Victorian 1886 Dated MK IV Enfield Martini Henry .577x .450 Long Lever British Service Rifle With British WD & India Arsenal Marks. Sn 19472 - 19472 This is an original MK IV. 1886 dated .577x .450 Martini Henry, long lever Service Rifle. It has its original woodwork throughout. The wood has Enfield roundel and other ink marks (illustrated). The metal work has British WD and India arsenal marks and ‘N.E.P’ , N.S’ Nepalese Native Service stamps (illustrated). It has a block & blade fore sight, flip up ladder rear sight, steel butt plate, sling swivels, cleaning rod & bayonet lug. The 33” steel barrel’s bore has staining consistent with age & sharp, well defined multi groove rifling. The metal work has even patina. The action works crisply. The action is stamped on the right side Crown VR (Victoria Regina) Enfield, ‘Mark IV I’ model designation and dated '1886' together with WD arrow. Victorian C1850 English Westley Richards, 16 Bore, Double Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Shotgun. Sn 19512 - 19512 The renowned English Gunsmiths Westley Richards & Co have been making unique and best quality shotguns and rifles for over 200 years. This is a Victorian era 16 Bore double barrel shotgun made by Westley Richards in good condition. It has Walnut furniture with finely chequered wrist and fore stock. The wood has knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age and use. The stock has an inlaid void silver escutcheon. The shotgun with double 27 ¼”, steel barrels, has double hammers & triggers. It measures 44 ¼” overall. The barrel rib has a bead fore sight. The action plates, action tang and trigger guard with extended tang have foliate engraved decoration. The action has an inlaid silver band and silver roundels are inlaid at the breech of each barrel. Both action plates are signed ‘Westley Richards’. The cocking & firing actions of the weapon work crisply. The barrels smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. 1888 Dated MK II Enfield Martini Henry .577x .450 British Service Rifle With Later South African WD Marks & Leather Sling By Edward Day Canada. Sn 19470 - 19470 This is an excellent original MK II .577x .450 Martini Henry, British Service Rifle with later South African WD marks. It is fully British ordnance stamped and has its original woodwork throughout. The wood has an ink Enfield rifle and struck out dates. It has block and blade fore sight, flip up ladder rear sight, steel butt plate, sling swivels fitted with leather sling which is impressed ‘Edward Day Made In Canada’, cleaning rod & bayonet lug. The steel barrel's bore is clean & has crisp rifling. The metal work retains its original blue finish. The action works crisply. The action is stamped on the right side Crown VR (Victoria Regina) Enfield, Mark II model designation and dated '1888'. The barrel has several Victorian and British WD proof inspection marks and ‘C Broad Arrow G’ South African Government marks indicating reissue to South African Forces after British service. C1850, Victorian George Wallis Junior Of Hull Double Barrelled 15 Bore Muzzle Loading Percussion Shotgun. Sn 19505 - 19505 George Wallis Junior of Hull was the son of the master flintlock gunmaker of the same name, a distinguished gunmaker and antiquary who assisted William Constable of Burton Constable Hall with the maintenance of his magnificent collection. This is a very good Victorian double barrel muzzle loading percussion shotgun made Circa 1850 by George Wallis Junior of Hull. It has all original Walnut furniture with chequered panels at the wrist. The wood has knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age. The top of the wrist has a void silver escutcheon & It has a steel butt plate. The shotgun with double 27 ¼”, brown wash steel barrels, has double hammers & triggers. It measures 44 ¼” overall. The action has silver roundels and the barrel has 2 silver bands inlaid. The barrel rib has a bead fore sight. The action, hammers and trigger guard with extended tang have foliate engraved decoration. The action plates are signed ‘Wallis Hull’. The cocking & firing actions of the weapon work crisply. The barrels smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age and use. **RARE**C1802 Scottish William Morris Perth 16 Bore, Side By Side Double Barrelled Muzzle Loading Flintlock Shotgun. A 1102 - A 1102 William Morris was a Scottish gunmaker recorded as working in Perth in 1802 (see page 291 of British Gunmakers Vol.2 by Brown). This is a double barrel flintlock shotgun by William Morris of Perth. It has Walnut furniture with finely chequered wrist and fore stock. The action, steel butt plate tang and trigger guard with extended tang and pineapple finial have foliate engraved decoration. The shotgun has double 28 ¼”, 16 bore steel barrels with flat barrel rib. The smooth bores have light staining and residue consistent with age and use. It has double Swan neck hammers & double triggers (the right hammer is loosely fitted but functions as it should). The lock plates and barrel rib are signed by the maker (illustrated). It is complete with brass capped wood ram rod which has a worm tip. The cocking & firing actions of the weapon work crisply. 