Edwardian 1901-1910 Joseph Rodgers & Sons Ebony Handled Bowie Knife & Black Leather Sheath. Sn 13888. - 13888
This is a beautifully marked bowie knife by the premier Sheffield knife maker of the Victorian and Edwardian era. It is clearly marked on one side of the 5 ¾“ long polished blade with "E.R." and a Crown over "J. Rodgers & Sons, 6 Norfolk Street, Sheffield, England" denoting manufacture in the Edwardian era of 1901-1910. The other side of the blade carries the corporate mark of an asterisk and a Maltese Cross. The grips are black ebony, chequered and held in place by one pin. The scabbard is top quality black leather with a belt loop riveted to the back. These knives were often carried by officers in WW1. (See 'The Sheffield Knife Book' by Geoffrey Tweedale page 257-265 and Ron Flooks ' British & Commonwealth Military Knives' pages 23, plate 29 for a WW1 knife of a similar style with a knuckleduster). *Scarce* Norwegian First Model David Anderson Hunting / Fishing Knife and Open Top Leather Scabbard With Norwegian 925 Sterling Silver Mounts. 21301. - 21301
This is a scarce original first model David Anderson Hunting / Fishing knife made C1960’s by the Norwegian Cutler David Andersen with its original silver mounted scabbard. It is 8 ½” overall length with a sharp, 4” steel drop point blade. The knife has an undamaged solid hard wood handle. The hilt has a polished Norwegian silver ferrule. The knife comes with its original open top, black leather scabbard which has a Silver throat mount marked ‘D-A 925S Norway Sterling’ together with Norwegian scales hallmark (illustrated). The throat mount has an integral black leather belt loop *missing see images*. The scabbard has a stitched rear seam and Norwegian silver chape *movement but intact* . WW1 Era British Officer’s Private Purchase Bowie Trench Fighting Knife by Chas Clements London & Leather Scabbard. Sn 12519:1. - 12519:1
Chas Clements were a long established firm of WW1 era cutlery retailers based in London. Clements made popular private purchase weapons during WW1 including trench daggers & knuckle knives (See pages 19 & 20 of British & Commonwealth Military Knives by Flook). This a is an original WW1 era British Officer’s private purchase trench fighting knife by Clements with its original leather scabbard. It has an ebony handle which has a deep chequered design. The pommel has an exposed brass stud. It has a German Silver ferrule at the hilt and a slim undamaged 4 ¾” single edged, Bowie shaped steel blade, marked ‘Chas Clements’. The knife measures 9 ¾” overall length. Its original brown leather scabbard has belt loop to the rear which also acts as a retaining strap for the knife (an eyelet at the end of the retaining strap fastens to the stud in the pommel of the knife and keeps it securely in the scabbard). A small area of stitching at the throat of the scabbard which forms the lower end of the strap into a belt loop is missing but this could easily be replaced. All leather of the scabbard are intact. **RARE**QUALITY**Late 19th Century Imperial German ‘Friedrich Jacob Bartels Wiesbaden’ Clamshell Boar & Stag Hunting Dagger / Dirk / Sidearm With Hunting Scenes Etched Sawback Blade, Stag Antler Hilt & Original Steel Mounted Leather Scabbard With Skinner. - 21300
This is a rare, quality made Imperial German Clamshell Hunting Dagger / Dirk / Sidearm made in the late 19th century. These substantial weapons were carried when hunting large game such as Boar for self defence and to deliver the 'death blow' to the hunted prey. This example has a heavy Stag Antler hilt with heavy metal fittings including cross guard with scalloped edges, large clamshell, ferrule and pommel cap. Its heavy 1 ½” broad blade is sharp has a deep cut, sharp sawback. The blade is nicely etched on both sides. One side has a wild boar in the field hunting scene above the maker’s name ‘Friedrich Jacob Bartels Wiesbaden’ (The cutler & barrel maker Friedrich Jacob Bartels was located at Bahnhofstrasse 5, Wiesbaden Germany, in 1896. In 1910 his address was Bahnhofstrasse 10). The reverse has Stag in the field etched hunting scene. The blade has just light staining consistent with age. The blade is 9 ¾” length and has its original leather hilt washer. The piece measures 15” overall. The weapon is complete with its original leather scabbard with heavy metal fittings consisting of a large throat mount with frog locket which has an integral steel holster for its skinning knife. The skinner has a solid Stag antler hilt with clean 2 ¾” long steel blade (5 ¼” overall length). The leather & stitching of the scabbard are clean & intact. **MINT**Cased, Limited Edition D.L.I. Blade 406 Of 500, WW2 Commemorative Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn Sykes 3rd Pattern FS Fighting Knife 'United We Conquer 1940-1945' With Etched Blade & Factory Commissioned Durham Light Infantry Regiment Badge. Sn 21321 - 21321
The British Commandos were formed in the early stages of the Second World War, in June 1940, following a request from the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, for a force that could carry out raids against German-occupied Europe. Initially drawn from within the British Army from soldiers who volunteered for the Special Service Brigade, the Commandos' ranks would eventually be filled by members of all branches of the United Kingdom's armed forces and a number of foreign volunteers from German-occupied countries. Reaching a war time strength of over 30 individual units and four assault brigades, the Commandos served in all theatres of war from the Arctic Circle to Europe and from the Mediterranean and Middle East Theatre to South-East Asia. Their operations ranged from small groups of men landing from the sea or by parachute to a brigade of assault troops spearheading the Allied