regiment Brass & Enamel Badge. Sn 18980 - 18980 This is a WW2 private purchase F.S. style fighting knife/dagger by W.H. Fagan Sheffield and scabbard. These knife were private purchase weapons during WW2. The pommel and cross guard are alloy. It has a solid stag antler or bone grip with red and black spacers. The dagger blade measures 136mm and it is 255mm overall length. The FS style blade with medial ridge is clean and sharp. One side of the blade has the maker’s name ‘W.H. Fagan & Son’, the reverse ‘Made In Sheffield England’. The adapted original Victorian era scabbard is in very good condition. Made of dark brown leather it has an integral belt loop with retaining strap and press stud fastener which functions as it should. The scabbard has a brass chape and throat mount. The throat mount is mounted with an original Middlesex Regiment brass and enamel badge. The leather has just surface scuffs to be expected with age and service use. The price includes UK delivery.
