**SCARCE**WW2 Era Romanian Axis Powers Army Officer’s Eagle’s Head Hilt Dress Dagger With Crown MI (King Michael 1st) Device & Scabbard With Original Leather Frog. Sn 20192 - 20192
In WW2 Romania joined the Axis Powers on 23 November 1940. As a member of the Axis, Romania joined the invasion of the Soviet Union (Operation Barbarossa) on 22 June 1941, providing equipment and oil to Nazi Germany as well as committing more troops to the Eastern Front than all the other allies of Germany combined. Romanian forces played a large role during fighting in Ukraine, Bessarabia, Stalingrad and elsewhere. Romanian troops were responsible for the persecution and massacre of 260,000 Jews in Romanian-controlled territories, though half of the Jews living within Romania itself survived the war. Romania controlled the third largest Axis army in Europe and the fourth largest Axis army in the world, only behind the three principal Axis powers of Germany, Japan, and Italy. Michael I (25 October 1921 – 5 December 2017) was the last king of Romania, reigning from 20 July 1927 to 8 June 1930 and again from 6 September 1940 until his forced abdication on 30 December 1947. This is an original WW2 Era Romanian Axis Powers Army Officer’s Eagle’s Head Hilt Dress Dagger With Crown MI (King Michael 1st) Device & Scabbard With Original Leather Frog. The small dagger measures 9” overall. It has a nickel plated brass Eagle’s head hilt with red glass eyes. Its chequered polished horn scales are secured by 2 rivets. One scale has the ‘brass crown above MI’ device of King Michael the first. The hilt has a nickel plated brass finger guard with slightly curved quillon. The unsharpened 5 ½” long blade has staining consistent with age. The knife is complete with its original nickel plated steel scabbard with frog bar and ball tip. The scabbard is fitted with original leather frog which has 2 belt loops and steel buckles. All leather and stitching of the frog are intact. This is an original German WW1 Trench Dagger. It has a deer's foot handle with brass ferrule and wave steel crossguard. It has a clean 5 ¼ " blade with medial ridge (10" overall). The hilt is fitted with original felt washer. The blade is crisply marked by the manufacturer 'Acier Superieur Garanti' between 2 Anchors. German WW1 Fighting/Trench Knife And Scabbard. ED 881. - ED 881
This is an original German WW1 fighting/trench knife with a wooden grip and a 6 1/8 inch blade sharpened for its length on one edge. The other has a short false edge. The crossguard and ferrule are made of steel. The knife is contained in its original steel scabbard which retained some of its original black paint and the remains of its belt loop. This is an excellent, original, Siebe Gorman type Diver's Knife and Scabbard as used by British Royal Navy divers. The knife has a clean 194mm long double edged spear point blade with medial ridge (334 mm overall). The blade has no visible manufacturer marks. The blade is magnetic. The knife has a brass cross guard, ferrule & tang nut and has a ribbed & contoured grooved ebonite handle. The knife is complete with solid brass scabbard with belt slot. The English cutlers George Butler & Co Sheffield are recorded C1810-1952 located at their Trinity Works (see pages 169-170 of the Sheffield Knife Book by Tweedale). This is an original Victorian era English Bowie by George Butler & Co made their Trinity Works address with Scabbard. It has stag antler scales & brass finger guard with ball ends. One scale has an old stable &secure fine crack. It has a 5 ¾” single edged, blade, marked by the manufacturer ‘George Butler & Co Trinity Works Sheffield England’ & ‘key’ trademark. The blade has staining consistent with age and use. The knife measures 10 ¼” overall length. Its open top brown leather scabbard has an integral belt loop. German Folding Bowie Knife and Scabbard. ED 2529. - ED 2529
The knife has a 7 1/2" steel single edged blade with false edge. The blade is released from it's open locked position by folding over a steel tab at the base of the grips and pressing, the blade then folds into the handle and locks firmly leaving a useful shorter blade bowie knife (4" blade) The grips are antler and retained with six brass pin rivets. German silver shield-shaped escutcheon, with an amateur engraving which will polish out. Contained in its original russet leather form-fitted scabbard with integral belt loop and German silver tip. Condition: Very good. Blade showing light age related wear which should polish out. Mechanically sound. Scabbard near perfect. The belt loop appears to have been restitched. There are no makers marks on the blade, however, this most probably will have been made in Weyersberg, Solingen. The price includes U.K. delivery. ED 2529.

