French Indo China / Vietnam War Era Aluminium Handled Combat Dagger & Scabbard. Sn 11854 - 11854 These Combat knives were carried by French Troops during the Indo China War in the 1950’s and American Troops found them still in service with the Vietnamese during the Vietnam War (see page 122 of The Military Knife & Bayonet By Brett) . This original example has the correct 1 piece cast Aluminium handle with finger guard & stippled panels on either side. It has a 6” single edged blade with short fuller on one side. The blade has staining and areas of pitting consistent with age and service use. It is complete with original leather scabbard which has an integral belt loop with retaining strap and press stud fastener. All rivets stitching and leather of the scabbard are intact. Fred James Sheffield Hand Made 'I*XL Canadian Hunting Knife' Bowie With Etched Blade, Ivorine Grips With Mother Of Pearl Inlays & Sheath. Sn 11960 - 11960 Before his death in 1986 Fred James was one of Sheffield's best known Bowie Knife makers. He began his career in 1935 at Johnson's Portobello Works & continued work at Wostenholm's Washington Works in 1956. In 1971 when the companies of Wostenholm and Rodgers merged, James began his own knife making business (see pages 214-215 of The Sheffield Knife Book By Tweedale). This handmade Fred James 'Canadian Hunting Knife' is in excellent condition. The knife has Ivorine scales with Mother of Pearl roundel inlays and brass cross guard with clipped edge decoration. The deep swept 6” Bowie blade has a tooled back edge and is etched on one side with banner containing wording ‘The Real I*XL Knife’ above bold lettering ‘Canadian Hunting Knife'. The ricasso is stamped "F.W James Sheffield". The Bowie is 10 ½” overall length. The Bowie is complete with a black leather sheath which has tooled decoration to the front. Silver Bladed Hallmarked 1908-1910 Sheffield Pocket Knife With Mother Of Pearl Slabs Manufactured By Allen & Darwin. Sn 11478:8 - 11478:8 A silver bladed hallmarked 1908-1910 Sheffield pocket knife with mother of pearl slabs manufactured by Allen & Darwin of Sheffield. The knife has very nice mother of pearl slabs which are secured with three pins. On one there is a silver inlaid name plate with "Percy" engraved on it. See the photographs. The blade is hallmarked silver and has the makers mark "A & D" (Allen & Darwin). The blade is in excellent condition and locks out firmly and with no play. It closes and is firm when closed. Victorian Silver Bladed Hallmarked 1900-1901 Sheffield Pocket Knife With Mother Of Pearl Slabs & Name Plate To Donald MacLeay. Sn 11478:5 - 11478:5 A Victorian silver bladed hallmarked 1900-1901 Sheffield pocket knife with mother of pearl slabs with name plate to Donald MacLeay. This is a very nice pocket knife. The mother of pearl is of a high quality and the slabs are secured with three pins. One slab has an inlaid name plate with "Donald Macleay" engraved on it. The back strap between the slabs is also ornately engraved. The single blade is hallmarked silver with a makers mark "A.S". The blade is in excellent condition. It measures 72mm long. Silver Bladed Hallmarked 1920-1921 Sheffield Pocket Knife With Engraved Mother Of Pearl Slabs. Sn 11478:4 - 11478:4 A silver bladed hallmarked 1920-1921 Sheffield pocket knife with engraved mother of pearl slabs manufactured by John Yeomans Cowlishaw of Market Street, Sheffield. The knife has very nice engraved mother of pearl slabs which are secured with three pins. On one there is a silver crest inlaid with "L J" engraved on it. The engraving is of a high quality. See the photographs. The blade is hallmarked silver and has the makers mark "JYC" (John Yeomans Cowlishaw). The blade is in excellent condition and locks out firmly and with no play. It has an ornately engraved end at the blade hinge. It has a single hallmarked silver blade which is tight when folded and open. It has no play when open. The blade measures 60mm. WW2 U.S Cattaraugus 225Q ' Quartermasters' Fighting Utility Knife And Sheath. ED 2393 - ED 2393 During WW2 Quartermaster staff needed a heavy duty combat knife which was strong enough to open ammunition boxes and crates. The American Company Cattaraugus produced the 225Q (Q for Quartermaster), which because of their strength, soon found their way into regular service as a combat knife ( see page 67 Of U.S Military Knives By Cole & page 123 of US Military Knives Collectors Guide By Silvey & Boyd). This is a nice original example. It has a sturdy, broad single edged fullered 6 1/4" blade (10 ½” inches overall). The ricasso is crisply engraved with the 'Cattaraugus' signature legend and designation '225Q'. The blade has some areas of staining consistent with age. Its banded handle made from compressed leather washers is in good condition with just service wear to be expected. It has a steel finger guard and large oval steel pommel with flat chequered end. The knife is complete with original leather sheath with stud fastening retaining strap which functions perfectly and integral belt loop. Price includes UK delivery. ED 2393 £225.00 |
