1854-1869 English Irwin Wallas Of Wigton & Carlisle (Cumberland) Double Barrelled 12 Bore Muzzle Loading Percussion Shotgun. Sn 21010 - 21010 Wallas were a large family of Wigton & Carlisle Cumberland based gunmakers working from 1827 through to C1913. Irwin Wallas is recorded at Ludgate Lane Wigton between 1854 and 1869 (see page 357 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown). This is a very good double barrel shotgun made by Irwin Wallas. It has all original Walnut furniture. The shotgun with double 30”, brown wash steel barrels, has double hammers & triggers. It measures 46” overall. The barrel has a small brass bead fore sight and the barrel rib is faintly signed ‘Wallas Wigton & Carlisle’. The cocking and firing actions are crisp. Both action plates are signed ‘I. Wallas’ within foliate decorations. The barrel’s smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. The shotgun has its original wood ram rod with brass end cap and tip. **ORNATELY ENGRAVED**Brace Of Consecutively Numbered Armoury Tagged Victorian English Officer’s Enfield Pattern Sea Service 16 Bore Percussion Pistols With Captive Ram Rods. Sn 21053 - 21053 This is an excellent original brace of Victorian Officer’s Sea Service percussion pistols. They are each 13 ½” overall length with 8” barrels. The sighted barrel’s smooth bores have just staining consistent with age. The barrels, action plates and brass trigger guards have quality, elaborate, tooled foliate decoration. The Walnut stocks are excellent with regulation brass furniture. They each have their original captive iron ram rods. The brass butt plates have steel lanyard rings. Attached to each lanyard are brass disc tags consecutively numbered LP/2B and LP/3B. Each disc most likely period armoury identification tags also have crown marks. The numbers are repeated in small original white paint marks on the side of each barrel. The actions both function crisply. The price for this pair of ornate Officer’s pistols includes UK delivery. **BEST QUALITY** Brace Of English Durs Egg London 24 Bore Percussion Traveling Pistols With Octagonal Damascus Steel Barrels & Captive Iron Ram Rods. Sn 21020 - 21020 Durs Egg (1748–1831) was a Swiss-born British gunmaker, noted for his quality pistols and for his company's production of the Ferguson rifle. Egg was apprenticed in Solothurn and Paris before establishing his own business in London in 1772. He was a contemporary of Joseph Manton, Jean Samuel Pauly and the uncle of Joseph Egg. When the famous gunsmith Durs Egg died in 1831 his Son John Egg took over the business operating at Haymarket London. In 1839 The business name reverted to Durs Egg at 4 Pall Mall London until 1854 then at 4 Colonnade Pall Mall from 1855 to 1865. This is a best quality pair of percussion traveling pistols by Durs Egg. The matching pistols are beautifully engraved with a foliate design on the action plates, hammers, trigger guards with extended tangs and Pineapple finials, butt caps and action tangs. The breeches both have inlaid gold lines and roundels. The action plates are both signed by the manufacturer 'D.Egg’. Both measure 14" overall & have 8” sighted Damascus steel octagonal barrels which are 24 bore. Each barrel is signed ‘London’. The smooth bores are clean and bright. They both have undamaged attractive full walnut stocks with chequered panels at their grips and polished horn fore end caps. The top of each stock is inlaid with void silver escutcheons. Early 1800’s English Form Worts & Co 15 Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol. Sn 21036 - 21036 This is a very good flintlock holster Pistol in English form. It is 15” overall with a 9" round steel barrel. The barrel’s smoothbore has just staining consistent with age and use. The barrel has English black powder proofs. It has a plain lock plate & cock fitted with flint. The lock plate is signed ‘Worts & Co’ ( we cannot find references to this gunmaker or retailer in our books or online. Possible American?). It has a walnut full stock which has just the light knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age. It brass furniture and iron ram rod. It's action works crisply. C1821-1830 English Richard Brunton York 54 Bore Flintlock Pocket Pistol With Turn Off Barrel. Sn 21013 - 21013 Richard Brunton was an English gunmaker recorded at High Street Doncaster Yorkshire 1817-1820 & Stonegate, York 1821-1830 (see page 182 of ‘British Gunmakers Vol.2’ by Brown). This is an excellent flintlock pocket pistol by Brunton made at his York premises. It is 6 ¼” overall with a 1 ¾” screw off barrel which is 54 Bore (the barrel requires a tool to turn it off, we do not have the tool). The smoothbore has just light staining consistent with age. The underside of the barrel & action have crisp English proofs. Its action is decorated with Martial shield and banners on both sides. One side has the manufacturer's name 'Brunton' & the reverse ‘York’. It has undamaged original bag shaped wood grip and safety catch. The cock is fitted with flint. C1820’s Brace Of English, Claborough Lincoln 32 Bore Flintlock Overcoat Pistols With Turn Off Octagonal Barrels & Concealed Triggers. Sn 21019 - 21019 Peter Claborough was an English gunsmith with premises at The High Street Lincoln between 1821 and 1828. Jane Claborough is recorded as operating at the same premises C1840. Peter's Brother Joseph Claborough operated as a gunsmith at various addresses in Birmingham between 1868 & 1902. This is an excellent pair of flintlock overcoat pistols by Claborough made at his premises in Lincoln. The pistols are each 7 ½” overall length with 2 ½” screw off octagonal