**RARE** British WD, 1859 Dated, 5 Groove, Enfield Tower Snider MK III .577 Calibre Cavalry Carbine With Chained Nipple Protector & Original 2 Piece Steel Cleaning Rod. Sn 21150 - 21150 This is an original British .577 Snider MK III Cavalry Carbine. The Snider action was introduced to British service in 1866 and muzzle loading Enfield Carbines were converted to allow the use of the .577 calibre brass cartridge. They remained in use until the Martini Henry was introduced. This carbine made in 1859 has a 19 ¼” barrel (37 ½” overall). The 5 groove barrels bore has just light staining consistent with age and well defined rifling. It has a brass butt plate with trap and brass trigger guard. The trap contains its rare to find original period 2 piece screw together steel cleaning rod. The woodwork is undamaged with just bumps and bruises to be expected. The action plate is marked with the Victoria Crown 'V.R' (Victoria Regina), dated 1859 and has the 'Tower' (Enfield) manufacturer's stamp together with ordnance inspection mark. The top of the breech is stamped 'III' model designation. The hinged breech cover also has WD inspection marks and the correct knurled steel breech release catch. The carbine has a fixed foresight, adjustable ladder rear sight and it is fitted with nipple protector with brass link chain. The action is crisp. The price includes UK delivery. SOLD SOLD C1790 Balkan Cossack’s / Albanian / Turkish Ottoman Form 18 Bore Miquelet Lock Pistol With Ornately Decorated Brass Wrapped Frame, Steel Barrel & ‘Rat Tail’ Butt With Ornate Inlaid Decoration. A 1072 - A 1072 This is an attractive Balkans Cossack’s / Albanian / Turkish Ottoman Pistol. It is 19”overall with a 12” steel barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The barrel is unsighted. It has its original brass wrapped full stock ornately decorated with geometric & scroll tooling & inlayed ‘jewels’ . The brass has knocks and bumps to be expected but is totally secure and it has the typical ‘rat tail’ butt. The pistol has steel ram rod. The miquelet action cocks & dry fires. 1888 Dated WW1 Era Imperial German Army Spandau Model 1871/84 11.15 x 60R Obsolete Calibre Tube Magazine Bolt Action. Sn 21122 - 21122 The 11.15x60R calibre Mauser Model 1871/84 Rifle with tube magazine was adopted as the Infanterie-Gewehr 71/84. The rifle was designed and manufactured by Paul Mauser and Wilhelm Mauser of the Mauser company. The rifles were issued to Infantry Regiments. This is an original example of the Mauser M1871/84. Its woodwork is all original & has the knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age and service use. The metalwork is undamaged with even aged patina. The barrel’s bore is clean with well defined rifling. The breech is faintly marked 'Spandau' with Crown and Imperial proof/ inspection marks, model designation and 1888 date. The weapon has matching numbers 1662 on the barrel and breech. The bolt has un-matching number. The bolt action firing mechanism works as it should. Swedish, 1871 Dated , 12.17mm ( US Cal 50-70), Model 1867-1867 Rolling Block Rifle Sn - 21121 The Remington Rolling Block rifle was a breech-loading rifle produced from the mid-1860s into the early 20th century by E. Remington and Sons (later Remington Arms Company). The action was extremely strong, and could easily withstand the increased pressure of the new smokeless powders coming into use by the late 1880s. This type of rifle was used in the Franco/Prussian War, Egyptian War 1882 and The Sudanese War 1884-85. This is an excellent original Swedish made Model 1867-1867 rolling block rifle chambered for the 12.17 x 44R centre fire cartridge ( American 50-70) . The right hand side of the breech is stamped H (Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag) over 1871 (Date) and the serial number 2184 which is stamped into the metalwork. This number is also stamped into the right side of the fore end under the rear sight an dinto the stock on the right hand side behind the hammer. The rifle has a 37 ¼ " barrel and measures 53 inches overall and has an external hammer and ladder rear sight. The rifle has a clean bore with well defined rifling. The woodwork and metal work are both undamaged and have a nice patina throughout. The woodwork has only the minor bumps and bruises from normal use which is to be expected of a weapon of this age. The rifle is complete with its correct clearing rod, two sling swivels and a leather sling. The right hand side of the butt plate has a brass identification plate held on by a single screw. The rifle and is intended for the socket bayonet, not being fitted with a bayonet bar. The price for this rifle includes UK delivery. Romanian Martini M1879 11.43x49R Obsolete Calibre Underlever Military Rifle. Sn - 21119 Romania adopted the M1868 Peabody rifle in 1879 chambered for the unique 11.43x49R cartridge made by the Providence Tool Company of America. The Providence Tool Company had difficulty in obtaining payment for the Turkish Rifles and subsequently went bankrupt in 1882 An alternative source of supply for rifles for Roumania was sourced from Steyr O.E.W.G (Osterreichische Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft) for the hammerless Model 1879 Martini which is visually identical to the mark 1 British Martini Henry rifle including the chequered butt plate, large cocking indicator and the bulbous clearing rod. This rifle is one of those models which retains