**RARE**Cold War Era Post 1947 Czechoslovakian ‘tgf’ (Zbrojovka Brno), VZ-47 (German K98) 4.5mm BB Repeating (20 Shot) Bolt Action Military Training Air Rifle. Sn 23484:30 - 23484:30
Fashioned on the 98K Mauser, manufactured at the Czech Government Arsenal of "CESKA ZBROJOVKA," this is a Czech Army military training air pellet gun. Introduced in 1935 as the Vz.35 Air Rifle these were cheap to use, silent and ideal to break in raw recruits to move onto actual firearms. In 1947 the simplified Vz.47 was introduced, which was cheaper to produce, as it removed extra features like the bayonet lug, and utilized many more stamped steel parts. The machined parts of the Vz.35 were much more labour intensive. This example has a serial number of 06301 stamped on the top of the receiver under the 'tgf' which indicates contract for the DDR (East Germany) by Zbrojovka Brno, a maker of small arms, light artillery, and motor vehicles in Brno, Czechoslovakia. It also made other products and tools, such as typewriters and early computers. The rifle's overall length is 109cm and weighs just under 4kg. The stock is wood and has the usual use related marks. The rifle shoots 4.5mm calibre balls which are loaded via a folded sheet metal cover that just slides back to reveal the loading port, which holds 20 balls. To cock the rifle you rotate the bolt handle straight up where it interfaces with another part of a longer lever when pulled back. The bolt is pivoted at its base and rocks inside the action, pulling the powerful mainspring into full compression. The metalwork has a nice aged patina with no apparent damage. It is complete with its rear open adjustable sight and open front foresight. It cocks and fires with no issues and the swivelling safety catch on top of the action works as it should. The price for this rare piece includes UK delivery. NB as a post 1939 Air weapon the restrictions of the Crime Reduction Act apply to the sale & delivery of this item. Sn 23484:30

SOLD SOLD (23/06) **VERY RARE** ONE OF 2000**Cased, 1946 -1949, British Abas Major 2nd Type (A.A. Brown & Sons) .177 Calibre Air Pistol With Correct Smooth Brown Plastic Grips & Accessories. Sn 23484:24 - 23484:24
A.A. Brown & Sons were established in 1930 at Whittall St in Birmingham and mainly concentrated on making sporting guns but towards the end of the thirties and during WW2 they were producers of weapon components and machine tools. After the war both work and the necessary materials to continue with their normal line of work dried up and the company were scratching around for things to enable them to survive. This inspired them to produce an air pistol entirely of their own design which was marketed as the “Abas Major” (the name Abas derived from the initials of the company name). One of only three English air pistols that use a tap loader, the Abas Major was produced between 1946 & 1949. Only 2000 Abas Major’s were manufactured. The underlever (trigger guard) cocking air pistols were produced in three variations which can be identified by the grips. The first model had walnut grips, the second model had smooth plastic grips and the final model had chequered plastic grips. Although work like this helped the company though a difficult period, they soon returned to their normal product line and were a renowned manufacturer and customiser of high quality sporting guns. This is an excellent original example of the 2nd pattern Abas Major with correct smooth plastic grips in .177 calibre. The pistol retains its original blue finish and the grips are undamaged. It has a blade fore sight and adjustable rear sight. The top of the cylinder has the correct loading port marked ‘Load’ and the correct thumb operated loading lever which has a hole for pellet gauge. The right side of the cylinder is marked ‘Abas Major’. The front of the cylinder has ‘.177’ calibre. The trigger guard lever is stamped ‘Abas’. The grip frame is stamped with serial number ‘916’ (of 2000). The pistol loads and fires correctly. The pistol comes with its associated custom-fit faux leather covered wood, baize-lined case. The case contains an oil applicator and a vintage Webley .177 pellet tin which contains a quantity of lead pellets. The case has a carry handle, hinged lid and clasp fasteners. The price for this very rare air pistol includes UK delivery. NB As a post 1939 air weapon the restrictions of the crime reduction act apply to the sale and delivery of this item. Sn 23484:24

**RARE** Pre WW1 Junior Or Boy’s Pattern 1913-1914 BSA .177 Calibre Underlever Air Rifle With Pistol Grip Stock & ‘S’ Prefix Serial Number. Sn 23421 - 23421
This is a rare to find pre WW1 BSA Junior Or Boy’s Pattern Air Rifle. These rifles along with Pre war Standard models were only made on a short production run between 1913 & 1914 replacing the improved Model D in 1913. Production ended in 1914 as BSA’s machinery was understandably required for war work. The Standard Pattern was re-introduced in 1919 (see Chapter 6 of The Book Of The BSA Air Rifle by Milewski who describes pre WW1 rifles as scarce). Our example has the correct Pre WW1 variant features I.e. 1910 sear safety patent ‘Pat-30338-10’ above the ‘S’ prefix serial number S80639 on the trigger block, No cylinder markings, no BSA logo panels within the wrist chequering & BSA’s patents on the underside of the correct cocking lever with correct side lever catch (in 1912 BSA acquired Lincoln Jeffries Patents and the BSA name replaced Lincoln Jeffries). A period BSA advertising poster illustrated on page 61 of Milewski’s book illustrates the 1914 range of BSA air rifles including a pistol grip stock Junior Or Boy’s Pattern the same as ours. It has a 15 ½” rifled barrel the underside numbered ‘326’ (just over 37 ½” overall), a pinched blade foresight and period 2 leaf rear sights. The metal work has even patina. It has a steel butt plate. The breech is marked ‘Load’ and has BSA’s pyled arms trademark. The underside of the stock is impressed 13 ¼” (stock length). The rifle loads, cocks & fires correctly. The price for this rare pre WW1 BSA air rifle includes UK delivery. Sn 23421
