C1840 British Yeomanry 15 Bore Muzzle Loading Percussion Holster Pistol With Steel Ram Rod. Sn 20049 - 20049 This is a British Yeomanry holster pistol made C1840. It has all original full wood stock with brass fittings including cudgel butt. It’s steel ram rod is tightly held under the stock within the brass ramrod flutes (to avoid damage we have not attempted to remove it). The pistol measures 13 ½” overall with a 7” browned steel barrel. The barrel has proofs (illustrated). The smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age & use. The pistol is un-sighted. The cocking and firing mechanisms are crisp. There are no visible maker or date marks on the pistol. The price includes UK delivery. C1830 English, Bradney Sheffield, 40 Bore Round Action Percussion Pocket Pistol With Screw Off Barrel & Concealed Trigger. Sn 18732. - Sn 18732 This is an excellent percussion pocket pistol by Bradney of Sheffield made C1830 (although we cannot find a reference to a Sheffield based gunsmith named Bradney, in 1822 a John Bradney of 4 Solly Street, Sheffield is recorded as a metal japanner in the ‘Transcript of the entry of professions and trades for Sheffield’ in Baines's Directory and Gazetteer Directory, this may be the same person who expanded his metal working business into gun making). The pistol is 6” overall with a 1 ½” screw off smoothbore barrel. The bore has staining and residue consistent with age & use (the removal of the turn off barrel requires use of a tool which we do not have). The left side of the round steel action is engraved 'Bradney' within foliate panel. The right ’Sheffield’ within foliate panel. It has a sliding safety, folding concealed trigger and Dolphin hammer. The action works perfectly. It has crisp proof /inspection marks on the underside of the frame & barrel. Its bag shaped walnut grip has fine chequering and is inlaid with a void silver roundel. C1840 Flintlock Pocket Pistol By L.R. Evans Of London. Sn 6210. - Sn 6210 This is a very nice quality, early Victorian Flintlock Pocket Pistol made c1840 by L.R. Evans of London. It is 6 ¾ “ overall with a .42" bore, screw off 2 ¼ “barrel. It has a one piece slab grip of dark wood and clear Victorian black powder proof marks under the breech. The action is engraved on both sides with flags and the makers' mark 'L.R. Evans'. The lock works as it should. C1865 Baker, London Yeomanry Officer’s Private Purchase Enfield 1856 Pattern 2 Band .577 Calibre Muzzle Loading Percussion Rifle Sn - 20033 Ezekiel Baker & Son London Gun Makers to the King (Apprentice of Henry Nock & Inventor of the British Army Baker Rifle) which was adopted by the British government in 1800. The Baker company manufactured guns of quality. This is an original British Yeomanry Officer’s private purchase Enfield 1856 Pattern muzzle loading percussion rifle by Baker, London. The gun has all original walnut wood work in excellent condition with a, steel butt plate, fore end block and trigger guard with extended tang. The wood is numbered ‘106’. The rifle has its original steel ramrod, bayonet bar with a short forward extension, 1100 yard ladder rear sight, block & blade fore sight. The barrel’s 33 barrel is stamped with proof marks and the rifle measures 48 ½ inches ln length. Its rifled barrel is clean and bright. The cocking & firing actions work crisply. C1865 British Richard Jackson Edgware Road London Yeomanry Officer’s Private Purchase Enfield Pattern 2 Band .577 Calibre Muzzle Loading Percussion Rifle With Nipple Protector & Chain. Sn 19997:7 - 19997:7 Richard Jackson son of another London gunmaker by the same name worked at Edgware Road London both on his own and with his brother Elias Jackson between 1847 & 1894 (see page 173 of British Gunmakers Vol.1 by Brown). This is an original British Yeomanry Officer’s private purchase Enfield Pattern muzzle loading percussion rifle by Richard Jackson. It has all original walnut wood work in excellent condition with chequered panels at the wrist and fore stock, steel butt plate, fore end block and trigger guard with extended tang. The wood is numbered ‘106’. The rifle has its original steel ramrod, bayonet bar, ladder rear sight, block & blade fore sight, sling swivels & nipple protector with brass chain. The barrel’s 31 ½” barrel is stamped with proof marks. Its bore is clean with crisp rifling. The cocking & firing actions work crisply. The action plate is signed ‘R. Jackson’ and the barrel ‘R. 1840 – 1842 English .60” Bore Percussion Pistol (Converted From Flintlock) By John Crosby Brown, Hull, Yorkshire With Octagonal Barrel. A 598. - A 598 John Crosby Brown was an English Gunmaker who is recorded as having premises at 20 Mytongate Hull Yorkshire for a short period of time between . 