MINT, Hand Made Winchester Skinning Knife With German Solingen Stainless Steel Blade, Stag Horn Handle & Sheath. Sn 14487 - 14487
This is a near mint skinner hand made in Germany for the American arms company Winchester. It has a Stag Horn handle with German silver pommel cap and ribbed ferrule. It has a clean 4" single edged blade with small integral finger guard and measures 8 ¾” overall length. One side of the blade is etched ‘Winchester’ within blued banner above ‘The Original’ and ‘Handmade Stainless Solingen’. Victorian English George Butler & Co Trinity Works Sheffield Bowie Knife With Stag Horn Scales & Leather Sheath. Sn 14444 - 14444
A very good Victorian era English Bowie & Scabbard. It has undamaged stag horn scales & German Silver cross guard. The scales and tang are holed for wrist cord. It has a 4 ¾” single edged, deep swept, Bowie blade, marked by the manufacturer ‘George Butler & Co Trinity Works Sheffield England’ with ‘key’ trademark (George Butler & Co Sheffield C1810-1952, see pages 169-170 of the Sheffield knife Book by Tweedale). Its original riveted & stitched brown leather sheath has an integral belt loop. The rear of the sheath and belt loop are stamped ‘Laker’ most likely the manufacturer or retailer of the sheath. Vietnam Period WW2 U.S. Navy MK 2 Fighting Knife By Camillus and Leather Scabbard. ED 2208 - ED 2208
This is an original Vietnam period MK 2 WW2 U.S. Navy Fighting Knife made by Camillus in its scabbard. The grip is constructed of the correct compressed laminated leather washers (see pages 73 to 84 of of ‘US Military Knives by Cole’). It has a steel cross guard and a 7" parkerised bowie blade. The blade is marked "U.S. CAMILLUS" (Camillus Cutlery new York). The pommel is secured by pin. This is an impressive, original, Large Bowie Knife made in Sheffield by the now deceased J.E. Middleton & his sons Ron & Roy Middleton. It has a pristine 9 ¾” long deep swept Bowie blade which is a broad 1 ¾” at its widest edge. The back of the blade has scalloped tool work. The knife measures 14 ½” overall. The ricasso is stamped with the Knife makers name 'J.E. Middleton & Sons, Rockingham Street, Sheffield'. It has a brass cross guard and curved Stag horn handle with brass end cap. The Bowie has its brown leather scabbard. The rear of the scabbard has a single belt loop impressed ‘RM’ (either Ron or Roy Middleton who made the scabbards for Middleton & Sons Bowies). This is an impressive, large Bowie Knife hand made by J.E. Middleton (now deceased) & Sons. It has a perfect 8 ¾” long deep swept Bowie blade which is a broad 1 ¾” at its widest edge. The back of the blade has scalloped tool work. The ricasso is stamped with the famous Knife makers name "J.E. Middleton & Sons, Rockingham Street, Sheffield". It has a brass cross guard and polished Buffalo horn scales secured by brass rivets. Both of the brass pommel sections are embossed in the form of a mythical beast hybrid ‘Horse/ Alligator’. This Bowie is 14 ¼” in length overall and is complete with its black leather scabbard. The rear of the scabbard has a single belt loop impressed ‘RM’. RARE LIMITED PRODUCTION, 1962 - C1965, British Royal Navy Diver's Knife By Siebe Heinke London & Brass Scabbard Marked ‘Non Magnetic AP 6261’ Slotted For Belt Loop. Sn 14330 - 14330
This is a hard to find, original, British Royal Navy Diver's Knife and Scabbard. The knife has a 1 ½”broad, 7 ¾” long double edged spear point blade with medial ridge (13 ¼” overall) The double edged blade is undamaged with just light staining consistent with age. The blade is crisply marked by the manufacturer 'Siebe Heinke (London)' this dates the knife to 1962 - C1965. Heinke was taken over by Siebe Gorman in 1962. The dual names were only used for 2 to 3 years before the Heinke name was dispensed with. The knife has a brass cross guard, ferrule & tang nut together with dense black plastic contoured grooved handle. The knife is complete with its original solid brass scabbard with belt slot. Imperial German Deer Hunting Skinning Knife By Stephan Nenning Munchen With Stag Horn Handle, Silver Mounts & Sheath With Ornate Silver Mounts. ED 2160 - ED 2160
This is an original Imperial German era Deer hunting skinning knife with original sheath. It has a Stag Horn handle with plain Silver pommel cap. It also has a Silver ferrule ornately engraved with an Oak leaf design. The knife has a 4" single edged blade with integral finger guard and is crisply marked on one side by the manufacturer or retailer ‘Stephan Nenning Munchen’. The blade is undamaged and has staining consistent with age. There is no damage to the blade and the cutting edge is sharp with no nicks. It measures 7 ¾” overall length. The dagger is complete with original black leather sheath which has a silver chape and throat mount. Both are ornately decorated with Oak leaves and panels featuring Stags in the field and banners & arms. All leather and stitching are intact. VERY RARE, WW1 Gallipoli Bring Back, German Made Turkish Contract Machine Gun Crews Trench Fighting Knife With Integral Fold Out Tools In The Hilt, Scabbard & Frog. Sn 13885 - 13885
Although this piece has no visible German manufacturer marks it is of the quality and form of the type of WW1 era German made Turkish Army contract knives most likely issued to machine gun crew’s and would likely have been in service at Gallipoli. The knife has the appearance of a knife bayonet but no apparent means of fitting to a rifle. It has slab wood grips secured by rivets. The grips are undamaged. The grip frame is slotted and has 2 integral hinged fold out tools consisting of a 2 ¼” long shank spike with thumb lever and 2 ¼” slim pyramid shaped spike with side slot for thumbnail opening. The knife measures 12" overall and has a 7 ¾” single edged blade with fullers. The blade has just light staining consistent with age. Its returning wave cross guard has what appears to be Turkish script characters on both sides. The knife is complete with its original steel scabbard which has a frog bar and ball end. The scabbard has no dents. The scabbard is fitted with its original brown leather frog with integral belt loop. The leather and stitching of the frog are intact. WW2 U.S.M.C. MK 1 Ka-Bar Fighting Knife & Leather Sheath. ED 2133 - ED 2133
This is an original MK 1 WW2 U.S. Ka-Bar fighting knife in its correct leather sheath. The grip is constructed of the correct compressed laminated leather washers with four grooves and with plastic spacers top and bottom. It has an alloy cross guard which is stamped "Ka-Bar Olean N.Y." and a 150 mm polished bowie blade. The pommel is alloy and oval. It is complete with a heavy duty leather sheath with belt loop and retaining strap with working brass press stud fastener. According to M.H. Cole in his book 'US Military Knives", no two of the U.S.N. Mark I are identical. Each manufactures had its own variations and as such a huge collection of different types can be amassed.
