German S84/98 Bayonet and Scabbard. - BAYO 680 German S84/98 Bayonet and Scabbard. This is a wartime production bayonet and scabbard and is a third pattern with wood grips. It is marked to the blade with 42 cul which is the wartime code for WKC, Waffefabrik, Solingen Wald. This is repeated on the mouth of the scabbard. The other side of the blade carries 5940 and the pommel has two Waffenampt stamps. The scabbard is steel and has the numbers 963? Stamped to the top. The tip of the scabbard also carries a Waffenampt stamp. The bayonet has obviously seen action but is in good collectable condition for a wartime dated example. German late WW2 M88/89 3rd Model Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 677 This is a late production K98 bayonet made in 1944 by E & F Horster and marked to the blade with their wartime code of 44asw. There is only one visible waffenampt stamp to the pommel and the overall finish is not up to the usual standard. The scabbard is also a late war version with the finish not being as good as normal. This is marked to the top with 44cof which is the wartime code for Carl Eickhorn. A nice late war combination and a must for the serious collector. Austrian M1895 Mannlicher Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 676 This is a nice N.C.Os (Non-commissioned officer) version of the M1895 Mannlicher bayonet made at Steyr. It is marked to the blade with OE over WG (Osterreichiche Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft Steyr) and the double headed eagle denoting use by the imperial forces and not for export. The blade is 9 Ύ in length nad has rounde fullers. The crossguard is secured by 2 rivets and has a hooked quillon. The grips are wood secured by domed rivets and the pommel has a hole which would have had a steel knot loop (now missing but easily replaced) The scabbard is steel with a brazed frog stud. German WW2 M88/98 3rd Model Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 675 This is a nice 3rd model K98 bayonet with wood grips. Blade length 10. Overall length 15. It was made by Mundlos AG, Maedebure Nord and is marked to the blade with their wartime code of 5244G. The blade retains all of its original bluing. There are two Waffenampt stamps to the pommel. The scabbard is stamped with 42 cof which is the wartime code for Carl Eickhorn. A nice wartime combination by a lesser manufacturer. See White & Watts No 295 pages 115 & 132. £175. British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 671 This is a nice early 1853 socket bayonet from the first batch ordered from the Birmingham manufacturers. A total of 20,020 bayonets were ordered of which 4100 were from Willian Beakin & Son and this example is marked Deakin to the blade together with W.D and a feint inspectors mark. Length overall is 20.5 with a blade length of 17 and a socket length of 3. The Muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) is 20mm. The early type scabbard is brass mounted brown leather with a teardrop frog stud. British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 668 British 1853 Pattern Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. This is a nice Birmingham maker marked 1853 socket bayonet from the second batch of 1853 pattern bayonets ordered from 1856 on, from both Enfield & The Birmingham trade makers. This example is stamped Reeves with an undecipherable mark below on the blade and the number 162 on the socket. The length overall is 20.5 with a blade length of 17 and a socket length of 3. The Muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) is 20mm. The scabbard is the early pattern (1853-1860) with teardrop frog stud let into the brown leather as opposed to the later variants where the frog stud was attached to the top locket. German Firemans Dress Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 667 This is the long version of the Firemans Dress Bayonet as worn by the ranks of Feuerwehrmann to Brandmeister. WW2 era. It has a 9 Ύ blade with wide fullers and a recurving or S shaped crossguard. The Pommel is solid with no mortise slot or release button and the grips are black chequered plastic. There is a very fine old hairline crack in one of the scales. Both scales are very solid and secure. There are no makers or other marks to the blade. The scabbard is the standard black type. British India Pattern 1859 Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. - BAYO 666 British India Pattern 1859 Socket Bayonet & Scabbard. This is an India pattern 1859 socket bayonet which is often confused with the British 1853. Except for the larger muzzle ring diameter (M.R.D) of larger 20.4mm to fit the larger profile barrel of the India 1859 musket. It is 20.5 in overall length with a blade length of 17 Ό and a socket length of 3. The blade is marked with an inspection stamp and other un-deciphered letters. There is a W in a square on the elbow and a P on the locking ring. The scabbard is brass mounted leather. See Skennerton item 130, pages 330 & 331. BAYO 666 £325.00 |

WW1 Imperial German Ersatz Bayonet. - BAYO 665 This is a nice M99/98 all steel Ersatz bayonet similar to No335 in White & Watts, the bayonet book. It is nearly 16 Ύ overall with a fullered blade length of 12. The stepped muzzle ring is open at the top of the steel hilt has an oil drain hole behind the cross guard. Unfortunately there is no scabbard as is often the case with Ersatz bayonets. A nice example of an Ersatz bayonet. BAYO 665 £125.00 |

British India Pattern 1859 Socket Bayonet & Second Type Scabbard . - BAYO 664 This is an India pattern 1859 socket bayonet which is often confused with the British 1853 pattern. It is similar to the 1853 except for the larger Muzzle Ring Diameter (M.R.D) of 20.4mm to fit the larger profile barrel of the India 1859 musket. It is 20.5 overall length with a blade length of 17 and a socket length of 3. The blade is marked with a broad arrow over War Department (W.D) and an inspection stamp. The scabbard is the second pattern of leather with brass chape and top locket with teardrop frog stud. See Skennerton item 130 pages 330 & 331. BAYO 664 £325.00 |