most of its original blued finish to the metalwork. The rifle is stamped on the left hand side of the receiver with the Steyr monogram with STEYR 1882 stamped into it. The right hand side of the receiver is stamped in a monogram ARMATA ROMANA ARMA Md 1879. The breach and barrel carry the matching serial numbers of N 4783 together with various proof and inspection stamps. The rifle is fitted with sling swivels, block and blade fore sight, graduated ladder rear sight, the correct chequered steel butt plate and a leather sling. The rifle measures 49” overall with a 33” rifled barrel which has crisp rifling and light staining consistent with age and service use. The metalwork retains most of its original blued finish and the original woodwork is in excellent condition. The cocking and firing actions work crisply. Swiss, Military Schmidt-Rubin Model 1889 7.5 x 53.5 mm Straight Pull Rifle, All Matching Serial Numbers. - A 1068 In 1882 Eduard Rubin began testing the first small-calibre copper-jacketed bullet which could successfully withstand high velocities. In 1885, this round was combined with Rudolf Schmidt's first straight-pull action resulting in the Swiss, Schmidt-Rubin Model 1889 7.5 x 53.5 mm Rifle. This is a very good example of the Schmidt-Rubin Model 1889 rifle with excellent wood and metal work throughout. The rifle measures 51 ½ ”overall with a 31” barrel. The rifle is stamped with the matching serial number 83621 on the breech, barrel, bolt, rear sight and magazine. The stock is stamped with Swiss Military marks and roundel with number 3. Behind this on the butt plate is stamped with 3 over the Swiss cross over 390 (weapon and rack number). This is a very good example with all original wood with minor bumps due to service use. The metalwork retains all of its original blued finish. The stock & metal are stamped with Swiss Military marks (illustrated). The gun is complete with its bayonet bar, slings swivels, adjustable rear sight (graduated to 2000 metres) and fore sight. The cocking and firing actions work perfectly. The barrel’s bore has staining & residue consistent with age. The all original Walnut stock has regulation brass furniture including cudgel butt and has just light bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. Victorian Era British Enfield Tower Merchant Ship’s 10 Bore Muzzle Loading Percussion Pistol With Brass Cudgel Butt, Iron Ram Rod & Copy Of Page From Phillip Webley & Son’s 1870’s Merchant Ships Store Catalogue Advertising This Type Of Pistol. Sn 21014 - 21014 This type of pistol were carried on British Merchant Ship’s for protection against enemy nations and pirates. A copy of a page from a Phillip Webley & Son’s catalogue of the 1870’s which illustrates Merchant ships stores weapons & equipment including a pistol the same as ours accompanies this pistol and can be seen in our images. Our pistol is 15” overall length with an 8 ½” round steel barrel which is a large 10 bore. The barrel’s bore has staining & residue consistent with age. The all original Walnut stock brass furniture including cudgel butt and has just the bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. The wood has an indistinct maker or retailer roundel. It has its original iron ram rod. The lock plate is marked with Crown & Tower (Enfield) indicating that, as was common, this Merchant ship example may have been period made from parts of war department muskets for use protecting Merchant shipping. 1854-1869 English Irwin Wallas Of Wigton & Carlisle (Cumberland) Double Barrelled 12 Bore Muzzle Loading Percussion Shotgun. Sn 21010 - 21010 Wallas were a large family of Wigton & Carlisle Cumberland based gunmakers working from 1827 through to C1913. Irwin Wallas is recorded at Ludgate Lane Wigton between 1854 and 1869 (see page 357 of British Gunmakers Vol 2 by Brown). This is a very good double barrel shotgun made by Irwin Wallas. It has all original Walnut furniture. The shotgun with double 30”, brown wash steel barrels, has double hammers & triggers. It measures 46” overall. The barrel has a small brass bead fore sight and the barrel rib is faintly signed ‘Wallas Wigton & Carlisle’. The cocking and firing actions are crisp. Both action plates are signed ‘I. Wallas’ within foliate decorations. The barrel’s smooth bores have just light staining consistent with age. The shotgun has its original wood ram rod with brass end cap and tip. **ORNATELY ENGRAVED**Brace Of Consecutively Numbered Armoury Tagged Victorian English Officer’s Enfield Pattern Sea Service 16 Bore Percussion Pistols With Captive Ram Rods. Sn 21053 - 21053 This is an excellent original brace of Victorian Officer’s Sea Service percussion pistols. They are each 13 ½” overall length with 8” barrels. The sighted barrel’s smooth bores have just staining consistent with age. The barrels, action plates and brass trigger guards have quality, elaborate, tooled foliate decoration. The Walnut stocks are excellent with regulation brass furniture. They each have their original captive iron ram rods. The brass butt plates have steel lanyard rings. Attached to each lanyard are brass disc tags consecutively numbered LP/2B and LP/3B. Each disc most likely period armoury identification tags also have crown marks. The numbers are repeated in small original white paint marks on the side of each barrel. The actions both function crisply. The price for this pair of ornate Officer’s pistols includes UK delivery.