Late 1800's Morrocan Jambiya Knife with Inlaid Wooden Hilt & Curved Double Edged Blade Etched Panel and Scabbard. ED 2705. - ED 2705
The Jambiya also known as the Arab knife is in some modification found in every country in which the Arabs have lived. The blade is always curved and double edged. The finest quality examples of these knives are found in Persia & India (see pages 310 to 314 of ‘A Glossary Of The Construction Decoration & Use Of Arms & Armour’ by Stone where many variants of Jambiya are described and illustrated). This is an excellent Morrocan Jambiya made sometime in the late 1800's. It has a typical 9 ¾” long double edged dramatically curved steel blade with correct medial ridges on both sides. The hardwood hilt is undamaged and has inlaid steel fittings including pommel cap. The dagger measures 16” overall length. The heavy metal scabbard is overlaid with Morrocan scrolls and has two shaped hangers either side of the mouth. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2705.

Georgian Era C1750 British Naval Midshipman’s Dirk / Dagger With Antique Marine Ivory Hilt & Scabbard. Sn 19128 - Sn 19128
Naval forces began to use dirks in the mid to late 1700s. Historians differ on whether dirks originated with the Danish Navy or the British Royal Navy but they were widely used by England’s sea service. During the period 1780 to 1820, the Officer/ Midshipmen strength of the Royal Navy varied from about 3,500 to 6,000. Despite the popular notion that only Midshipmen used dirks, early paintings show dirks worn by high-ranking Naval Officers as well as Midshipmen. This original British Navy Midshipman’s fighting dirk has a clean 8 ½” long double edged dagger blade. The blade has no visible manufacturer or date marks. The dirk measures 12” overall and has an antique marine ivory handle with brass finger guard and ball top brass pommel cap. The dirk is complete with original brass mounted leather scabbard which has a single brass hanging ring. All leather and stitching of the scabbard are clean and intact. Victorian Pre 1876 William Morton Sheffield Spear Point Bowie Knife with Buffalo Horn Scales, Folding Cork Screw, Removable Spike & Tweezers With Leather Scabbard. Sn - 16151
The date William Morton launched his knife making business is unknown but he is listed as a spring knife maker in Darnall in 1868. William Morton & Sons Sheffield were first listed in directories in 1876 at the old Rockingham Works 175 Rockingham Street, Sheffield as makers of pocket knives and sports knives (see page 231 of the Sheffield Knife Book by Tweedale). This is an excellent Victorian era folding Bowie Knife by William Morton in its original leather scabbard. The knife's 6 ¾” spear point bowie blade has just light staining consistent with age. The knife measures 11 ¼” overall length. The blade is crisply marked on one side with the manufacturer’s name ‘W. Morton Sheffield’ together with the manufacturer’s ‘Weighing Scales’ trade mark. It has undamaged chequered Buffalo horn scales which are slotted for original removable tools which consist of a 3 ¾” pin sharp steel spike and a pair of steel tweezers. It has a German Silver finger guard. The steel grip frame incorporates a folding cork screw. The knife is complete with original open top brown leather scabbard which has an integral single leather belt loop. All leather and stitching are intact. The price includes UK Delivery. Sn 16151.

Along with Joseph Rodgers, George Wostenholm is possibly the most famous name in Sheffield cutlery. Geo Wostenholm’s first knife making works were established in 1785. The Wostenholm business now forms part of the Egginton Group, Sheffield. This is an excellent Custom Hand Made Hunting / Skinning Knife by Wostenholm & Son. It has Stag Horn scales with ornate tooled brass foliate decoration finger guard and pommel bolsters. It has a 4" single edged blade which is razor sharp and measures 8 ¼” overall length. The blade is etched on one side ‘George Wostenholm & Son I*XL Sheffield England’. The blade has light areas of staining.
