Sn 20694 - 20694 C1870 English Black Powder Obsolete Calibre Single Barrel Rotary Underlever Break Action Wildfowling Shotgun. It is 10 bore and has a 39” 2 stage browned steel barrel. Its smooth bore is clean. It has an attractive walnut stock with chequered grip panels and polished horn fore end cap. The underside of the wrist is inlaid with void brass disc. The action plate and barrel are signed by the maker or retailer ‘W P & W Skelton Warrington (Cheshire)’. The inside of the action block has black powder proofs. It has a steel butt plate & heavy steel hammer. The barrel has a small bead foresight. Its rotary underlever break action, cocking & firing actions work crisply. Victorian British Hollis & Sheath Birmingham Makers To Her Majesty’s War Department Enfield Volunteer’s Private Purchase, 2 Band .577 Calibre Muzzle Loading Percussion 2 Band Rifle With 3 Groove Rifling. Sn 20647 - 20647 Hollis & Sheath were English, Birmingham based Gunmakers with premises at Weaman Row & 49 Whittall Street between 1849 to 1861 when the Business succeeded to Isaac Hollis & Sons (see page 251 of British Gunmakers Vol.2 by Brown). Hollis & Sheath also made military weapons for the British Board Of Ordnance. This is an excellent, original British Volunteer’s private purchase 2-band Percussion Rifle in .577" calibre. The action plate is faintly signed signed ‘Hollis & Sheath Makers To Her Majesty’s War Department’. It has all original walnut stock with steel butt plate, steel fore end block, bayonet bar & trigger guard with extended tang. The rifle also has its original steel ramrod, block with blade fore sight none standard graduated ladder rear sight with copper aiming ladder band (illustrated in image 3).The barrel’s bore has just light staining & residue consistent with age and use & its 3 band rifling is well defined. The metal work has even aged patina. Total length is 49” with a 33" barrel. The cocking & firing action works crisply. The price includes UK delivery. **RARE**MINT BORE**C1900 British Military A&N CSLtd London (Army & Navy Co-operative Stores Ltd) Martini Action .297/230 Obsolete Calibre ‘The British Cadet Rifle’ With ‘Take Down’ Action. Sn 19081. - 19081 This is an excellent Martini Action .297/230 Obsolete Calibre Cadet Rifle. Many of these rifles were sent to Australia for their military training. It is rare to find British examples without Australian marks. Our rare example without Australian Government marks is complete with sling Swivels, cleaning rod, block & blade foresight, adjustable graduated 50-100-200 yards ladder rear sight and steel butt plate. The steel barrel's bore is near mint clean & bright with typical light rifling and it has a crisp martini action which works crisply. It has all original wood furniture and metal work. The barrel is marked ‘The British Cadet Rifle’ & has calibre detail. The action is crisply stamped ‘A&N CSLtd London (Army & Navy Co-operative Stores Ltd)’ (Army & Navy Stores was a department store group in the United Kingdom, which originated as a co-operative society for military officers and their families during the nineteenth century. *MINT BORE**C1850 British Enfield Tower Liege Belgium Contract .650 Carbine Calibre British Sea Service Customs / Revenue Type Muzzle Loading Percussion Pistol With Brass Fittings, Captive Steel Ram Rod & Belt Bar. A 586 - A 586 Due to heavy production demands for Sea service pistols the British Admiralty turned to their Belgian allies to produce Sea Service pattern pistols to supplement British made supplies. Liege pistols, although not the fine quality of the British version, were robust, heavy and well made resulting in other nations Governments also contracting Liege pistols for their armed forces. This is an original Victorian, Liege contract Tower Sea Service Customs / Revenue type percussion pistol. It is 12” overall length with 6” blued steel barrel in .650 Carbine Calibre. The barrel’s smooth bore is near mint clean and bright. The barrel is un-sighted. The Walnut full stock is a nice deep brown with regulation pattern brass furniture & has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. It has its original captive steel ram rod & steel lanyard ring to the brass butt which is numbered ‘744’. The action plate is marked ‘Tower’ & with Crown VR (Victoria Regina). Sn 20512:5 - 20512:5 This