UNAVAILABLE British Land Pattern Socket Bayonet By John Gill. BAYO 595 - BAYO 595
This is a British land pattern socket bayonet, circa 1801 and a similar version is shown as B49 on page 40 of Skennertons British and Commonwealth Bayonets book the blade is marked with the makers name ‘JOHN GILL’, this being the only marking on the bayonet. The overall length of the bayonet is 20 ½ inches with a socket length of 4 inches. The bayonet has a muzzle ring diameter of 25mm. The stud to muzzle length is 1.6 inches. This is a nice early example of a British socket bayonet. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 595

1978 British Royal Factory Ishapore India Arsenal (RFI) No.5 Jungle Carbine Bayonet & Scabbard. BAYO 595 - BAYO 595
This is a very good British No.5 Jungle Carbine Bayonet and Scabbard. These bayonets were used during WW2 and post war. The bayonet with fullered, 8" Bowie style blued blade (12" overall) has muzzle ring, cross guard and pommel with lug button that has a good strong spring action. It has slab wood grips secured by screw bolts. The blade is manufacturer marked ‘RFI’ (Royal Factory Ishapore India Arsenal) at the ricasso together with ‘78’ (1978 date). The bayonet is complete with its steel scabbard which is undamaged and has original black finish. The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 595

Scarce Bushed Pattern 1876 Socket Bayonet. BAYO 592 - BAYO 592
This is a scarce converted Martini Henry pattern 1876 socket bayonet which has been bushed to fit the .303 Martini Enfield rifle which has a smaller barrel diameter. To allow for the higher foresight on the Martini Enfield, the bridge in the socket rim has been cut out. The overall length of the bayonet is 25”, with the blade being 21.4” and the socket 3”. The muzzle ring diameter is now 16.8mm. The blade carries the broad arrow over W.D. with a crowned E over 48 and the date 2/88 (February 1888). The blade also carries what appears to be Egyptian marks and this ties in with Skennerton who shows this bayonet as No.M7 on page 378 of his book. The leather scabbard is the standard 1876 pattern with 2 rivets for the internal spring with brass mounts. The top mount caries a war department broad arrow over W.D. and an inspection stamp together with 452 on the frog stud. The chape carries a broad arrow over W.D. Belgium Model 1924 Short Bayonet And Scabbard. BAYO 589 - BAYO 589
This is a Belgium Model 1924 short bayonet made to fit the Belgian FN24, FN30 and the Czech VZ24 rifles. There are no markings on the bayonet except for a serial number 28560 stamped to the end of the pommel. The scabbard has been painted green early in its life. These bayonets were made to compete in the international arms market during the 1920s and 1930s, especially against the Czechoslovakian producer Brno who made a virtually identical bayonet called the VZ 24. This bayonet was also copied by Yugoslavia where it was also designated the 1924. See Martin J. Brayley, An Illustrated History of Bayonets on pages 35 – 37. Belgium Unusual Conversion Of A Belgian Albini-Braendlin Socket Bayonet. BAYO 587 - BAYO 587
This is an unusual conversion of a Belgian socket bayonet. The socket has had a long groove cut into the top of the socket. Possibly for raised sights. The locking ring has a spade type screw fixing for hand tightening. The blade is 17 ½” long. The socket measures 3” long with a muzzle ring diameter of 24mm. The leather scabbard is of the type used for the Albini-Braendlin socket bayonet and this bayonet fits the scabbard perfectly. There is a number 4?807 stamped into it. Canadian WW1 Ross Mk II Bayonet And Scabbard. BAYO 586 - BAYO 586
This is a Mk II Ross bayonet with a modified blade profile. This modification was authorised in October 1915 to give better penetration over the more rounded original blade shape tip. The pommel carries the Canadian Government ownership mark of an arrow within a Capital C, the Ross factory inspection mark of a crown over 4 and the date of manufacture 1/16 (January 1916). The other side carries Ross Rifle Co. Quebec Patented 1907. The grips carry feint Ross factory inspection mark and one grip has A246 1 17 and R stamped into it. The spine of the tang also carries 2 Ross factory inspection stamps. The scabbard is the Mk II version with a wider belt loop and internal locket and chape. WW1 Scarce Canadian Marked Wilkinson 1907 Pattern Bayonet & Scabbard. BAYO 580 - BAYO 582
This is a scarce Canadian marked marked WW1 production P1907 bayonet by Wilkinson. The blade carries the crown over G.R. and 1907 followed by 8 18 (August 1918) and Wilkinson. The other side of the blade carries the broad arrow. The pommel carries the Canadian acceptance stamp of a broad arrow within a C. The wooden grips are wood held by 2 screw bolts. The Canadians used the Ross rifle at the start of the war bt due to accidents and failures under battlefield conditions it was withdrawn and replaced by the S.M.L.E rifle. This is a P1907 bayonet used by the Canadians towards the end of the war. Canadian bayonets are scarce and do not turn up often of the collectors market. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 580

British Shortened Martini Henry Yataghan Sword Bayonet And Scabbard. BAYO 573 - BAYO 573
This is a shortened Martini-Henry bayonet and scabbard for use by cadets. The blade has been converted from the longer yataghan style blade by shortening it and re-shapeing the point which means the fuller runs through to the point. The only marking is the blade carrying the initials A.S. The mortice slot has been chamfered for Martini-Henry rifles and the muzzle ring has been bushed to 18mm. The rest of the bayonet is with original configuration with black leather grips and a leaf spring press stud. The scabbard is a shortened version of the original. German M98 Dress Bayonet, Scabbard And Knot by Robert Klass, Solingen. BAYO 572 - BAYO 572
This is a nice complete set comprising a German M98 dress bayonet with the longer 9 ¾ inch blade carried by enlisted min and the blade is marked with the maker Robert Klass, Solingen below their trademark of 2 kissing cranes. The blade is virtually mint and has a fuller on each side. The black chequered plastic grips are undamaged and are retained by two rivets. The pommel has a mortice slot and a working button. This bayonet also retains its original leather hilt washer. The scabbard is the standard black gloss painted version with some wear to the paint but no damage. The frog is the standard small black leather version and comes with a red and silver dress knot that has been with the frog all of its life. WW1 Imperial German Ersatz Bayonet. BAYO 571 - BAYO 571
This is a scarce model of a German Ersatz bayonet with an extended muzzle ring. Ersatz bayonets usually have no muzzle ring or just a rudimentary ‘ears’ type configuration. This bayonet is similar to item 311 in The Bayonet Book by Watts &Watts and will only fit the Belgian Mauser M1889 rifle. The grip also appears to be the same shape as the Belgian model.
