BSA Mercury MkII (1974-1978).22 Air Rifle and Webley 4x15 Scope. AI 784 - AI 784
The BSA Mercury is a break barrel, spring powered, Air Rifle first produced in 1972 by the Birmingham Small Arms Company and then Gamo (UK) Limited. It was manufactured in .177 (4.5 mm) .22 (5.5 mm) and .25 (6.35 mm), the latter named the "635 Magnum". The Mercury was marketed between the BSA Meteor and Air Sporter models and was a light, easy to use rifle, giving a 11 ft/lbs of energy. Rifle Length: 104 cm. Barrel Length: 47 cm. Weight: 3 kg. BSA MERCURY is printed on the top of the cylinder. BSA Guns England Cal .22 is printed on the barrel, and the serial No – ZB 13028 (which dates the rifle between 1974 & 1978) is printed beneath the barrel. The blueing on the barrel and cylinder is in good condition and has some minor use related marks. The rifle has a shrouded blade fore sight and adjustable rear sight. The rifle comes with an original and Webley 4x15 Scope and rail mount *wear to the screws*. The rifle cocks, loads and fires with a nice tight action (9.47 ft/lbs). The stock is beech and has the odd age related mark to the front and rear. The price includes UK delivery. 1962-1966 B.S.A. Meteor MKII .22 Air Rifle with TA Prefix. AI 783. - AI 783
Birmingham Small Arms introduced the Meteor Air rifle in both .177 & .22 calibre in 1959. MK 1 rifles were produced until 1962 when the MK II model was introduced. MK II production continued until 1968. The small frame rifle is 41 ½” overall with an 18" barrel. This is a very nice example of the MK II Meteor in .22 Calibre. It has a light coloured wooden stock, showing minor signs of age related us with agrooved butt end *small chip*. The metal work retains 90% of its original blueing, showing signs of wear especially on the barrel. It has a block and blade fore sight. The top of the adjustable rear sight is stamped with the BSA piled arms logo and the top of the cylinder forward of its 2 raised scope mounts is crisply marked 'BSA Meteor' with stylised arrow logo. The rifle's serial number ‘TA 12819' is stamped on the underside of the barrel block. The 'TA' prefix serial number dates the rifle to between 1962 and 1966 (see page 39 of Collector's Guide to Air Rifles By Hiller). The top of the barrel is stamped ‘BSA Guns Ltd England’ together with ‘.22 Cal’ and BSA piled arms logo. The barrel's bore is clean with crisp rifling and it cocks and fires as it should with a strong spring action at 9.08 ft/lbs. The price includes UK delivery. 1979-1983 BSA Airsporter ‘S’ .22 Calibre Under Lever Air Rifle With ‘GM’ Prefix Serial Number. AI 781 - AI 788
The BSA Airsporter S was introduced in 1979. GM prefix serial numbers denote March 1983. .22 calibre (see page 59 of The Collector’s Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller). This is an example of the ‘Deluxe Version’ Airsporter S in .22 calibre with increased power. The rifle measures 45” overall with a 19 ½” barrel. The rifle has a walnut stock showing some minor indentations to the underside, but nothing major with contoured cheek. The stock has finely chequered wrist panels for grip and is fitted with a rubber recoil pad the end of which bears the BSA piled arms logo. The weapon's barrel is stamped 'BSA Guns Ltd England .22 Cal' also with the BSA piled arms logo. The left side of the barrel is stamped with the correct GM prefix serial number 'GM 04667'which dates the rifle between 1979 & 1983. The bore is rifled; the barrel’s bore is clean. The top of the air cylinder has the correct marking ‘BSA Airsporter S’. The weapon's metal work appears to have been re-blued, the cylinder end cap has been polished and the rifle has use related scratches to the barrel and cylinder. The weapon loads and fires perfectly crisply t 8.53 ft/lbs. The price includes UK delivery. ‘The Briton’ (Second Model)’ De Luxe’ Pre War .177 Calibre Air Pistol Manufactured (or assembled) likely by Frank Clarke in Birmingham, England from Circa 1931 – 1939.This is a good example of this scarce pre-war ‘pop out’ tin plate junior Air Pistol. The pistol is in good order overall retaining most of its original blueing. It has the iconic ‘Bulldog’ image and text detailing ‘The Briton Made in England’ stamped on top of the chamber and features the white inlet plastic grip plates denoting the ‘De luxe’ version. This is a Webley Senior air pistol made pre WW2 (see pages 77 & 79 of Webley Air Pistols’ by Bruce’). It is undamaged with brown vulcanite chequered grips correctly without Webley signature roundels *undamaged with very light scratches. