**EXTREMELY RARE** C1873 Russo-Turkish War American Peabody Martini Action Turkish Government Contract 11.3x59R (.45 Turkish) Obsolete Centre Fire Calibre Service Rifle. Sn 20023 - 20023 The Peabody & Peabody Martini variations were the development of Henry O. Peabody of Boston, Massachusetts. Commencing in 1873 the Turkish Government bought from the United States 600,000 Peabody Martini action Rifles and bayonets manufactured by the Providence Tool Company & the weapons saw service in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78. On instruction from the Turkish Government who wanted the finest weapons to arm Ottoman Empire Forces, the weapons were identical to the Martini Henry action service rifles, apart from features such as Calibre size, butt plate design, sling swivel sizes and markings/ inspection marks. This is one of the Peabody Martini rifles purchased by the Turkish Government. The rifle in 11.3x59R calibre known in the USA as .45 Turkish calibre measures 49” overall with a 33” rifled barrel. The bore has light staining consistent with age and service use & crisp rifling. The rifle is fitted with sling swivels, block and blade fore sight, graduated ladder rear sight & correct chequered steel butt plate. The metalwork and woodwork are all original. The wood has light bumps and bruises to be expected with age and service use. The weapon retains its original cleaning rod. The right side of the action has serial number in Turkish script and Crest, the left side of the action is crisply marked with the ‘Peabody Martini Patent’ & USA address (all illustrated). 1840 – 1842 English .60” Bore Percussion Pistol (Converted From Flintlock) By John Crosby Brown, Hull, Yorkshire With Octagonal Barrel. A 598. - A 598 John Crosby Brown was an English Gunmaker who is recorded as having premises at 20 Mytongate Hull Yorkshire for a short period of time between . 1840 & 1842. Prior to 1840 Brown is recorded at the same address operating as Humphreys & Brown between 1833 & 1837 (see pages 181 and 256 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown). This is an excellent percussion pistol (Converted from Flintlock) By Brown. It is 14" overall with a 9" octagonal steel barrel which is .60" bore. The barrel has a small brass blade fore sight and 2 silver bands at the breech. The smoothbore has some staining consistent with age. The side plate has scroll engraving & dolphin hammer. The side plate is marked ‘Brown Hull’'. It has a walnut stock with chequered grip. Its steel trigger guard with extended tang and acanthus bud finial have light foliate engraving. It is complete with its wood ramrod with polished horn end cap. Its action works as it should. The metal and wood of the pistol have no damage. The price includes UK delivery. English Late 18th / Early 19th Century ‘Segary’ 16 Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol. Sn 14657. - 14657 This is a very good English form flintlock holster pistol made sometime in the late 18th / early 19th Century. It has a 9” round steel barrel. The barrel is 16.71mm muzzle diameter (approx. 16 bore). The smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The barrel has crown V and crown P proofs (illustrated). It has a swan neck hammer, and brass furniture including butt plate, trigger guard with extended tang and ram rod mount. The lock plate is signed ‘Segray’. The walnut stock full stock is undamaged. **QUALITY** American Civil War Era Double Barrelled .44” Patched Ball Calibre Muzzle Loading Kentucky Plains Rifle By Nelson Delany Pennsylvania With Fine Cast Steel Barrels & German Silver Fittings. Sn 12466 - 12466 Nelson Delany was an American gunmaker of Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He is recorded as working at Wyomissing Creek C1845 and active until C1872. This is a fine double barrelled .44 patched ball Kentucky Plains rifle made in the American Civil War era by Delany. It has a beautiful Walnut stock with figured cheek piece, German Silver fittings including a patch box with hinged lid, curved butt plate, trigger guard with extended tang and stock mounts. Its 31” barrels set side by side with flat top rib have clean bores with crisp micro rifling. The rifle measures 48" overall. The The top rib is engraved ‘Fine Cast Steel’. Both side plates are crisply marked by the American manufacturer ‘N. Delany’. The rifle has an ebonised ramrod with brass end cap, sling swivels, German Silver blade fore sight and adjustable rear sight. It has double triggers and heavy dolphin hammers. UNAVAILABLE UNAVAILABLE C1860's American Merwin & Bray Firearms Co New York 5 Shot Brass Framed .30 Rim Fire Obsolete Calibre Single Action Revolver Converted From Cup Primed Teat Fire With Octagonal Barrel. Sn 19816 - 19816 An original cup primed Teat fire revolver by Merwin & Bray Firearms Co New York period converted to rim fire . It has a 3 ½” octagonal barrel with top rib which is marked “Merwin & Bray Firearms Co NY”. “Merwin & Bray New York” is repeated on another barrel flat. It has an undamaged brass frame stamped “1427” which is repeated on the underside of the barrel. The barrel’s bore has just light staining and crisp rifling. The front sight is a half round German silver blade. It has a grooved frame rear sight. Originally as a teat fire revolver it would have had a captive ejector rod mounted on the side of the frame to eject the front loaded teat fire cartridges, the ejector rod has been removed as part of the conversion to rim fire and the cylinder which would have been sealed at the breech end, replaced with open cylinders for rim fire cartridges. The grips are smooth varnished rosewood which have just the bumps and bruises to be expected with age. The barrel, removable cylinder and hammer retain some of their original blue finish. 