Pre WW2 1937 Dated Nazi German K98 Mauser Model 1884/98 (3rd Model) Bayonet By S/177 (Ernst Pack & Son Solingen) & WW2 1943 Scabbard By ‘asw’ (E&F Horster Solingen) With Leather Frog. BAYO 402. - BAYO 402 This is an original model 1884/98 Nazi German Mauser bayonet for K98 rifles. It is dated '37' (1937) on the back of its clean blade. The bayonet has wood grips which are undamaged and is stamped on the ricasso with the Nazi manufacturer code S/177 (Ernst Pack & Son Solingen). The reverse is stamped number '5722 b'. The pommel is waffenamt. It’s steel scabbard is numbered ‘2329’, has date ‘43’ (1943) and Nazi manufacturer code ‘asw’ (E&F Horster Solingen). The scabbard is undamaged with even patina and light areas of service wear. The ball end of the scabbard is waffenamt. The scabbard is fitted with an original dark brown leather frog. All stitching and leather are clean and intact. There are no visible manufacturer marks on the frog. The price includes UK delivery. BAYO 402. £195.00 |

Nazi M98 Dress Bayonet By W.K.C. Scabbard & Frog. BAYO 114. - BAYO 114 An standard Nazi M98 dress bayonet and scabbard. The dress sidearm for military and civilian uniformed formations was designated the M98 Dress Bayonet. This bayonet represented a stylised form of the S. 84/98 bayonet purchased by the individual for wear with the walkout dress uniform and was worn by the mainly non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel. This dress bayonet has a rifle mortise and push button release. It retains the red felt in the mortise slot. This is the short version with a 7 3/4" blade which carries the makers logo along with "W.K.C." The polished steel blade is in excellent condition. The grips are chequered and secured with two rivets. It has a metal scabbard with lozenge shaped frog stud and leather frog. (see 'German Clamshells' book pages 15-16 by Gary L. Walker & R.J. British Land Pattern Socket Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 603. - BAYO 603 This is a variation of the Land Pattern Socket bayonet shown as B49 on page 40 of Skennertons book. The Land Pattern Socket Bayonet was the first somewhat standardized socket bayonet utilised by the British military. This example is similar to the bottom illustration on page 40 and has a stud to muzzle length of 2”. The blade length is 38 ¾ cm, 52 ¼ cm overall. The scabbard is brass mounted black leather with some stitching open on the rear seam, but is tight and firm. The locket and chape have movement but are connected. The price includes UK delivery. C1800 British Land Pattern Socket by Maker John Gill. BAYO 578. - BAYO 578 This is a nice Land pattern or India pattern socket bayonet from circa 1800. It is marked to the flat of the blade with John Gill’ (a John Gill is recorded working with his father Thomas Gill in London 1807 "Sword Cutler & Gunmaker". 83 St. James’s St., London and John Gill also recorded as Birmingham 1805-1817) and a Broad Arrow over ‘W.D.’ Blade length 39 ¼ cm, 52 ¼ cm overall. The slot is slightly longer than the usual Land pattern, by around 4” to fit a musket with foresight closer to the muzzle. See Skennerton item B49 page 40 for similar and page 56 for makers marks. *Rare* German M1871 Dress Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 577. - BAYO 577 This is a rare maker, dress or walking out bayonet. It is marked to the blade with the trademark of Carl Kaiser & Co. of Solingen who were known as good quality manufacturers of walking out bayonets, although according to Anthony Carter, examples are very rare. The blade also carries etched foliate panels on both sides with staining consistent with age. The cross guard is steel with a muzzle ring, and the hilt is brass but with no provision for attachment to a rifle. The original red felt pad is present to the ricasso. The scabbard is brass mounted black leather with no bends or creases to the leather. A nice example of an M1871 walking out bayonet by a rare maker. *Unusual* Polish Conversion of a German S 98/05 Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 576. - BAYO 576 See ‘German Bayonets the Models 98/02 & 98/05 page 59 for reference. This appears to be one of the Polish post WWI conversions, as the flash guard has been partially removed and there is a number ‘7333’ stamped to the pommel. The blade carries the original makers mark of ‘Waffenfabrik Mauser’ and a crown over ‘W & 17’. The blade is clean, the grips are intact and only showing minor signs of service wear. The scabbard has staining relative to its age, with service wear marks. This is an unusual piece worthy of further research and a must for the German bayonet variations collector. *Scarce* U.S. Remington Rolling Block Rifle Bayonet M1902 & Scabbard. BAYO 325 - BAYO 325 This is a scarce M1902 bayonet produced initially for Mexico and the Latin American market, however, the Remington rifles and bayonets were supplied to France during WWI and these are marked t the fuller with ‘Remington Arms-Union Metallic CTG. Co. Rem Works. Ilion. NY. U.S.A.’ The scabbard was originally steel with a leather hanger, but this example is in later P17 version which often happened with these bayonets, however, it is priced accordingly. The blade is showing signs of age related wear, the wooden grips are in good condition held with two pins. The scabbards metalwork has a nice patina and the stitching on the leatherwork is intact. *Scarce* American Remington Bayonet and Scabbard. BAYO 322. - BAYO 322 This is a scarce bayonet and was used in the U.S. by the militia and the U.S. Navy. It was also exported in small quantities especially to Mexico. This example carries no marks to the blade but the grips carry an impressed C.R. however, the leather scabbard which is steel mounted with an integral belt loop which carries a feint oval with ‘U.S. Ord Dept. & Naval Yard’ stamped to the leather. The other side carries the initials ‘C.R.’ twice as appear on the grips. The blade is in good order, as are the wooden grips, only showing minor signs of age. *Wartime Issue* No5 Bayonet and Scabbard. 20444:9. - 20444:9 This is a nice wartime issued bayonet with no discernible marks to the blade apart from a War department Broad Arrow to the pommel. (The No. 5 Bayonet was the bayonet used with the No 5 Lee-Enfield which is nicknamed "Jungle carbine ".The bayonet was a blade which marked a return of the British Army to using blade type bayonets like the Pattern 1907 bayonet instead of socket bayonets such as the No. 4 Bayonets used on the No. 4 Lee-Enfield.). The pommel shows signs of issue wear, the grips are contrastive but the blade carries most of its original finish. The scabbard is the ‘No5 MkI’ with steel mouthpiece. No7 Mkl/L Bayonet Scabbard and Frog. 20444:6. - 20444:6 This is a nice No7 bayonet marked to the blade with ‘No7 MkI/L’. The pommel carries a broad arrow and ‘A V ‘over ‘2’. The bayonet shows signs of issue wear, but no damage. The grips are in near perfect condition. It is contained in its ‘No5 MkI’ scabbard with steel mouthpiece, which is showing no damage. The frog is a tan ‘1937’ pattern with a broad arrow and ‘1941’ to the rear, all of the stitching is in place. See ‘Skennerton’ item B299, pages 242 – 244. The price includes UK delivery. 20444:6.