barrels. The barrel’s smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. The steel actions are both engraved by the maker 'Clabrough Lincoln' and have Martial banners and arms and foliate devices. They have ‘dog tooth’ engraved box lock actions with side mounted ‘v’ shaped rain proof pans, roller bearing frizzen springs, sliding safeties and folding concealed triggers. The actions work crisply. The pistols have English proof /inspection marks on the underside of the frames and barrels. The bag shaped wood grips with chequered panels, inlaid void diamond shaped white metal escutcheons and white metal Lion’s head butt caps are excellent & undamaged. The price includes UK delivery. **PART OF A CONSIGNMENT COMMANDEERED FROM EIC BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT FOR THE NAPOLEONIC WARS** 1802 British Barnett London East India Company Light Dragoon .650 Carbine Calibre Muzzle Loading Flintlock Pistol. Sn 21015 - 21015 The London based Barnett family of Gunsmiths are recorded at various addresses in London from 1796 to 1908 starting with Thomas Barnett at 134 Minories who later became Thomas Barnett & Sons and later John Edward Barnett at the Minories & 37 Camomile Street, ending as JE Barnett & Sons Ltd at Brewhouse Lane, Leaman Street & Duncan Street (see page 140 of Brown’s book British Gunmakers Vol.1). This is an original Light Dragoon flintlock pistol made by Barnett in 1802 for the EIC which has British proofs indicating that this pistol was one of a consignment commandeered by the British Government for Napoleonic wars use. It is 16” overall length with a 9 ½” barrel which is .650 Carbine Calibre. The barrel’s smooth bore is clean. The all original Walnut stock has brass furniture including cudgel butt and has just the bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. It has a later replacement wood ram rod with brass end cap. The barrel has English proof marks and British ordnance inspection marks. It also has EIC 1802 mark and is signed by the maker ‘Barnett’. The lock plate also has EIC 1802 mark and is signed by the maker ‘Barnett’ below ordnance inspection mark. The cock is fitted with flint & the action functions crisply. British 1821 Pattern Board Of Ordnance / War Dept Enfield Tower Sea Service .577 Regulation Calibre Muzzle Loading Flintlock Pistol With Brass Cudgel Butt, Steel Belt Bar & Correct Steel Ram Rod. Sn 21016 - 21016 This is an excellent original 1821 Pattern Sea Service flintlock pistol. It is 15 ½” overall length with a 9” barrel which is .577 Regulation Calibre. The barrel’s bore has just light staining consistent with age. The all original Walnut stock has regulation brass furniture including cudgel butt and has just the bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. The wood is impressed with ‘Broad Arrow’ Board Of Ordnance / WD mark. It has its original correct steel ram rod & is fitted with later belt bar. The barrel has English proof marks. C1840 English Conway Manchester Single Barrel 15 Bore Muzzle Loading Single Barrel Percussion Sporting / Hunting Shotgun With Rare Early Form Grip Safety. Sn 20950 - 20950 Thomas Conway was an English Gunsmith with premises in Manchester at 179 Chapel Street, 3 Market Street & 43 Blackfriars Street, Deansgate between 1803-1852. Samuel Conway was an English Cheshire based Gunsmith. In 1840 he is recorded as having premises at 4 Middle Hillgate Stockport (see page 196 of Brown’s book British Gunmakers Vol.2).This is a single barrel percussion shotgun made C1840. It has a 31” brown wash steel barrel & measures 47 ½” overall. The barrel’s smooth bore has just staining & residue consistent with age and use. The barrel has a small bead fore sight and the rear sight consists of a shallow groove. It has all original walnut stock which has bumps and bruises to be expected with age and use (there is an old contemporary repair to the stock at the rear of the action which can be seen in the images and is totally secure). It has a steel butt plate with extended tang, steel trigger guard with extended tang & Dolphin hammer. Behind the trigger is a rare to find early form grip safety bar (the cocked hammer cannot be fired without the grip safety being pressed at the same time as pulling the trigger). The action plate has foliate engraved decoration and is signed ‘Conway’. The top of the barrel has partially visible ‘Manchester’. The shotgun is complete with wood ramrod which has a brass end cap. Early 1800’s English Thomas Proudman Birmingham Ladies Or Youth Size Flintock 18 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Sporting Shotgun. Sn 20971 - 20971 Thomas Proudman was an English Birmingham based Gunmaker recorded as working at Steelhouse Lane C1820-21, 26 Russell Street 1822-27, Aston Road 1828-37 and 99 Dartmouth Street 1838-50 (see page 312 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown). This is an antique muzzle loading 18 Bore Single Barrel Muzzle Loading Percussion Sporting Shotgun by Proudman. It has a 27 ½” browned steel barrel and measures a short 44” overall making it ideal for ladies or youth use. The muzzle has a brass blade foresight. The barrel's smooth bore has staining & residue consistent with age and use. The trigger guard has extended tang with Pineapple finial. The lock plate has partially visible makers name ‘T. Proudman’. The cock is fitted with flint. The wrist of the stock has chequered panels. The stock has a brass fore end block & is fitted with a steel butt plate. The wood is all original with just light bumps and bruises to be expected. The gun has an ebonised wood ram rod with steel end cap and steel worm tip.
