1970’s Webley Jaguar .177 Calibre Small Frame Break Action Air Rifle. AI 665 - AI 665
Webley introduced their Jaguar air rifle in 1970 and production ran through to 1979 (see Page 225 of Hiller’s Book 'A Collectors Guide to Air Rifles'). The woodwork and metal work of this example are in very good undamaged condition. It has an 14” clean rifled barrel and measures 36 ½” overall. The underside of the barrel is numbered ‘496’ . The air chamber has its original spot welded sight rail and the weapon is marked with model and manufacturer detail (illustrated). It has a post fore sight and adjustable rear sight. The unmarked hardwood stock has chequering to the fore-stock and pistol grip to provide a great hold for the shooter, even in wet conditions. Open sights are fitted as standard with tru-glo inserts, and the breech is grooved with a 9-11mm dovetail rail for fitting a scope or other optics. The serial No-WE 126917-15 is etched to the side of the barrel and the BSA piled arms logo along with ‘METEOR EVO’ is etched to the top of the breech. The Weihrauch name has been associated with solid build quality and reliability for many years. Weihrauch’s range of solid, accurate springers have been a popular choice for airgunners. The HW 35 was introduced in the early 1950s and production continued into the modern era. This is Weihrauch HW35 is in .177 calibre. The rifle has a 20” barrel and original undamaged wood with figured cheek piece and rubber shoulder recoil pad. The metal work retains its original blueing which has light blemishes and wear consistent with use. It has a shrouded target fore sight Diopoter rear sight (The diopter is in principle a vertically and horizontally (elevation and windage) adjustable occluder with a small hole (aperture), and is placed close in front of the shooter's aiming eye. Through this small hole the shooter can view the front sight component(s) and the intended target), the optics are excellent. The barrel block is marked with model and calibre detail and features the correct barrel locking lever. The rifle is serial number 1150320. The Weihrauch name has been associated with solid build quality and reliability for many years. Ever since the HW80 transformed the hunting rifle market, Weihrauch’s range of solid, accurate springers have been a popular choice for airgunners. This is a near mint Weihrauch HW99S in .22 calibre. The ‘S’ designation refers to the fact that these rifles have an adjustable sports trigger. The carbine size rifle has a 15 ½” barrel and measures 41 ½” overall. It has superb woodwork and rubber shoulder recoil pad. The metal work retains all of its original blueing and the top of the Air cylinder which is grooved for telescopic sight. The barrel block is marked with model and calibre detail. The barrel is marked by the British importer 'Hull cartridge'. It is serial number '1691754'. The rifle cocks loads and fires with a powerful tight action. RARE*1956-1958 B.S.A. First Model Airsporter MKI .22 Calibre, Under Lever, Air Rifle with ‘GB’ Prefix Serial Number. AI 902. - AI 902
A very good condition B.S.A, MKI First Model Airsporter, .22 Calibre Air Rifle. It is serial number GB6657 which dates it to between 1956-1958 (see Page 48 of Hillers Book 'A Collectors Guide to Air Rifles'). The woodwork and metal work are all original & in excellent condition with only minor marks to the fore stock and light age related wear to the barrel and trigger guard, which appears to have been repainted. First Model MKI's were not grooved for telescopic sight and on this example the grooves are correctly absent. The cylinder mark ‘The Birmingham Small Arms Co Ltd Airsporter .22 Air Rifle Made In England’ together with BSA’s piled arms trademark isn’t visible. The forestock has finger grooves and the butt is ribbed. It is fitted with adjustable flip up rear sight & shrouded foresight . The rifle is 44” overall length. *Early Model* 1959-1962 B.S.A Mk 1 Meteor .177 Calibre Break Action Air Rifle 'N' Prefix Serial Number. AI 901. - AI 901