1823-1840 American 50 Bore, Brass Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Turn Off Barrel & English Birmingham Black Powder Proofs. Sn 19769 - 19769 According to "Historic Pistols" by Samuel E. Smith and Edwin W. Bitter, pages 304 and 305, John P. Moore operated a gun shop in New York City America between 1823 and 1840. This is a brass Flintlock pocket pistol by J.P Moore. It is 6 ¾” overall with a 2" turn off brass barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The brass frame is engraved on both sides with martial banners & arms. Within the panels are the maker’s name ‘J.P Moore’ on one side and ‘New York’ on the reverse. Interestingly the underside of the action has English Birmingham black powder proofs (internet research reveals that other forms of pistol of that period, including military form martial pieces by Moore of New York carry British proofs). It has a steel hammer, steel trigger & trigger guard. The pistol has an undamaged bag shaped slab walnut grip. The pistol cocks and dry fires crisply. British, Victorian, C.1880, P.Webley & Son, Volunteers Purchase MK II Martini Henry .577x .450 Short Lever Rifle. Sn - 19679 The Webley company was founded in the late 18th century by William Davies, who made bullet moulds. It was taken over in 1834 by his son-in-law, Philip Webley, who began producing percussion sporting guns. The manufacture of revolvers, for which the firm became famous, began twenty years later. At that time the company was named P. Webley & Son. In 1897, Webley amalgamated with W & C Scott and Sons to become The Webley & Scott Revolver and Arms Company Ltd of Birmingham This is an excellent, original .577x .450 Martini Henry Mk II, British Volunteers private purchase short lever rifle made by P Webley & Son, Birmingham. The gun has its original woodwork throughout which has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. The gun has a block & blade fore sight, flip up ladder rear sight, steel butt plate, sling swivels, cleaning rod & bayonet lug. The 33” steel barrel’s bore is clean and bright, with sharp rifling and well defined. The barrel has British proof marks. The metal work has even patina and has numbers (illustrated) and the action works crisply. The top of the barrel is signed by the maker ‘P Webley and Son, Birmingham’. The top of the barrel and side of the breach has the W&S winged bullet stamped into it. The stock is stamped with the LONDON roundel stock with II stamped under it together with various other stamps. The action and barrel have the serial number C164 stamped on it together with other various numbers. The butt is fitted with a sling swivel. The price includes UK delivery. **QUALITY**Mid 1800's English Brinsley Nantwich (Cheshire) & Whitchurch (Shropshire) Patent 15 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Sporting Shotgun. Sn 19752 - 19752 This is a quality made Victorian era 15 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Sporting Shotgun. It has a 30” 2 stage barrel with bead fore sight and measures 47 ½”overall. The barrel's smooth bore is clean. The top of the barrel is signed ‘ Brinsley Nantwich & Whitchurch Patent’. The hammer, trigger guard with extended tang and butt plate tang are nicely engraved with foliate decoration. The action is signed by the maker ‘Brinsley’ (The only British gunmaker we can find named Brinsley is Joseph Brinsley C1846 recorded at Dixon’s yard. Pier Isle Of Man see page 179 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown) along with a hunting scene of game bird and hunting dog in the field. The wrist of the stock has fine chequering. The top of the wrist is inlaid with void escutcheon. The all original woodwork is excellent. The gun has a wood ram rod with brass end cap. The gun’s cocking and firing action works crisply. C1840 English 50 Bore Percussion Pocket Pistol With Turn Off Barrel. Sn 19687 - 19687 This a good English percussion pocket pistol made C1840. It is 6 ½”overall with a 2 ¼” screw off barrel (a tool is required to turn off the barrel, we do not have the tool). The barrel’s smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age and use. The action and barrel have crisp English proofs. Its action is decorated on both sides with foliate panels. There is no visible makers name. It has its original bag shaped wood grip. The back of the grip is inlaid with void white metal escutcheon. The trigger guard is decorated with a stylised star motif. The weapon cocks and dry fires crisply. The price includes UK delivery.
