British Wilkinson Sword 1943 Royal Navy Contract Lanchester S.M.G. Bayonet And Scabbard. BAYO 334 - BAYO 334 This is a scarce Lanchester S.M.G. (Sub Machine Gun) bayonet manufactured by Wilkinson during W.W.2 and it is recognisable from a standard 1907 pattern bayonet by the Wilkinson wartime code S294 together with W.S.C. (Wilkinson Sword Company) and 4 43 (April 1943, date of manufacture). The scabbard is the standard No1 mk II with a tear drop frog stud. See Skennerton, pates 230 – 231, item B281. British 1876 Pattern Martini Henry Rifle Socket Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 323 - BAYO 323 This is a pattern 1876 Martini Henry rifle socket bayonet with good markings on the blade. It blade is stamped is stamped with the Broad Arrow over WD , an Enfield inspection mark, 850 crossed out, FWA 7 / 85 (July 1885 the original date of manufacture) struck out and over stamped 11 / 94 (November 1895 date). This bayonet has seen some service. The bayonet measures 25 inches overall with a blade length of 21.7 inches with a socket 3 inches in length. The brass mounted leather scabbard has a broad arrow over W.D. and an Enfield inspection stamp on the top locket. The scabbard also carries Nepalese script suggesting later issue to an Indian unit. Un-available UN-AVAILABLE British Pattern 1887 Early MK I Sword bayonet & Scabbard. BAYO 306 - BAYO 306 This is an early MK I Pattern 1887 sword bayonet newly made by Enfield in 1887 and not a converted 1886 Pattern. The blade has a fuller on each side and carries a Crown over "V.R." and the date "87" (1887). The other side of the blade carries the broad arrow over WD and an inspection stamp. The top edge of the blade also carries 2 inspection stamps. The grips are the first pattern knurled leather type, held by 4 steel rivets. The pommel carries N.E.P. over 8627 which is an unknown regimental marking. The scabbard is the standard steel mounted black leather type and the mouth of the scabbard carries the stamping FA800 and 265. See Skennerton's Bayonet Book, Pages 160 to 163 item B205. WW1 1910 Dated British 1907 Bayonet By Enfield and Regimentally Stamped To Oxfordshire Light Infantry & Scabbard Converted For Drill Purposes. Bayo 303 - Bayo 303 This is a converted 1907 bayonet which has had the tip rounded off for drill purposes. It is stamped on the ricasso with a Crown over "E.R." followed by "1907 11 10 (Manufactured November 1910) and "E.F.D." (Enfield). The other side is stamped with a War Department Broad Arrow and several inspection stamps. The pommel is stamped with "OX" over "321" denoting regimental use by the Oxfordshire Light Infantry. UNAVAILABLE UNAVAILABLE British India Pattern Socket Bayonet and Leather Scabbard. Bayo 283 - Bayo 283 This is a nice Pre 1803 India Pattern socket bayonet. It is stamped on the blade with "S. Dawes" and as such pre dates 1803 when the firm became "W & S Dawes" (1803-1813). The blade is also stamped with a Star and the number "2". The socket is stamped with the number "228". The blade measures 17", 21.75" overall. The socket itself is 4.1" with the muzzle ring diameter being 25mm. The brown leather scabbard is missing the top chape but otherwise is in very good condition. (see Skennerton's item B72, pages 54-57). The price includes UK delivery. Bayo 283 £0.00 |

British 1842 Pattern Socket Bayonet. Bayo 268 - Bayo 268 This is an 1842 pattern socket bayonet with 'Lovell's Lug'. It has an overall length of 21" with a blade length of 17" and a muzzle ring diameter of 24m. It features the new line rounded shoulders with Lovell's lug and a groove cut in the rim for sighting. The blade is stamped with a Crown over "B" over "8" over "E X" over "X" over "T S". The bayonet is un-common but is pitted overall, hence the price. The price includes UK delivery. Bayo 268 £165.00 |

