**QUALITY MAKER**English C1830 Henry Nock London Pair Of 50 Bore Percussion Pocket Pistols With Fluted Screw Off Barrels & Folding Concealed Triggers. Sn 21393:42 - 21393:42 Henry Nock was a British inventor and engineer of the Napoleonic period, best known as a gunsmith. As well as supplying the military and civilian markets, Nock made expensive pieces for the aristocracy and Royalty and was an appointed gunmaker to the King. Nock's business eventually became Wilkinson Sword. This is an excellent pair of percussion pocket pistols by Henry Nock London. The matching pistols are beautifully engraved with Arms and Banner designs around the steel frames. Both have Dolphin hammers and sliding safety bolts. One side of each pistol is marked by the manufacturer 'H. Nock' and the reverse 'London'. Both measure 5 ¾” overall & have just under 1 ¾” fluted barrels. The barrel’s smooth bores are clean. The muzzle of each barrel are slotted for tool to assist barrel removal, we do not have the tool. Both pistols have concealed folding triggers & the underside of the actions & barrels have black powder proof marks. They both have undamaged bag shaped wood grips which have chequered panel back sections and are inlaid with void silver escutcheons. Their cocking & firing actions work crisply. SOLD SOLD (LAY-AWAY) C1799 Henry Petitjean Liege Belgium Gentleman’s Side By Side Double Screw Off Cannon Barrelled .500 Calibre Flintlock Traveling Pistol With Inlaid Silver Wire Decoration Stock & Londonderry ‘LY’ Irish Registration Marks. - 21393:41 Henry Petitjean was a Liege arms manufacturer between 1770 and circa 1799. This is a quality made flintlock double barrel traveling pistol by Petitjean. Its side by side turn off steel cannon barrels are each 4” in length. The pistol measures 11” overall length. The muzzle of each barrel are slotted for tool to assist barrel removal, we do not have the tool. The bores of each barrel are near mint clean and bright with well defined rifling. Each barrel has 1843-1846 ‘LY 539’ (County Londonderry) Irish Registration Marks indicating later entry into Ireland (the Irish Registration Act was passed in 1843 and lasted only a short while, until August 1846. There were 39 districts consisting of 34 counties, 4 boroughs and Dublin City each with its own two letter prefix followed by a number. Londonderry’s prefix was LY). Its excellent, original Walnut stock is inlaid with intricate silver wire decoration. It has single trigger (the first pull fires the right barrel the second pull the left) & Swan neck cocks. The action has foliate decoration and is signed by the maker, one side ‘Henry’ the reverse ‘Petitjean’. The trigger guard tang has what looks like a small ‘JG’ mark most likely a period parts maker. 1856 French Mutzig Arsenal Model 1822 .700 Calibre Muzzle Loading Dragoon Cavalry Percussion Pistol With Regulation Brass Fittings & Iron Powder Measure Ram Rod. Sn 21449:3 - 21449:3 An original French Model 1822 Mutzig Arsenal Dragoon Cavalry pistol. Many of these pistols were carried by Confederate troops in the American Civil war supplied by their French allies. This French Dragoon pistol has a Walnut Stock with regulation brass fittings. The all original stock has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age. The brass has several French inspection marks. The action plate is stamped with ‘Mutzig Arsenal’ detail. The 7 ¾” sighted barrel dated 1856 has inspection marks and numbers (illustrated). The pistol’s smooth bore is clean. The pistol retains the original iron ramrod with hollow powder measure cup tip. The pistol cocks and dry fires with a strong action. The pistol’s brass butt has an iron military lanyard ring. This is a fine example of this pistol, substantial and well made. Victorian 1858 British WD Enfield Tower .650 Carbine Calibre Percussion Pistol With Regulation Brass Fittings, Military Lanyard Ring & Captive Ram Rod. Sn 21449:2 - 21449:2 This is a nice, original British Enfield Tower percussion pistol. It has all original wood work with regulation pattern brass fittings, including trigger guard with extended tang & butt plate with fixed steel military lanyard ring, brass ram rod flute and fore stock plate. It has a heavy military hammer & captive steel ram rod. It measures 15 ¾” overall with an 9” round steel barrel. The smooth bore is clean. The barrel has English black powder proofs. The barrel and butt plate have number ‘2’ inspection marks. The action works crisply. The action plate is signed with the Enfield ‘Tower’ mark, Crown VR (Victoria Regina), 1858 date and WD arrow inspection mark. The price includes UK delivery. **NAPOLEONIC WARS ERA**Georgian British WD Enfield Tower New Land Pattern .650 Carbine Calibre Flintlock Light Cavalry Pistol To The ‘WNYC’ (West Norfolk Yeomanry Cavalry) With Brass Mounts & Captive Steel Ram Rod. Sn 21449:1 - 21449:1 A volunteer unit, the Norfolk Rangers, was raised as a home defence force in the county of Norfolk in 1782, during the American Revolutionary War, by the Hon George Townshend. Lord Ferrers of Chartley (later 2nd Marquess Townshend). It consisted of a troop of cavalry and an infantry company. The unit was accepted as Yeomanry Cavalry in 1794, and during the Napoleonic Wars there were three regiments, the West Norfolk, Mid Norfolk and East Norfolk. This is an excellent, original Napoleonic wars era Georgian New Land Pattern Enfield Tower flintlock pistol to the West Norfolk Yeomanry Cavalry. It has all original wood work with brass fittings, including trigger guard with extended tang, fore end block & cudgel butt. The trigger guard is engraved ‘WNYC’ to the West Norfolk Yeomanry Cavalry & has a weapon number ‘51’. The metal and brass have other 2 digit numbers (illustrated). The wood has just light bumps and bruises to be expected and has factory inspector’s impressed initials ‘II’. It has a heavy military cock & captive steel ram rod. It