*A British 1888 Pattern MkI ‘2ND Type’ Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 697. - BAYO 697
This is a nice British 1888 pattern Mk1, 2nd type bayonet made at ‘Enfield’ and marked to the ricasso with crown over V.R. and 1 ’91 (January 1891) The other side carries a broad arrow over W.D. and an inspection stamp. There are also two inspection stamps on the spine. The grips are wooden with an oil hole. Behind the top brass rivet and the pommel carries the number ‘16’. The bayonet is contained in its MkII scabbard with internal chape but sadly missing the frog. See Skennerton item B213 page 169. It is marked to the leather with a broad arrow ‘ 02 (1902) and two inspection stamps. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 697.

British L3A1 Bayonet, Scabbard and Two Frogs For the SA80 Rifle. BAYO 687. - BAYO 687
This is an excellent L3A1 bayonet which was introduced in 1985 to fit the new L85A1 service rifle. It was an innovative design incorporating many new features. The scabbard is made of Phonolite plastic and is contained in its green canvas sheath dated 1991. Also included is a white ceremonial plastic sheath. German WW2 M88/98 3rd Model Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 675
This is a nice 3rd model K98 bayonet with wood grips. Blade length 10”. Overall length 15”. It was made by Mundlos AG, Maedebure Nord and is marked to the blade with their wartime code of 5244G. The blade retains all of its original bluing. There are two Waffenampt stamps to the pommel. The scabbard is stamped with 42 cof which is the wartime code for Carl Eickhorn. A nice wartime combination by a lesser manufacturer. See White & Watts No 295 pages 115 & 132. £175. BAYO 675.

British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 671
This is a nice early 1853 socket bayonet from the first batch ordered from the Birmingham manufacturers. A total of 20,020 bayonets were ordered of which 4100 were from Willian Beakin & Son and this example is marked Deakin to the blade together with W.D and a feint inspectors mark. Length overall is 20.5” with a blade length of 17” and a socket length of 3”. The Muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) is 20mm. The early type scabbard is brass mounted brown leather with a teardrop frog stud. See Skennerton item B145 pages 105-109. A nice early marked 1853. £325 BAYO 671.

British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 668
British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. This is a nice Birmingham maker marked 1853 socket bayonet from the second batch of 1853 pattern bayonets ordered from 1856 on, from both Enfield & The Birmingham trade makers. This example is stamped Reeves with an undecipherable mark below on the blade and the number 162 on the socket. The length overall is 20.5” with a blade length of 17” and a socket length of 3”. The Muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) is 20mm. The scabbard is the early pattern (1853-1860) with teardrop frog stud let into the brown leather as opposed to the later variants where the frog stud was attached to the top locket. British Wilkinson 1888 Pattern Mark I, 2nd Type, Lee Metford Bayonet And Scabbard - BAYO 631
This is a British Lee Metford, 1888 pattern Mark I, 2nd type bayonet manufactured for the British .303 calibre Enfield, Lee Metford Rifle. The bayonets 12 inch double edged blade is unfullered with a medial ridge running from the ricasso to the blade tip. The ricasso of the blade is marked WILKINSON LONDON with a feint crown over VR 2’91 (February 1891 manufacture date). The other side carries an broad arrow over W.D. and an inspection stamp. The pommel carries the number R56. The grips are made of wood, held together with two brass rivets. There is an oil clearance hole behind the back rivet. The scabbard is the Mark 1 steel mounted black leather with no damage and all of the stitching intact. See Skennerton item B213 page 169. Price includes UK delivery. BAYO 631

British No 7 MK 1 L, Bayonet For The No 4 Rifle & MK V Sten Sub Machine Gun, With Swivel Handle, Scabbard & Webbing Frog - BAYO 278
This is an original No 7 MK 1 L, bayonet with swivelling pommel made for the No 4 rifle and MK V Sten Sub Machine Guns. The 'L' designation is for Land Service. The bayonet has a 7 3/4” blade (12 ¼” overall) with bowie knife style blade and deep fuller to both sides. The blade is stamped on the ricasso 'No 7 MK1/L' and there are no visible manufacturer marks. The scabbard is the No 5 Mark 2 with the brass mouthpiece. The scabbard is fitted with an original webbing pattern ’37 khaki frog stamped with RR1971 a broad arrow and 678 6108 to the rear. See Skennerton item B299 on page 243 for further information. This is a Lee Metford, 1888 Mark I second type bayonet manufactured for the British .303 calibre Enfield, Lee Metford Rifle. The bayonets 12 inch double edged blade is unfullered with a medial ridge running from the ricasso to the blade tip. The ricasso of the blade is marked WILKINSON LONDON 7 ‘93 (July 1893 manufacture date) ‘03and various other inspection stamps. The other side carries an arrow over W.D. and an inspection stamp. The grips are made of wood, held together with two brass rivets and there is an inspection stamp on each one. There is a oil clearance hole behind the top rivet. The steel pommel carries the mumber 50 which is repeated on the top of he scabbard mouthpiece which is a standard 1888 mark 1. See Skennerton item B213 on pages 16 - 173. British Volunteer Pattern 1888 Mark II, 2nd Pattern, Lee Metford Bayonet And Scabbard - BAYO 626
This is a Volunteer pattern 1888 Mark II second pattern bayonet manufactured for the British .303 calibre Lee Metford Rifle which were issued to British and allied forces during the Boer war and in WW1. The bayonet blade is in good clean condition with original polish, 12" in length, double edged, unfullered with a medial ridge running from the ricasso to the blade tip. The bayonet and scabbard are completely devoid of any markings except for the number 26 stamped into one of the wooden grips as per photograph. The bayonet is devoid of an oil hole in the grips or the pommel. The bayonet is contained in the correct standard 1888 mark 1 steel mounted leather scabbard for this bayonet. At some point in this bayonets service, the scabbard has lost its steel bottom chape. See Skennerton item B216 page 170 and 171. The leather price includes UK delivery. BAYO 626

Post Mutiny Indian Issue Victorian British India Pattern 1859 Socket Bayonet (NOT P1853) For Enfield Smoothbore Muzzle Loading Muskets and Scabbard. BAYO 607 - BAYO 607
This is a P.1859 Enfield socket bayonet. These are often confused with P.1853 socket bayonets but have longer sockets to fit the longer barrel P.1859 long barrel smooth bore Enfield muskets (see page 331 of Skennerton’s British & Commonwealth Military Bayonets). A label accompanying the bayonet describes it as post mutiny issue. It has a clean 17” triangular blade. The blade has a small inspection mark. The blued socket is 77mm length. The scabbard is brass mounted leather with a tear drop frog stud and the seam stitching to the rear. All leather and stitching are clean and intact. The leather has WD & arrow mark. The bayonet fits the scabbard. The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 607