1859 British Volunteer Officer’s Private Purchase Enfield Tower Pattern 1856 .577 Calibre Muzzle Loading Line Regiment Sergeant’s & Rifle Brigade 2 Band Percussion Short Rifle. Sn 19291 - 19291 The Pattern 1856 was the first short rifle in the new .577 calibre family of muskets made by Enfield for the British Army. The Pattern 1856 was issued to all Sergeants of Line Regiments & the Rifle Brigade. This is an excellent volunteer officer’s private purchase Enfield Pattern 1856 short rifle. The action is dated 1859 & is marked ‘Tower’ (Enfield) together with Victorian Queen’s Crown. It has all original woodwork with steel butt plate, sling swivels, trigger guard, bayonet lug, fore end cap together with ramrod. The wood has chequered panels at the fore stock and wrist indicating this is a private purchase weapon. The wood has knocks bumps and bruises consistent with age and service use. C1840 Durs Egg London 18 Bore Percussion Traveling Pistol With Octagonal Steel Barrel, Walnut Full Stock & Captive Steel Ram Rod. Sn 19213 - 19213 Durs Egg (1748–1831) was a Swiss-born British gunmaker, noted for his quality pistols and for his company's production of the Ferguson rifle. Egg was apprenticed in Solothurn and Paris before establishing his own business in London in 1772. He was a contemporary of Joseph Manton, Jean Samuel Pauly and the uncle of Joseph Egg. When the famous gunsmith Durs Egg died in 1831 his Son John Egg took over the business operating at Haymarket London. In 1839 The business name reverted to Durs Egg at 4 Pall Mall London until 1854 then at 4 Colonnade Pall Mall from 1855 to 1865. This is a quality percussion traveling pistol by Durs Egg. The pistol has quality hand tooled decoration on the action plate, hammer, trigger guard with pineapple finial and action tang. The pistol measures 11" overall & has a 6” octagonal steel barrel with brass bead fore sight. The top barrel flat is signed ‘D.Egg London’. The smooth bore is clean. The original walnut full stock has chequered panels at the grip. The top of the stock is inlaid with void German Silver escutcheon. The pistol has a captive steel ram rod. Victorian ‘East India Company’ Combination Tool for Percussion Rifles and Muskets. A 1096. - A 1096 A rare percussion era combination tool for the Enfield rifle used by the East India Company. The East India Company (EIC) was English, and later British, joint-stock company founded in 1600. It was formed to trade in the Indian Ocean region, initially with the East Indies (the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia), and later with Qing China. The company seized control of large parts of the Indian subcontinent, colonised parts of Southeast Asia and Hong Kong after the First Opium War, and maintained trading posts and colonies in the Persian Gulf Residencies This tool incorporates a nipple pick and nipple wrench, two screwdrivers, one of which is “scooped” so that it may be used on the typical East India Company pattern ‘bun nut’. 1849 British WD Enfield Tower.702 Calibre Muzzle Loading, Percussion Rifled Carbine Stock Impressed ‘Barnett Gunmakers London’. Sn 19164 - 19164 The London based Barnett family of Gunsmiths are recorded at various addresses in London from 1796 to 1908 starting with Thomas Barnett at 134 Minories who later became Thomas Barnett & Sons and later John Edward Barnett at the Minories & 37 Camomile Street, ending as JE Barnett & Sons Ltd at Brewhouse Lane, Leaman Street & Duncan Street (see page 140 of Brown’s book British Gunmakers Vol.1). This is an original British 1849 Enfield Tower made Carbine with stock marked by Barnett. It has excellent all original wood stock and original finish to the metal work. The wood is crisply impressed with ‘WD & Broad Arrow’ and most likely the stock maker’s cartouche ‘Barnett Gunmakers London’. It has a heavy military percussion hammer and the action plate is crisply stamped ‘Crown VR (Victoria Regina) & ‘Tower’ (Enfield) ‘1849’. Its 24" barrel (40” overall) is rifled and has just light staining consistent with age and use. The barrel has proofs. It has a ‘v’ notch block rear sight and block & blade fore sight. It has iron ramrod and sling swivels. The carbine also has brass fore end block, trigger guard, ram rod flutes & butt plate. The carbine cocks & dry fires crisply. The price includes UK delivery.
