The BSA Meteor is a break barrel spring powered rifle first made in Birmingham, UK, in 1959 by The Birmingham Small Arms Company and the first BSA air rifle engineered to fit a telescopic sight. It is one of the world’s bestselling air weapons with over 2 million sold worldwide. The rifles were marketed as ideal for plinking, hunting and firearm training as a replacement for the BSA Cadet & Cadet Major air rifles. This is a near mint early example of the MK 1 Meteor in .22 Calibre. The small frame rifle is 41 ¼” overall with an 18” rifled barrel. It has an excellent undamaged wood stock with ribbed butt and grooved fore stock. The metal work retains all of its original blue finish. It has a ramp block and blade fore sight & adjustable target rear sight. The top of the cylinder has the correct raised metal sections for attachment of telescopic sight and has 'BSA Meteor With Arrow' legend highlighted in gold. The rifle's serial number on the underside of the barrel block is 'T48676' which identifies the rifle as a .22 calibre MK 1 Meteor made between 1959 & 1962 (see page 39 of The Collector's Guide to Air Rifles By Hiller). The barrel has BSA name, pyled arms trademark and calibre detail. The barrel's bore is clean with crisp rifling and it cocks and fires as it should with a strong spring action. The rifle comes with its original cardboard retail box which contains its original pressed cardboard inserts to protect the rifle in transit. The exterior of the box has BSA labelling and imagery. The edges of the box have some wear. The box contains its original illustrated Care & maintenance pamphlet which is dated August 1959.The price for this near mint boxed early Meteor air rifle includes UK delivery. An excellent condition 1st Series, 1st Type, B.S.A, Club Airsporter .177 Calibre Air Rifle, the fore runner of the BSA Airsporter MK1 Air Rifle. It is serial number EA 17849 which dates it to between 1950-1954. Only 14,500 Club Airsporters were manufactured (see Page 47 of Hillers Book 'A Collectors Guide to Air Rifles'). The trigger block is stamped 'Patent Nos 607.045' (this patent for the cone shaped piston head and head chamber was applied for in 1946 and granted in 1947). The woodwork and metal work are all original & in excellent undamaged condition. The metal retains its original blue finish. The rifle has a 19” barrel and measures 44” overall. The cylinder has original crisp BSA model and calibre detail (illustrated). The left side of the stock is nicely impressed with the winged BSA legend. It is under lever cocking and has a ramp blade foresight & adjustable dial rear sight. Its loading and firing actions work as they should with a strong spring action. The Weihrauch name has been associated with solid build quality and reliability for many years. Ever since the HW80 transformed the hunting rifle market, Weihrauch’s range of solid, accurate springers have been a popular choice for air gunners. 1905-1914 BSA Improved Model D Straight Hand Stock Variant .177 Calibre Underlever Air Rifle. Sn 22802 - 22802
This is a nice original BSA Improved Model D Air Rifle. These rifles were made with both straight hand and pistol grip stocks and in different variations between 1905 and 1914 (see page 50 of the book of the BSA air rifle by John Milewski). This example has its original straight hand grip wood stock with correct chequered grip panels on the wrist. The stock has its original steel butt plate. The cocking arm has the correct ribbed release lever on the left side. It has a 19 ½” rifled barrel and measures 43 ¾” overall. It has a blade foresight and adjustable dial rear sight. The blued metal work has even aged patina throughout. The air cylinder has crisp BSA address and model designation, The loading port lever, barrel and cocking lever have patent detail and the barrel at the loading port has BSA’s pyled arms trademark (all illustrated). **MINT**1929 B.S.A. Standard No. 1 Model (Aka 'L' Or Light/ Ladies Model) .177 Calibre Under Lever Air Rifle With Period BSA Removable Shroud Sight Protector Cover & All Original Correct Cylinder Etching. AI 802 - AI 802
This is a near mint B.S.A. Standard No. 1 Model 177 calibre, under lever air rifle. These rifles were made between 1919 & 1935. They were also known as the 'L' or Ladies/ Light model ( see Chapter 15 of Milewski’s ‘Book Of The BSA Air Rifle’). it measures 40” overall with a 17" rifled barrel. It’s original undamaged wood stock has chequered ‘BSA’ panels at the pistol grip. It has a ribbed butt with trap. The underside of the stock is impressed ’14 ¼’ (inches stock length) and has factory inspection mark (all illustrated). The rifle has a pinched blade fore sight and adjustable dial rear sight. The fore sight has its original period slide off blued steel shroud protector cover. The foresight can be viewed through the removable shroud when attached to the rifle. The sight protector is stamped with BSA’s pyled arms trademark (illustrated, a similar sight cover but by A.J Parker is illustrated on page 244 of Milewski’s book). The metal work is undamaged with all original blue finish is superb condition. The rifle has the correct 'L' prefix serial number on the trigger block 'L37031' which dates it to 1929 (see page 27 of the Collectors Guide to Air Rifles By Hiller). The cylinder has excellent all original crisp BSA etching (illustrated, see page 112 of Milewski’s book). The Loading port is marked ‘1’ (.177 Calibre). **MATCHING NUMBERS**1892 To 1930's German Gem .177 Calibre, Break Action Smooth Bore Air Rifle. Sn 22678 - 22678
