This scrapbook commemorates Hitler’s rise to power and contains images of prominent Nazi figures, Nazi Rallies and parading SA & Hitler Youth Units. The book is in excellent condition and has German text throughout. The red cloth bound hard back book has black lettering ‘Adolf Hitler’ on the front and spine. This is a set of 3 volumes recently released from the Imperial War Museum Reserve Stock. The books comprise of a copy of Field Artillery Training, dated 1914, covering all aspects of field artillery including driving of the guns and gunnery, ammunition etc. the second copy is for Garrison Artillery Training and is also dated 1914 and covers coastal batteries, night fighting, guns and gunnery, ammunition etc. The third copy is Artillery Training, volume II, gunnery dated 1923. This book covers elementary gunnery, ammunition, time fuses, ranging, etc. Two of the three volumes carry Imperial War Museum And Library stamps and Withdrawn From Stock stamps. The Garrison Artillery Training copy has a written inscription of T.H.F. Parks, R.G.A (Special Reserve) Oct 1914 which could be worthy of further research. The first is a very comprehensive hard back book Machine Gun Training dated 1925 with 406 pages. This book is profusely marked throughout with “INPERIAL WAR MUSEUM LIBRARY” rubber stamps. The book contains many amendments in both gummed inserts and hand written notes. Sections include training, fire control and use of the machine gun in war. There are 3 small arms training booklets; Small Arms Training, Volume I, Pamphlet No 7 .303 Machine Gun Part II.-Training dated 1944. Original and complete cigarette card collector's book titled Der Weltkrieg (The World War) compiled in Germany in 1937 as a commemoration of World War I. This scrapbook for cigarette cards from the 1930s provides an invaluable pictorial record of World War I. It captures the German perspective of the War in picture and writing and functions as a reference book for multiple generations. It features 270 full-colour cigarette cards, all are present and securely fixed, illustrating significant German battles and events. The scrapbook was issued by Cigaretten-Bilderdienst Dresden. This scrapbook captures the German perspective of World War I in pictures and writing. Themes such as nationalism, armed forces, everyday life during the war and stereotypical images of the enemy forces are referenced by the visual iconography. Through the chapters the progression of the war is illustrated. The individual sections are organised around each year of the war, 1914-18. The introduction to each chapter lists the different theatres and progression of the war. This summary is followed by sections, which under individual headings like 'Reason and Start of War', display cigarette cards and a short description of the image on that card. The first chapter also features a map of Belgium, France, Germany and parts of Switzerland in 1914 with the German armies and their campaigns. The appendix features cards depicting life behind the front line, the war in the colonies, and Germany's enemies. While the cigarette cards are in colour, the chapters are predominantly printed in sepia. The exception are maps of the East and West front, and the battles in Italy, Serbia and the Orient, which took place in 1915. The book measures 13 3/4" x 10 1/4". The price includes UK delivery. The Flintlock: Its Origin And Development by Torsten Link. BO 311 - BO 311
This is the first English translation of a masterly study of The Flintlock which was originally published in 1939 but in Swedish. The author was the director of the Swedish Royal Armoury which he had joined in 1924. This book was the result of 15 years of research and was in fact his doctoral thesis making it a masterly and important study of the flintlock. The book charts the development and history of the flintlock from its original concept to its successor, the percussion cap. The book is profusely illustrated with crisp black and white photographs showing both full flintlocks and minor details of decoration etc. the book which was published by The Holland Press, London in 1965 is in excellent condition with its original dust wrapper which is complete but with sellotape to the edges.