The BSA Meteor is a break barrel spring powered rifle first made in Birmingham, UK, in 1959 by The Birmingham Small Arms Company and the first BSA air rifle engineered to fit a telescopic sight. It is one of the world’s bestselling air weapons with over 2 million sold worldwide. Marketed as an introductory rifle for plinking, hunting and firearm training as a replacement for the BSA Cadet, it is available in .177 (4.5 mm) and .22 (5.5 mm) calibre with standard or carbine length barrels. The spring and piston are compressed by breaking the barrel through 125° before loading a pellet directly into the breach. The barrel is then returned into place and secured with a detent lock. The single-stage trigger is adjustable for pressure. The sights are metal with the front sight being able to be switched from a bead to a blade and the rear adjustable sight could switch between a "V" and "square notch". The cylinder has two shallow grooves to accept a telescopic sight. The top of the barrel is stamped ‘BSA GUNS LTD ENGLAND’ followed by a BSA piled arms symbol and the air chamber is stamped ‘BSA METEOR’ to the fore of the scope grooves. The serial No N20821 is on the underside of the action. The rifle is in very good condition, with a nice aged patina to the bluing. The stock is nicely aged showing signs of use *see images*. **RARE**1906-1907 Lincoln Jeffries Patent B.S.A. Improved Model .177 Calibre Underlever Air Rifle With Correct Pistol Grip Stock Presented By BSA To ‘The Reading & District Air Rifle League Season Winners 1906-7 Mitre ARC’. AI 900 - AI 900
This is a rare original BSA Improved Model presentation Air Rifle. These rifles were made between 1906 and 1907 (see Chapter 3 of The Book Of The BSA Air Rifle by Milewski). It has its original pistol grip wood stock with correct chequered panels on the grip. The stock is impressed with BSA’s piled arms trademark and is stamped ’14 ¼’ (inches stock length). The wood has light bumps and bruises consistent with age and use. It has a steel butt plate. One side of the stock has a nice engraved presentation plate which is illustrated in image 1. The cocking arm is the bayonet type and has the correct Lincoln Jeffries patent. The loading tap lever has ‘P.Pat’ and correct improved model loading aperture and tap. It has a 19 ½” rifled barrel. The bore is clean with typical light rifling. It has a blade foresight and adjustable dial rear sight. The metal work has even patina throughout. The left side of the weapon bears serial number 12670. Number 2259 is on the underside of the barrel. The cylinder has BSA manufacturer detail correctly without reference to improvement. 1931- 1939 Accles & Shelvoke Ltd .177 Calibre Side Lever Warrior Air Pistol. AI 673 - AI 673
In the 1930's, Accles and Shelvoke Ltd of Birmingham manufactured 'Acvoke' Air Pistols and Slaughterhouse Weapons. Between 1931 and 1939 the company produced their Warrior Air pistol. This is a good original .177 calibre example of the Warrior. It measures 8" overall with a 7" rifled barrel. Its blue finish which has areas of wear and light pitting consistent with age and use. It is side lever loading & has a bead foresight & adjustable rear sight. Its black chequered vulcanite grips are undamaged with just small areas of surface wear and have Accles and Shelvoke 'Medieval Helmet' roundels. The grip strap is stamped with serial number '2728'. The left side of the frame is faintly stamped 'THE WARRIOR ACCLES & SHELVOKE LTD, BIRMINGHAM'. The right ' F.CLARKE'S PATENT No's. BRIT 351268 USA 538057'. BSA Cadet Major Air Rifle .177 Post War 1955-1957. AI 680. - AI 680
A nice BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) Cadet Major air rifle in .177. Dimensions, overall length:42”. Stock length: 684mm. Barrel length: 468mm. Weight: 2.5kg. Earlier stocks on both models had a cross grain strengthener in the grip and the rear trigger guard screw held the action to the stock, sometime around 1948 this changed to a more traditional locking stock bolt. The Major comes with an adjustable rear sight. See ‘The Collectors Guide To Air Rifles’ pages 35-38 by Dennis.E.Hillier. This example is still retains its original blueing. The serial number is printed on the left hand side at the very rear of the cylinder: CC25509 which dates the gun between 1955 and 1957. The wooden stock is in excellent condition. The barrel blueing is a little worn underneath due to cocking, but the rest of the metal retains the majority of its colour. A lovely gun for the collector.
