1831 French Model 1822 Challerault Cavalry Pistol Converted from Flintlock to Percussion. A 585. - A 585 An original French Model 1822 Challerault Cavalry pistol converted from flintlock to percussion with a rifled barrel. The pistol has a dark wood stock which has regimental marks stamped into it "122 449 G". The woodwork is excellent. The lock plate is stamped with "Mre Rle de Culle". The barrel is date stamped with "1831" and "M.R." on the right-hand side and "C de 17, 6A C.C." on the left-hand side. The pistol retains the original ramrod / powder measure which is stamped "3387". The pistol's foresight and backsight are original and undamaged. The pistol cocks and dry fires with a strong action. The brass furniture is all original with a good patina and all have the French proof marks stamped inside an oval. The pistol butt has a steel lanyard ring attached to it. This is a fine example of this pistol, substantial and well made. The price includes UK delivery. Early 1800’s English Form Worts & Co 15 Bore Flintlock Holster Pistol. Sn 21036. - 21036 This is a very good flintlock holster Pistol in English form. It is 15” overall with a 9" round steel barrel. The barrel’s smoothbore has just staining consistent with age and use. The barrel has English black powder proofs. It has a plain lock plate & cock fitted with flint. The lock plate is signed ‘Worts & Co’ (we cannot find references to this gunmaker or retailer in our books or online. Possible American?). It has a walnut full stock which has just the light knocks bumps and bruises to be expected with age its brass furniture and iron ram rod. Its action works crisply. C1800 British Form Thomson Flintlock 15 Bore Coaching / Overcoat Traveling Pistol Stock Marked ‘VII’ With Heavy Brass Fittings, Safety Bolt & Captive Iron Ram Rod. Sn 21393:19 - 21393:19 This is a rugged Flintlock coaching or overcoat traveling pistol in British form by Thomson (there were several British gunmakers named Thomson in London & the Provinces during the flintlock era, several of them being in Scotland). It is 10 ½” overall with a 5” round steel barrel. The barrels’ smooth bore is clean and has black powder proofs. It has a flat stepped lock & cock fitted with flint. The lock plate is signed ‘Thomson’ and has a safety bolt. It has a walnut full stock with brass cudgel butt. The wood has period hand applied Roman numerals ‘VII’ (possibly a coach or weapon number). It has heavy brass fittings including trigger guard with extended tang and fore end cap. It is complete with original captive iron ram rod. Its action works crisply. The price includes UK delivery. QUALITY C1840 English R.S. Clarke 16 Bore Percussion Traveling Pistol with Octagonal Damascus Barrel, German Silver Mounts & Ram Rod. 15033. - 15033 This is a quality made percussion pistol made C1840. It is 9 ½” overall with a 5” octagonal Damascus steel barrel. The barrel is fitted with German silver blade fore sight and grooved action rear sight. The barrel’s smoothbore is clean. The barrel has double inlaid silver lines and the action a silver roundel insert. It’s action plate, Dolphin hammer and trigger guard with extended tang have crisp foliate engraved decoration. The action plate is signed by the maker in stylised script ‘R.S. Clark’. Its original walnut stock has a chequered panel pistol grip. The wood has just light bumps and bruises to be expected with age and use. The stock has German silver fittings (a small piece of one German silver stock mount on the right side of the pistol is absent as can be seen in the images). The pistol has its original wood ram rod with horn end cap. Its action works as it should. The price for this pistol worthy of further research re the maker includes UK delivery. Enfield, 1860 Dated, Snider 2 Band .577 Obsolete Calibre Short Rifle, Chained Nipple Protector & 1 x Inert Deactivated Round Marked to; the 66th Regiment of Foot. - A 1124 This is an excellent Enfield made .577 Snider 2 band rifle. The rifle was originally made as a breech loading percussion service rifle and was later converted to the Snider breechloading system to continue in British service. The rifle has all original wood work in excellent condition with only minor marks from service use. The rifle has the regulation brass fittings with iron barrel bands and ramrod. The barrel retains much of its original blued finish and has an excellent bore with well defined rifling with minor staining and residue from use. The rifle carries Enfield inspection/proof marks. The breech also carries Enfield inspection/proof marks as well as SNIDERS PATENT stamped on the top. The rifle is fitted with the plain style Enfield lockplate and is stamped 1860 ENFIELD, a queens crown over V.R (Victoria Regina) and 2 inspection marks. The total length is 43 inches with a 28 inch barrel. The rifle is fitted with a 2* breech and has the correct hinged cover. The breech has snider’s Patent mark. The stock carries an excellent Enfield roundel to the right hand side ‘R,M ENFIELD WD and a crowfoot. Behind this near the butt plate is stamped D C. the top of the brass butt plate is stamped 66 over 361. (66th [Berkshire] Regiment of Foot which was raised in 1758 and was merged in 1881 into The Princess Charlotte of Wales’s {Berkshire Regiment}), gun number 361. The action is fitted with link chained nipple protector. The cocking & firing action work crisply. The rifle comes with a single Inert Deactivated Round of Kynoch .577 Ammunition. 19th Century British Sykes Sheffield Pocket Pistol Size Plain Category Copper & Brass Black Powder Flask with Sprung Nozzle Charger. A 596 - A 596 Decoration of powder flasks varied dramatically with plain utilitarian examples and ornate examples with hunting, game animals, foliate, village, military and marine scenes & were made of a wide variety of materials. This tiny pocket pistol size flask falls into the ‘Plain category’ described in the ‘Plain Flasks’ chapter (page 271) of, ‘The Powder Flask’ book by Riling. Similar small copper and brass plain flasks are illustrated at plates 125 of Rilings book page 272 & 274 along with other forms from the period Sykes catalogue. Riling states that these plain flasks “should receive special attention from the new collector and form an important part of any collection”. This tiny flask measures 3 ½” overall length and is 1 ½” at its widest. The brass sprung charger works correctly and has a removable screw in nozzle. The copper body is faintly stamped by the manufacturer ‘Sykes’. The copper has a few minor dents but no cracks or splits. The price includes UK delivery. A 596 £195.00 |