is an antique muzzle loading 12 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Sporting Shotgun in Spanish form. It has a 28 ½” two stage browned steel un-sighted barrel and measures a short 44 ½” overall making it ideal for ladies or youth use. The barrel has German silver bands and roundel insert at the breech. The barrel's smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age and use. The action tang, hammer and action plate have engraved with foliate decoration. The trigger guard has extended tang with Pineapple finial. The wrist of the stock has chequered panels. The top of the wrist is inlaid with void German silver escutcheon and it has a German silver fore end block. Sn 20462 - 20462 This is an excellent, original, quality made Portable Magazine For .423 Mauser Calibre ammunition as used by the Reichsbund Deutsche Jägerschaft (German Hunting Society, which was the official hunting society in Nazi Germany, 1934–1945. Membership was mandatory for all who possessed a hunting licence). The leather covered metal hard case, measures 7” x 4” x 1 ½”. The top and bottom of the magazine has hinged lids with white metal clasp fasteners. Each section has white metal open tubular top plates to accommodate individual rounds . Each section is designed to hold 24 rounds of .423 Mauser Calibre Rifle Ammunition (48 total). One side of the magazine has a small sliding draw for patches. The leather on the front of the magazine is impressed with crossed rifles and Oak leaves wreaths and has manufacturer detail ‘Akah’ (the trademark of Albrecht Kind GmbH which was founded on 24 September 1853 by Mr Albrecht Kind in Hunstig, a small village situated approx. 50 km to the east of Cologne). This is an excellent Officer’s private purchase, percussion pistol by George Henry Daw made at 57 Threadneedle Street London. It is 12” overall with a 6” heavy steel barrel. The barrel has a ‘v’ notch block rear sight. The top of the barrel is signed ‘George H Daw 57 Threadneedle Street London’ and has proofs. Sn 20474 - 20474 An original French Model 1822 Tulle Arsenal Cavalry pistol converted from flintlock to percussion with a rifled barrel. Many of these pistols were carried by Confederate troops in the American Civil war supplied by their French allies. This pistol has a Walnut Stock with regulation brass fittings. The wood has impressed roundels and numbers (illustrated). The brass has several inspection marks. The wood is all original with just bumps and bruises to be expected. The lock plate is stamped with ‘Tulle Arsenal’ detail. The 8” 2 stage barrel is date stamped with "1862 date" and "M.R." on the right hand side and "C de 17. 7N ES M" on the left hand side. It also has Model 1822 model designation behind the rear sight. The pistol’s rifled bore is near mint, clean & bright with crisp rifling. The pistol retains the original iron ramrod / powder measure. It has all original Walnut woodwork throughout. It has a fine case hardened lock nicely engraved by the retailer ' Thomas Turner Fisher Street Birmingham'. The breech is marked with proof / inspection marks. It has a brass butt plate, trigger guard & fore end block. C1820 English Hill London 50 Bore Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Turn Off Barrel. Sn 20369 - 20369 This an excellent English Flintlock pocket pistol. It is 6 ½” overall with a 1 ¾” screw off barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore is clean. The underside of the action has crisp Birmingham proof marks. Its steel action is decorated with Martial banners on the right side and with the manufacturer's name 'Hill' on one side and ‘London’ with Martial banners on the reverse (most likely one of 2 gunmakers, either, John Hill who worked as a gun barrel filer at Royal Enfield 1808-1817 then as a gunmaker at 40 St Catherine Street, Tower Hill 1817-1820. He is then recorded at 168 Tooley Street, Borough 1823-1831 and 76 Tooley Street 1832-1856. He is finally recorded at Essex Street & New Road Whitechapel 1836-1856, the second man William Hill was a gunsmith recorded at Plough Street, Whitechapel 1818-1824, see page 169 of British Gunmakers Vol 1 by Brown). It has an undamaged original bag shaped wood grip. The back of the grip has an inlaid void white metal escutcheon. The cock is fitted with a flint. The weapon cocks and dry fires crisply.