measures 15 ½” overall with a 9” round steel barrel. The smooth bore is clean. The barrel has crisp proofs and inspection mark. The action works crisply. The lock plate is signed with the Enfield ‘Tower’ mark & has a WD / Board of Ordnance inspection mark together with Georgian Crown & Royal Cypher ‘GR’ (George Rex). The price includes UK delivery. SOLD SOLD (16/03) **RARE**QUALITY**C1799-1802 English Oakes London 4 Barrelled, Over & Under, Tap Action, 80 Bore, Flintlock Pistol With Screw Off Barrels, Safety Bolt & Sliding Pan Flash Protector Guard. Sn 21393:39 - 21393:39 This is a quality made tap action 4 barrel flintlock pistol by Oakes of London (the only reference we can find to a gunmaker named Oakes in the flintlock era operating in London is Oakes & Colley 5 Oxford Street 1799-1802, see page 189 of British Gunmakers Vol.1 by Brown). It's round steel screw off barrels are just under 2 ¼” in length (7 ¼” overall length). The barrels are slotted at the muzzle opening for tool to assist barrel removal. The smooth bores are clean. Both the barrels and action have matching numbers ’13,14,15,16’. The underside of the action has English black powder proofs. Its heavy steel frame is nicely engraved on both sides with martial arms and banners. The action is signed on one side ‘Oakes’ and the reverse ‘London’. The trigger guard is engraved with a foliate design. It has a steel safety bolt, sliding pan flash protector guard and cock fitted with flint. The pistol's bag shaped walnut grip is undamaged. The pistol cocks and dry fires crisply and the tap action operated by a rounded lever on the left side of the pan functions correctly. RESERVED RESERVED Early 19th Century English W. Bond London 50 Bore Brass Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Screw Off Barrel. Sn 21393:37 - 21393:37 A large family of English Gunsmith’s named Bond had premises at various London addresses including at 108 Leadenhall Street, 45 Cornhill and at 'The Golden Blunderbuss' 59 Lombard Street, between 1762 & 1879. The Bond's made and supplied firearms to The British East India Company. A member of that family William Thomas Bond is recorded as working as a Gunsmith on his own at the family addresses in 1836. A William Bond is also recorded as working as working with Edward Bond at 45 Cornhill 1826-1855 and Northumberland Alley London 1871-1879 (see page 143 of British Gunmakers Vol 1 by Brown). This is a nice, brass Flintlock pocket pistol by W. Bond. It measures just over 6” overall with a just under 1 ½” screw off brass barrel. The barrel's smoothbore has just staining and residue consistent with age & use. The action is signed ‘W.Bond’ within engraved martial arms on one side and the reverse ‘Lombard Street London’ within martial arms. The underside of the action has crisp English proofs. It has a steel cock, frizzen pan, sliding safety catch feature and steel trigger guard. The pistol’s bag shaped wood grip is undamaged. The pistol cocks and dry fires crisply. 1785-1819, English Thomas Ketland Birmingham & London 54 Bore Flintlock Overcoat Pistol With Screw Off Cannon Barrel. Sn 21393:36 - 21393:36 Thomas Ketland & Co were English gunsmith's based at various addresses in Birmingham & London between 1785-1819. This is a nice Flintlock overcoat pistol by Thomas Ketland. It is 8" overall with a just under 2 ½” screw off cannon barrel which has proof / inspection marks. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age & use. The muzzle is slotted for turn key to assist barrel removal. The lock plate is engraved by the manufacturer 'T. Ketland'. It has a steel cock and brass trigger guard with extended tang. C1840 S. Wood Northampton Round Brass Action 50 Bore Percussion Muzzle Loading Pocket Pistol With Turn Off Barrel & Concealed Folding Trigger. Sn 21393:28 - 21393:28 This is a very good English percussion pocket pistol with round brass action made C 1840. The pistol is 6” overall with a 1 ½” turn off steel barrel (a tool is required to turn off the barrel, we do not have the tool). The barrel’s smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. It has a Dolphin hammer & concealed folding trigger. The concealed trigger drops down from the underside of the frame when the hammer is cocked. One side of the action amongst the foliate engraved panels is the maker’s name 'S.Wood’ and the reverse has ‘Northamton’ (retailer or maker: In our books, we cannot find a maker or retailer named S.Wood based in Northampton during the flintlock and percussion era). The underside of the action & barrel have crisp English proof marks. The excellent original bag shaped walnut grip is undamaged. The pistol is fully functioning with a crisp trigger action. **MINT RIFLED BORE**RARE**Norwegian Model 1834 / 1846 .650 Carbine Calibre Mounted Jaeger Mountain Cavalry Troops Convertible Percussion Pistol Carbine. Sn 21393:26 - 21393:26 This is an original Norwegian Model 1834 / 1846 Convertible Percussion Pistol Carbine With Swedish Carl Gustaf Mark (Removable Shoulder Stock Absent). These Convertible pistols were adopted by Mounted Jaeger Mountain Cavalry Troops. The pistol has a 9 ¾” round steel sighted barrel which is numbered ‘76’ (the number is repeated on the action tang and action plate). The pistol is 16 ¾” overall length. The bore is near mint, clean and bright with well defined deep cut rifling. It has a heavy military hammer and external safety catch which works as it should. The walnut full stock has typical brass mounts. The wood has knocks, bumps and bruises to be expected with age & service use. The action plate and barrel have Norwegian ‘Crown CB’ marks and the barrel has ‘CGH AP ‘ marks (unknown). The action plate also has number ‘533’. The pistol has a brass cudgel butt. The back of pistol grip has a recessed steel plate for shoulder stock. The price for this rare to find pistol as used by Jaeger Mounted Troops includes UK delivery.
