1959-1962 B.S.A Meteor MK I .177 Calibre Break Action Air Rifle 'NH' Prefix Serial Number, with Target Sight in excellent condition . AI 505. - AI 505
Birmingham Small Arms introduced the Meteor Air rifle in both .177 & .22 calibre in 1959. MK 1 rifles were produced until 1962 when the MK II model was introduced. MK II production continued until 1968. The small frame rifle is 41 ½” overall with an 18" barrel. This is a near mint example of the MK I Meteor in .177 Calibre. It has a light coloured wood stock with grooved butt end. The metal work retains all of its original blueing. The top of the adjustable rear rail is stamped with 'BSA Meteor' with stylised arrow logo. The rifle's serial number 'NH43081' is stamped on the underside of the barrel block. The 'NH' prefix serial number dates the rifle to between 1959 and 1962 (see page 39 of Collector's Guide to Air Rifles By Hiller). The top of the barrel is stamped ‘BSA Guns Ltd England’ together with ‘.177 Cal’ and BSA piled arms logo. The barrel's bore is clean with crisp rifling and it cocks and fires as it should with a strong spring action. The price includes UK delivery. The Weihrauch name has been associated with solid build quality and reliability for many years. Ever since the HW80 transformed the hunting rifle market, Weihrauch’s range of solid, accurate springers have been a popular choice for airgunners. The underlever HW97K was specially developed for field and target shooting. This is an excellent example in .22 calibre. The rifle has a 17 ¾” barrel and measures 43 ½” overall. It has all original woodwork with figured cheek piece and rubber shoulder recoil pad. The wood has just small light scuffs consistent with use. The metal work retains its original blueing. The barrel block is marked with model , maker and calibre detail (illustrated in image 2). The barrel is marked with serial number '1442037' and by the British importer Hull Cartridge. The rifle cocks loads and fires with a nice tight action. It is fitted with a Gold Crown 3-9 X 42 Telescopic Sight in similar excellent condition. The Weihrauch name has been associated with solid build quality and reliability for many years. Introduced in the 1990’s the HW80 transformed the hunting rifle market. The air rifles were available as the HW80 (full size) and HW80K with shorter barrel. This is a near mint Weihrauch HW80K in .22 calibre. The rifle has a 19” barrel fitted with factory sound moderator and Telescopic sight. It measures 45” overall. It has superb woodwork and rubber shoulder recoil pad. The metal work retains all of its original blueing and the top of the air cylinder is grooved for telescopic sight. The barrel block is marked with model and calibre detail (illustrated in image 2). It is serial number '1880033' and is marked by the British importers ‘Hull Cartridge’. The rifle cocks loads and fires with a nice tight action. Boxed, 1970’s B.S.A MK V Super Meteor .22 Calibre Break Action Air Rifle 'TH' Prefix Serial Number. Sn 18085:26 - 18085:26
Birmingham Small Arms introduced the MK V Super meteor in the 1970’s with an improved trigger action and cylinder drilled to allow relocation of the rear sight to the rear of the cylinder. This is a near mint example of the MK V Meteor in .22 Calibre. The small frame rifle is 41 ½” overall with an 18 ¼” barrel. It has an undamaged wood stock with ribbed butt. The metal work retains all of its original blue finish. It has a ramp block and blade fore sight & adjustable target rear sight. The top of the cylinder is milled for scope mounts and is correctly marked 'BSA Meteor' (without arrows as found on standard Meteors). It has the correct drilled hole for sight relocation. The rifle's serial number 'TH5637' which identifies the rifle as a .22 calibre MK V Super Meteor (see page 44 of The Collector's Guide to Air Rifles By Hiller). The barrel's bore is clean with crisp rifling and it cocks and fires as it should with a strong spring action. The rifle comes with its original cardboard retail box which contains its original pressed cardboard inserts to protect the rifle. The exterior of the box has colourful BSA labelling and imagery. It has faint serial number on the trigger block which appears to be ‘GE 1321’ which dates it to between 1965 and 1967 (see page 49 of Hillers Book 'A Collectors Guide to Air Rifles'). The woodwork and metal work are all original & in excellent undamaged condition. It is under lever cocking and has a shrouded ramp foresight & adjustable dial rear sight. An excellent condition1st Series, 1st Type, B.S.A, Club Airsporter .177 Calibre Air Rifle, the fore runner of the BSA Airsporter MK1 Air Rifle. It is serial number EA 12776 which dates it to between 1950-1954. Only 14,500 Club Airsporters were manufactured (see Page 47 of Hillers Book 'A Collectors Guide to Air Rifles'). The trigger block is stamped 'Patent Nos 607.045' (This patent for the cone shaped piston head and head chamber was applied for in 1946 and granted in 1947). The woodwork and metal work are all original & in excellent undamaged condition. The metal retains its original blue finish with just small areas of rubbing. The left side of the stock is nicely impressed with the winged BSA legend. It is under lever cocking and has a shrouded ramp foresight & adjustable dial rear sight. **SCARCE**1905-1908 ‘The Lincoln’ Jeffries Steelhouse Lane Birmingham .177 Calibre Break Action Variant Air Rifle. Sn 18085:6 - 18085:6
B.S.A. Lincoln Jeffries Patent Air rifles were introduced in 1905. The Lincoln & 'H' or Heavy model were produced between 1905-1908. All of the examples we have seen have been underlever variants & we cannot find any reference for break action variants. This example of the Lincoln Jeffries has the characteristics and markings of the Lincoln model apart from the fact that it is break action, rather than underlever as illustrated and described on page 17 of The Collector's Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller. The metal work has even blue finish and it has all original wood stock with chequered panel straight hand stock and chequered butt. The stock is impressed 'Lincoln Jeffries 121 Steelhouse Lane Birmingham’. The rifle measures 39 ¾” overall with an 18 ¾” two stage barrel. The top barrel flat is stamped 'The Lincoln Air Rifle’. The cylinder and trigger block are numbered ‘8009 / 009’. It has a blade foresight and ‘v’ notch plate rear sight. It loads and fires correctly with a good spring action. This is a good, boxed, early 1930’s, Webley Service Mark II 2nd Type air rifle (see pages 32-35 of Webley Air Rifles 1925-2005 By Thrale). The trigger guard of the rifle and barrel have matching serial numbers ‘S3151 / 3151’. The weapon is stamped with Patent & model detail, the Webley ‘winged bullet’ logo and Webley address. It has all original wood stock with chequered wrist & ribbed horn butt plate. The wood has just light bumps and bruises to be expected with age. It has the correct, flip up aperture sight, dial sight, ramp post fore sight & safety catch. The rifle is complete with its original Webley labelled card board retail box.