British Land Pattern Socket Bayonet. Sn 12917 - 12917 This is similar to the example in Skennerton's, item B49. It has a slightly longer slot than the usual Land Pattern and could fit some sea service models with a foresight closer to the muzzle. However the blade is only 16" long, which Skennerton suggests could denote Indian Service. (see Skennerton's, page 40, Items B49 & B50). This is a socket bayonet worthy of further research. British Pattern 1842 Socket Bayonet By Wheeler. Sn 12786 - 12786 This is a 1842 Pattern socket bayonet. It has a straight great condition triangular polished steel blade. It has an overall length of 20.9", a blade length of 17" with a muzzle ring diameter of 24mm. The blade is marked with the name "Wheeler" and two inspectors marks. There is also an inspectors mark on the socket lug. The blade also carries the initials "R.C." with an upside down No 1 above . (see Skennerton Item B139 Pages 100-103). MINT WW1 GALLIPOLI, British 1911 Dated 1st Pattern Hook Quillion P1907 Bayonet Regiment Marked ‘4 SWB’ To The 4th Battalion South Wales Borderers, 1st Type Scabbard & 1908 Pattern Webbing Frog With Helve Carrier Strap. BAYO 202 - BAYO 202 The Famous Gallipoli Campaign, took place on the Gallipoli peninsula (Gelibolu in modern Turkey) in the Ottoman Empire between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916. The campaign resulted in massive loss of lives and casualties for British and allied forces. The South Wales Borderers took part in the campaign and the 4th Battalion lost 400 Officers and men out of 775 that landed at Gallipoli. The Battalion fought with distinction throughout the campaign and were given the honour of providing the rear guard in the evacuation of Suvla bay. The Battalion were amongst the last to leave and only a few survived. This is a rare, near mint hook quillion 1907 pattern bayonet for SMLE rifles manufactured in September 1911 by Enfield. The ricasso is marked '1907 (Pattern), 'EFD (Enfield) '09 ‘11(Date) & 'King’s Crown'. The reverse has inspection stamps. The blade is clean. The wood slabs are undamaged. The pommel is crisply stamped with Regiment mark ‘4SWB’ to the 4th Battalion South Wales Borderers. It is in its original 1st type brown leather scabbard with correct steel locket and internal chape. The leather is impressed with small Enfield inspection marks and WD arrow. The scabbard is fitted with an original WW1 1908 pattern webbing frog with rear helve carrier strap. The rear of the frog has faint ink stamp which appear to be ‘HG’ (manufacturer) and WW1 date ‘17’ (1917). All leather, material & stitching of the scabbard and frog are intact. Early Production, Pre WW1, 1909 Dated Hook Quillon 1st Type 1907 Pattern Sword Bayonet By Wilkinson Marked 'NK' To The Norfolk Regiment & 1st Pattern Scabbard With Internal Chape. Sn 12170 - 12170 The Norfolk Regiment entered the First World War with two regular, one reserve and three Territorial Force Battalions (one of cyclists), with the Regiment expanding to nineteen Battalions. The Norfolk Regiment also raised many service Battalions during the war who were a part of Lord Kitchener's New Armies. The service Battalions were created specifically for service in the war, believed, at the time, to be the War To End All Wars. The total number of men raised during the war and who served with the Norfolk Regiment amounted to 32,375 of whom 5,576 were killed and many thousands wounded. The Regiment served with distinction on the Western Front and after the war in 1931 the Regiment was renamed the Royal Norfolk Regiment. This is an excellent 1st Type, hook quillon '07' sword bayonet by Wilkinson, complete with original 1st type scabbard. These bayonets were introduced in January 1908 (see page 186 of British & Commonwealth Bayonets by Skennerton). This example was made in 1909, a year after production began. The sword bayonet has a 17" steel single edged blade which is stamped on the ricasso with the Kings crown 'ER' (Edward Rex)and '1907' (pattern) together with date '3 09' (March 1909) and 'Wilkinson' (manufacturer) . On the reverse it is stamped with inspection marks. The bayonet is fitted with its original 1st Type hook quillon cross guard which incorporates a muzzle ring. The wood grips are undamaged secured with two screw bolts. Both grips are impressed with inspection marks. The pommel is stamped 'NK' (Norfolk Regiment) above ‘R540’. It is complete with its original 1st Pattern leather scabbard with steel locket and internal chape. All the stitching and leather of the scabbard are intact.