Cased C1852 Webley Bentley Type Wedge Frame 80 Bore Five Shot Double Action Only Percussion Revolver With Spurless Hammer, Octagonal Barrel & Accessories. Sn 22446 - 22446 This is an original example of the English Webley Bentley Wedge Frame type double-action only percussion revolver, as produced C 1852. The English wedge frame design popular in the period on Colt USA revolvers is attributed to Birmingham gun maker Philip Webley, although Webley himself seemed to have manufactured very few of the guns. The simplified double-action lock mechanism typically encountered in these revolvers is usually of the Joseph Bentley design and these guns are often referred to as Webley-Bentley revolvers, even though they were produced by many makers. This is an antique, cased C1852 Webley Bentley Wedge Frame type 80 Bore Five Shot Double Action Only Percussion Revolver. It has English black powder proof mark on the barrel and cylinder. There are no external maker, date or serial number on the pistol. The double action only firing mechanism works crisply. It has the correct loading lever and has a spurless hammer. The pistol has a 5 inch octagonal barrel (10 ¼ inches overall). The barrels rifled bore has just light staining consistent with age. It has a brass post fore sight and notch frame rear sight. The metal has even patina and some original blue finish. Its finely chequered walnut grip is undamaged. The pistol is contained in its later period fitted wood case. The case is lined in felt and has compartments which snugly fit the weapon and its accessories. The accessory compartments contain an original pistol size brass and copper black powder with sprung nozzle, a brass & steel double bullet mould marked 80 (bore), 2 moulded lead bullets, an Eley Bros London labelled percussion cap tin containing a small quantity of percussion caps, a white metal oil container with screw off lid which has an integral oil applicator/ tool and 2 ebonised wood handled tools. The inside of the lid has a later W.C Hill Gunmaker London reproduction trade label & one edge of the inside of the case has a previous owners descriptive label adhered. The exterior lid of the case has an inlaid void brass disc and the case has a brass lock (key absent). The price for this antique cased pistol with accessories includes UK delivery. Sn 22426:47 - 22426:47 This is a nice percussion pocket pistol made in Liege Belgium C1830. The pistol’s action has foliate engraved decoration all around. The side of the breach has a Liege ‘ELG’ roundel proof / inspection mark and the underside a small indistinct inspection mark (illustrated). The pistol measures 7” overall & has a just under 2 ¾” turn off Damascus steel barrel. The barrel’s rifled bore has just staining consistent with age & use. C1830 Liege Belgium 50 Bore Percussion Pocket Pistol With Screw Off Rifled Barrel, Folding Concealed Trigger. Sn 22426:46 - 22426:46 This is a nice percussion pocket pistol made in Liege Belgium C1830. The pistol’s action has foliate engraved decoration all around. The barrel is numbered ‘73’ and the action has a Liege ‘ELG’ roundel proof / inspection mark (illustrated). The pistol measures 6 ¼” overall & has a just under 2 ¼” turn off barrel. The barrel’s rifled bore has just staining consistent with age & use. *MINT BORE* *RARE*. Danish, Model M1848/65 Snider Conversion (17.5x28R) of the Model1848 Bagladeriffel Pillar Breech Percussion Obsolete Calibre Rifle. Sn - 22426:33 This is a rare Danish Model M1848/65 (1851 dated) Snider converted rifle that was converted from the Model 1848 Bagladeriffel pillar breech percussion rifle. The rifles were converted in 1865 to the Snider breechloading mechanism at the Copenhagen Arsenal. The rifle has a mint bore with sharp rifling. The lockplate is stamped with the Danish royal cypher over MD 1848 1851-45 (indicating a Model MD-1848 manufactured in 1851) serial number 45. The rifle has a full walnut stock which is in a lovely condition with only minor marks to it. The rifle has a brass butt plate, trigger guard and side plate. There are three iron barrel bands, the lower one held by a spring clip, the middle one retained by the screw through the sling swivel and the top one which has the foresight fixed on the top. The lower sling swivel is attached to the rifles lower butt. The iron patchbox from the muzzle loading rifle is retained. The rifles rearsight adjustment is by releasing a side screw and sliding the rear sight in an arced track near the breech for elevation. The breech is opened by pushing in a button on the left hand side of the breech and flipping the block over. Extraction is in the usual Snider manner by pulling the breech block back and turning the rifle upside down. The serial numbers on the rifle are matching, 45 for the original muzzle loading rifle and 4924 for the Snider conversion. The woodwork is in very good condition with only minor bumps and bruises expected with service use. The rifle retains its original sling swivels. At the time, the Danish rifle fired the worlds largest diameter rimfire rifle cartridge. The weapon’s loading, cocking and firing actions work crisply. The price includes UK delivery.