invasions of Europe and Asia. All Commandos were issued with the iconic FS Fighting knife. This attractive full size (11 1/2" overall) 3rd pattern FS Commando dagger was produced post WW2 by Wilkinson Sword in a Limited Edition of 500 blades to Commemorate the British Commandos WW2 Service 1940-1945 (see page 97 items 482 & 483 of Fighting Knives by Stephens). The knife is in near mint condition. It has a 180mm long nickel plated blade etched on both sides in gilt, one side ‘1940-1945’ the reverse ‘United We Conquer’. The ricasso of one side is etched with the Wilkinson Sword manufacturer's panel & QEII Royal Appointment. The reverse has blade number ‘W (Wilkinson) 309 (blade number of 500)’ there is also a factory etched Regimental badge of the Durham Light Infantry gilt etched on the blade no doubt commissioned by the original owner at time of purchase from Wilkinson (the Durham Light Infantry (DLI) was an Infantry Regiment of the British Army from 1881 to 1968). The cross guard is nickel plated. The ribbed handle is brass with gilt finish. The dagger is contained in its original ‘Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn Sykes London’ marked quality leatherette wrapped wooden case. The case has a hinged lid and clasp fasteners. The inside of the case is lined with felt and cushioned silk which has a Wilkinson sword label. It is contoured to snugly fit the dagger. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 21321

An excellent WW2 US M3 Fighting Knife By Kinfolks, M8 Scabbard With Integral Frog & Coiled leather thigh cord all in excellent un-issued condition. Kinfols Incorporated werer based in Little Valley new York USA, they made approx. 135,548 M3 fighting knives (see pages 95-101 of Cole’s book U.S Military Knives and page 97 item No.16 where a cross guard marking the same as ours are illustrated). The underside of the cross guard is stamped "US M3 KI (Kinfolks)". The compressed leather ringed handle and blade are undamaged. The top of the pommel has the 'ignited grenade' Frankford Arsenal mark. The knife has a blackened 6 ¾” blade with medial ridge & is complete with original green plastic M8 scabbard with integral green webbing frog which has a single retaining strap, press stud fastener and hanging bar. The upper mount of the scabbard is stamped 'USM8' & by the manufacturer 'BM Co'(Beckwith Manufacturing Company). The rear of the scabbard is marked ‘VP’ (Victory Plastics) above number ‘32’. Scandinavian ‘Puukko’ Knife and Leather Sheath. 21043. - 21043
A puukko is a traditional Finnish general purpose belt knife with a single curved cutting edge, solid hidden tang and, usually, a flat spine. This lovely example has a stunning barrelled handle showing different coloured grains in the wood. The pommel is brass coloured metal and is shaped into a horses head. The fullered blade is 9 ½ cm long (knife 21 ¼ cm overall). The brass coloured metal bolster as with blade is uniquely inscribed with countries from around the globe from Scotland to Malta and Sierra Leone. The fitted leather scabbard has ornate artwork inscribed into the leather with a belt loop attached the scabbard is in very good condition with all stitching intact. Swedish Folding/Barrel Knife with Carved Grip. ED 888. - ED 888
Swedish barrel knives are a take apart folding blade knife also known as a folding ‘sloyd’. They have been produced in Eskilstuna, Sweden since the mid-19th century until around 1952. Barrel knives were also produced in Germany, England, Finland, Norway and America. This example is brass tipped to the barrel and main body of the knife. The single edged blade is in good condition. The knife is secured inside a barrel shaped holder which is made from a dark hardwood and intricately carved. The blade is folded and stored within the barrel and is released by pinching the securing bar. There is a cap to one end with a hole to secure a lanyard. In the closed position the barrel including blade measures 11 ½ cm. The blade length is; 7 ¾ cm (including handle; 18 ¾ cm). The price for this nice example includes UK delivery. ED 888. *Unique* Small Bone Handled Scandinavian ‘Puukko’ Knife in a Reindeer Antler Sheath. 21041. - 21041
A puukko is a traditional Finnish general purpose belt knife with a single curved cutting edge, solid hidden tang and, usually, a flat spine. This knife made in Geilo in Norway (Geilo is centrally located between east and west Norway and known for tool making and skiing) is stamped to the blade on one side. The single edged blade is 8 ¼ cm long (29 ½ cm overall) inserted into a one piece bone handle entwined in leather. The unique sheath is made from a Reindeer antler held with brass rivets and capped with a leather shroud and belt strap. The price for this unusual knife and sheath includes UK delivery. 21041. C1962 U.S. Camillus Type 2 Jet Pilots Survival Knife and Sheath with Sharpener. 21066. - 21066
This Camillus Type 2 Jet Pilots knife was shortened to a 5” blade in 1962. It was developed by the U.S. Navys weapons bureau and Marbles Arms Corp in 1957. It was designed and engineered as a key weapon for use by the Navy Air Corps. Although Marbles Arms Corps was instrumental in developing this knife, most of those that furnished the Navy were made by Camillus Cutlery Co. Then re-designed in 1962 when the blade was shortened by one inch. See pages 147 & 148 of U.S. Military Knives by M.H.Cole. It has the correct undamaged compressed leather washer ringed handle. The riccasso has crisp marking ‘Camillus New York U.S.A.’ (Camillus Cutlery Company New York). The double edged blade is clean as is the saw toothed back edge. The hilt has two small holes which can be used to be fastened to the wrist. The oversized sheath with extra rivets is in excellent condition with the original sharpening stone present.