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'The Webley Senior Made In England' together with 'oil here' and arrow indicator pointing to the oil hole located on top of the cylinder. The right side is stamped 'Webley & Scott Ltd, Birmingham' and has the correct pre war patents. The frame has serial number ‘S9938’. The forward barrel block is stamped '.22S' calibre & the front of the cylinder stamped with matching number '938'. The pre war barrel is correctly without central knurled section which was introduced post WW2. It has a blade foresight & adjustable rear sight. The pistol cocks and fires crisply. This is a nice Webley Senior .22 Calibre Air pistol. It is perfect undamaged with brown plastic grips. The left side of the cylinder is stamped 'The Webley Senior Made In England' together with 'oil' and arrow indicator pointing to the oil hole located on top of the cylinder highlighted in original white paint. The right side is stamped 'Webley & Scott Ltd, Birmingham and with Webley Patents'. The forward barrel block is stamped '.22' calibre & the front of the cylinder stamped with serial number '950'. It has a blade foresight & adjustable rear sight and it cocks and fires perfectly with a strong spring action. The pistol is contained in its original Webley cardboard box with Pre 1958 Birmingham 4 address Webley labelling & imagery (The pre 1958 Birmingham area code 4 was removed post 1958 after a factory relocation, See Page 85 of Webley Air Pistols by Bruce) with the original barrel brush and a brass oil bottle from a WWI/WWII SMLE rifle cleaning kit. *Rare ‘Healthways Sharpshooter 175’ .175 BB Air Pistol. AI 748. - AI 748
Healthways a U.S owned company distributed its air weapons through its sole U.K distributor ‘Parke-Hale Ltd’ in Birmingham. Our example the ‘Sharpshooter 175’ was known as the ‘Model 9100’ in the U.S. Firing up to 50 .175 BB’s and weighing 800g it is a nice looking pistol emulating a ‘Luger’. Serial No 0235642. It has sport blade front sights and fixed rear sights. The grips are durable checked epoxy brown and it has an integral frame. The barrel length is 6 ½ “. The pistol is in very good condition showing age related wear in parts, it cocks and fires crisply. A very rare collectors piece. *RARE*1956-1958 B.S.A. First Model Airsporter MKI .22 Calibre, Under Lever, Air Rifle With ‘GB’ Prefix Serial Number. AI 731 - AI 731
A very good condition B.S.A, MKI First Model Airsporter, .22 Calibre Air Rifle. It is serial number GB6071 which dates it to between 1956-1958 (see Page 48 of Hillers Book 'A Collectors Guide to Air Rifles'). The woodwork and metal work are all original & in excellent undamaged condition with only minor marks to the forestock and very light age related wear to the barrel and trigger guard, which appears to have been repainted. First Model MKI's were not grooved for telescopic sight and on this example the grooves are correctly absent. The cylinder mark ‘The Birmingham Small Arms Co Ltd Airsporter .22 Air Rifle Made In England’ together with BSA’s piled arms trademark isn’t visible. The forestock has finger grooves and the butt is ribbed. It is fitted with adjustable flip up rear sight & shrouded foresight . The rifle is 44” overall length. It is under lever cocking and its loading and firing action works perfectly. The price for this rare First Model Airsporter includes UK delivery.
