MAGNIFICENT, Cased Victorian Era Belgian Liege Large Frame Double Action 12 Shot 9mm, Military Pinfire, Revolver With Accessories. Sn 16210 - 16210
This is an excellent, Belgian 9mm, military, pinfire, 12 Shot Revolver. It is side gate loading with a 6” barrel, sturdy undamaged large frame and undamaged Walnut grips. The frame has a small ‘crown above s’ Liege inspection mark. The barrel’s rifled bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use The frame and fluted cylinder have crisp foliate engraving. The pistol is double action and cocks and dry fires perfectly in both single & double action. It has a blade fore sight and the side gate operates crisply. It is complete with its original military lanyard ring and captive steel clearing rod. The pistol is contained in its original Oak case with hinged lid. We have never seen one of these 12 shot pin fire pistols with case. The case is ornately inlaid with mother of pearl. The lid of the case has some old stable cracks which are secure. The case has a brass lock with key. The case is lined with maroon felt and has compartments which contain accessories including a brass cleaning rod with screw on attachment and ebony handle, a small empty glass oil jar with lid which has an integral applicator & and an ebony handled steel tool. The inside of the padded lid has wording highlighted in gold ‘Verney Jne A Lyon’ most likely a French retailer. The price for this cased pistol with original accessories includes UK delivery. Large, Austrian, Victorian Era, Polished, Flattened Horn Black Powder Flask With Beetz Charger Brass Swivel Head, Inspection Window & Adjustable Measure. A 1005 - A 1005
This is an excellent original complete Austrian , Victorian, Brass Swivel Head Black Powder Flask. It measures 10" overall length and the polished, flattened horn flask is 2 ½” at it's widest point. The horn is un-damaged and has a brass end cap. The horn is fitted with 4 small brass rings and has its original screw thread, brass swivel head ‘Beetz Charger’ nozzle with graduated measures. The nozzle has glazed inspection windows on the left and right sides (see page 424 and image 1411 of The Powder flask Book by Riling). 1838 2nd Scinde Irregular Horse Enfield .700 Calibre Percussion Cavalry Carbine, .14th Prince of Wales's Own. rare Unit. Sn 15941 - 15941
The Scinde Irregular Horse was raised at Hyderabad on 8 August 1838. It was named after the province of Sind now in Pakistan, where it was raised to protect the trade route from the Bolan Pass to Sukkur on the Indus River and fight against the marauding Baluchi warriors. It later expanded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Scinde Horse. These three regiments were absorbed into the regular forces after the Mutiny of 1857 and became the 35th Scinde Horse and the 36th Jacob's Horse. They saw active service in Northern and Central India, Persia, Afghanistan on the North West Frontier and, during World War I, where they served in France and Palestine. The two regiments were amalgamated in 1922, as the present 14th Prince of Wales's Own Scinde Horse which served in World War II. This is an original Enfield Pattern private purchase cavalry carbine marked to the 2nd Scinde Irregular Horse. Its original wood full stock is undamaged and metal work has even patina. It has a heavy military percussion hammer and the action plate is marked ‘2nd Scinde Irregular Horse’. Its 21" barrel (37” overall) has a smooth bore which has just light staining consistent with age. The top of the barrel is stamped with Victorian proof/inspection marks and with an indistinct ‘London’ maker or retailer mark. It has a fixed rear sight and blade fore sight. It has an under barrel captive swivel steel ramrod. The carbine also has brass fore end block, trigger guard & butt plate. It is complete with sling swivels. It cocks & dry fires perfectly. This is a good British Frith Patent Brass Leather Bandolier Mounted Shot Carrier For Flintlock / Percussion Shotgunners made sometime in the late 1700’s / early 1800s. The brass shot carrier is 4 ¾” overall length. It has a removable cylindrical shot shovel released by depression of a flat steel catch on its cap. The body of the shot carrier is marked ‘P.Frith Patent’. The carrier has its original purpose made leather bandolier with 2 ¼” wide padded leather shoulder strap which is 50” overall length. **UNAVAILABLE**17/1/24**1897 - 1900 Dutch Wilhelm Von Kreyfelt Rotterdam Holland Martini Action 10.4 x 38R Swiss Vetterli Obsolete Calibre Sporting / Target Rifle With Octagonal Barrel. Sn 14619 - 14619
Wilhelm Von Kreyfelt was a Dutch gunmaker active around 1870 until 1900. Little is known about Von Kreyfelt other than he made or modified this Martini action sporting / target rifle which is in10.4 x 38R Swiss Veterli, an obsolete calibre. It has a rotating bolt feature which allows the use of both rim fire and centre fire rounds in that calibre. The right side of the action is signed ‘WILH. VON KREYFELT, ROTTERDAM’. It has a double scroll trigger guard/cocking lever, walnut half stock, the right side of the butt inset with an oval brass panel engraved "J.VAN SILLEVOLUT, ROTTERDAM", the left side with raised cheek piece. It has a curved steel butt plate, two sling swivels and brass ramrod. It has an 86cm octagonal blued steel barrel with bow type rear sight and block and blade fore sight. The left side of the barrel is numbered 852. The barrel’s bore is clean with crisp rifling. The rifle measures 129cm overall length. Its loading and firing actions work as they should. This is a large Victorian era percussion sporting gun for ball. It is 20 bore and has a 33" stepped round to octagonal brown barrel (49” overall). Its bore has just light staining to be expected with age and use. It has all original undamaged Walnut stock with chequered wrist & steel butt plate. The trigger guard has an extended tang with acanthus bud finial. The action and Dolphin hammer have engraved scrollwork decoration. The barrel has a small blade foresight and it has a ‘v’ notch block rear sight. The stock has a polished horn fore end block. The weapon has its original brass ram rod. There are no visible external manufacturer or proof marks on this weapon. The gun’s firing action works perfectly. The price for this large Victorian piece includes UK delivery.