1840 & 1842. Prior to 1840 Brown is recorded at the same address operating as Humphreys & Brown between 1833 & 1837 (see pages 181 and 256 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown). This is an excellent percussion pistol (Converted from Flintlock) By Brown. It is 14" overall with a 9" octagonal steel barrel which is .60" bore. The barrel has a small brass blade fore sight and 2 silver bands at the breech. The smoothbore has some staining consistent with age. The side plate has scroll engraving & dolphin hammer. The side plate is marked ‘Brown Hull’'. It has a walnut stock with chequered grip. Its steel trigger guard with extended tang and acanthus bud finial have light foliate engraving. It is complete with its wood ramrod with polished horn end cap. Its action works as it should. The metal and wood of the pistol have no damage. The price includes UK delivery. English Late 18th / Early 19th Century ‘Segary’ 16 Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol. Sn 14657. - 14657 This is a very good English form flintlock holster pistol made sometime in the late 18th / early 19th Century. It has a 9” round steel barrel. The barrel is 16.71mm muzzle diameter (approx. 16 bore). The smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The barrel has crown V and crown P proofs (illustrated). It has a swan neck hammer, and brass furniture including butt plate, trigger guard with extended tang and ram rod mount. The lock plate is signed ‘Segray’. The walnut stock full stock is undamaged. 1823-1840 American 50 Bore, Brass Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Turn Off Barrel & English Birmingham Black Powder Proofs. Sn 19769 - 19769 According to "Historic Pistols" by Samuel E. Smith and Edwin W. Bitter, pages 304 and 305, John P. Moore operated a gun shop in New York City America between 1823 and 1840. This is a brass Flintlock pocket pistol by J.P Moore. It is 6 ¾” overall with a 2" turn off brass barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The brass frame is engraved on both sides with martial banners & arms. Within the panels are the maker’s name ‘J.P Moore’ on one side and ‘New York’ on the reverse. Interestingly the underside of the action has English Birmingham black powder proofs (internet research reveals that other forms of pistol of that period, including military form martial pieces by Moore of New York carry British proofs). It has a steel hammer, steel trigger & trigger guard. The pistol has an undamaged bag shaped slab walnut grip. The pistol cocks and dry fires crisply. **QUALITY**Mid 1800's English Brinsley Nantwich (Cheshire) & Whitchurch (Shropshire) Patent 15 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Sporting Shotgun. Sn 19752 - 19752 This is a quality made Victorian era 15 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Sporting Shotgun. It has a 30” 2 stage barrel with bead fore sight and measures 47 ½”overall. The barrel's smooth bore is clean. The top of the barrel is signed ‘ Brinsley Nantwich & Whitchurch Patent’. The hammer, trigger guard with extended tang and butt plate tang are nicely engraved with foliate decoration. The action is signed by the maker ‘Brinsley’ (The only British gunmaker we can find named Brinsley is Joseph Brinsley C1846 recorded at Dixon’s yard. Pier Isle Of Man see page 179 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown) along with a hunting scene of game bird and hunting dog in the field. The wrist of the stock has fine chequering. The top of the wrist is inlaid with void escutcheon. The all original woodwork is excellent. The gun has a wood ram rod with brass end cap. The gun’s cocking and firing action works crisply.