These air rifles were produced from the 1892 into the 1930’s (see page 125 of A Collector's Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller). The break action of these models is performed by depression of the thumb operated lever located on top of the breech. This is a nice original example. It has a 19” 2 stage steel barrel in .177 Calibre. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining consistent with age and use. The metal has even aged patina, The barrel is marked ‘Gem’, ‘Manufactured’ and ‘DRGM’ (German Patent mark). The rifle measures 35” overall. It’s original wood stock has a steel butt plate. The wood has knocks bumps and bruises to be expected. The rifle has a blade fore sight & ‘v’ notch plate rear sight. The breech is numbered '26558'. This is an original BSA Breakdown Pattern .177 Calibre Air Rifle made sometime in the 1930’s (see page 30 of ‘The Collectors Guide To Air Rifles’ By Hiller). It has an 18 ½” rifled barrel which is clean and measures 41 ½” overall. It has an adjustable trigger, shrouded post foresight and adjustable dial rear sight. In front of the rear sight is the BSA pyled arms trademark. The metal work has original blue finish. The original undamaged wood stock has chequered BSA logo panels at the pistol grip on both sides. The stock has a grooved butt with concealed trap. The rifle has the correct B prefix serial number ‘B1957’ and ‘B’ factory inspection mark. There are no cylinder markings on this air rifle. The BSA Mercury is a break barrel, spring powered, Air Rifle first produced in 1972 by the Birmingham Small Arms Company and then Gamo (UK) Limited. The gun was manufactured in .177 (4.5 mm) .22 (5.5 mm) and .25 (6.35 mm), the latter named the 635 Magnum. The Mercury was marketed between the BSA Meteor and Air Sporter models and was a light, easy to use rifle, originally giving a "just under legal limit UK power" of 11.5 ft/lb (15.6 J) of energy. The rifle measures 104 cm long with a barrel length of 47 cm. the rifle weighs 3 kg. The top of the chamber is stamped BSA MERCURY which is picked out in gold. BSA Guns England Cal .22 is printed on the barrel, and the serial number ZB 11199 (which dates the rifle between 1974 & 1978) stamped beneath the barrel. The blued finish to the gun is in excellent condition. The rifle is fitted with a Tasco Fully Coated Poti-Coated 1.75 – 5 x 32 telescopic sight with mounts. The rifle has a beech stock which has a nice original finish with very little marking on it. The price includes UK delivery. Air Arms Camargue .22 calibre Air Rifle with Breech Mounted Adjustable Peep Sight. - AI 661
Air Arms was born from the wreckage of the old Sussex Armoury in the early 1980's quickly and realised that there was demand for a quality British made sporting air-rifle to compete head-on with the dominant German manufacturers. Air Arms were well known for their para-military style air-rifles, but trends were changing and demand for these was falling away. The Camargue (named for the region in France where the walnut came from) a ground breaking rifle that made everyone sit up and take notice. Full UK power, smooth in operation and accurate as any available at the time quickly saw it become an airgun classic. Most were supplied with the optional sound-moderator muzzle-weight; very few were set up with open sights. The Air Arms Camargue side loading air rifle was produced between 1985 and 1991 and is highly regarded for its style and performance. This is a .22 calibre Camargue is fitted with a French walnut stock with a Tyrolean style cheek piece. The stock has a chequered wrist and fore end. The butt is fitted with a rubber recoil pad with a white spacer. The rifles steelwork is nicely blued and the gun has the rare to find with its original peep rearsight and post foresight fitted. Only a few Camargue air rifles were made with the adjustable peep rearsight and post foresight. The rifle has scope dovetails machined to the top of the receiver and is fitted with factory sling swivels with a lined leather carrying sling. The serial number of the rifle is 34155 and the metal work and stock are in excellent condition. The rifle cocks, loads & dry fires perfectly as it should with a strong spring action firing at an impressive 11.58 ft/lbs. The price includes UK delivery.
