Excellent WWII US Navy/Marine Corps AN6540-3s Summer Flying Helmet with Full Wiring Looms. 20977. - 20977
United States Marine Corps Summer flying helmet with ‘USMC’ insignia to the front left hand side made from khaki cotton with black rubber earphones, chamois padding on the inside of the earphones and buckle chin strap with chamois chin pad. Manufacturer's tag with embroidered gold lettering sewn in back inside of helmet (see page 297 of Vintage Flying Helmets by Mick J. Prodger’ for similar. The ear-cups are in good order and a pair of ANB-H-1 receivers present, loom is in good order, and a ‘NAF.215285-2’ jack plug is fitted. The ‘doughnuts’ are in excellent order. The badge sewn into the interior reads ‘Size Medium Contract No-N288s – 27405’ SLOTE & KLEIN, Inc.’. The stitching is in very good condition *slightly loose around face*. The leather buckles and chin strap are very clean and tidy. The helmet comes with display head as shown in the pictures. The price includes UK delivery. 20977.

This is an excellent original WW2 1943 dated 2nd Pattern British Paratroopers Jump Helmet and WW2 British Parachute Regiment Red Beret found together. The 2nd pattern helmets were manufactured during 1942 and 1943 and mainly worn by Paras who saw action in Italy, Normandy, Arnhem & Germany (see page 92 of For King & Country By Glenn). 2nd Pattern helmets featured a manganese steel shell and leather chin strap. This helmet has the correct 2nd Pattern features and retains most of its original olive green finish. It has no dents. It is complete with liner & leather chin strap with chin cup. The leather sweatband is date stamped '1943' together with manufacturer's mark 'BMB' and size '7 1/8'. The helmet is fitted with original Camo net. The Red Beret is in very good condition with all material clean. The beret has a few small old stable moth holes but is completely intact. It is mounted with original correct metal KC Para Regiment badge. There are no maker or date marks on the beret or badge. The beret is approx. UK size 7. WW1 1918 U.S Army Model 1917 Trench Combat Helmet (British Brodie) By F.MHS Co With Oil Cloth Sweat Band & Correct Riveted Chin Strap Bales Fitted With Original Leather Chin Strap. HE 345 - HE 345
The Brodie helmet is a steel combat helmet designed and patented in London in 1915 by John Leopold Brodie. A modified form of it became the Helmet, Steel, Mark I in Britain and the M1917 Helmet in the U.S. American troops were issued with M1917 helmets to deploy in France late in 1917. The United States government initially purchased some 400,000 helmets from Britain. From January 1918 the U.S. Army began to use helmets manufactured in the U.S. and these helmets were designated M1917. This is an excellent, original, WW1 U.S. Army M1917 combat helmet. It has its original textured olive paint in excellent condition. It has its correct small rivet at the crown and chinstrap bales attached with rivets rather than split pins found on British Brodie helmets. It is fitted with its original black oil cloth liner ink stamped with maker and date detail ‘F.MHS Co Oct 1918’ and has ‘8 above OSH’ mark (F.MHS Co is a known maker mark found on M1917 helmets). It also has its original paper instruction label at the crown (illustrated) next to impressed size ‘7 1/8’ on the leather crown strap. The M15 Adrian helmet (French: Casque Adrian) was a combat helmet issued to the French Army during World War 1. It was the first standard helmet of the French Army and was designed when millions of French troops were engaged in trench warfare. This is an excellent original WW1 M15 French Adrian Combat Helmet complete with its original sweatband liner. The helmet has original chin strap bales & leather chin strap & is fitted with its original Infantry 'RF' (République Française) helmet badge featuring an ignited grenade and crossed cannons. An original WW1 MK II 1918 Pattern British Brodie Steel helmet. It has most of its original textured olive paint & no dents. It has its correct small central copper rivet at the crown and chinstrap bales attached with correct split pins. The rim is correctly rolled and it is fitted with its original black oilcloth liner with red ink 'Brodie' manufacturer's stamp. The inside of the rim has period hand applied paint initials 'GWP' most likely the initials of the soldier issued with this helmet in WW1. It has its original brown leather chinstrap with buckle. WWI era K.R.R.C (Kings Royal Rifle Corps) Officers ‘Pith/Tropical’ Helmet and Tin. 20678. - 20678
The pith helmet, also known as the safari helmet, salacot, sola topee, sun helmet, topee, and topi is a lightweight cloth-covered helmet made of sholapith. The pith helmet originates from the Spanish military adaptation of the native salakot headgear of the Philippines. It was often worn by European travellers and explorers, in the varying climates found in Southeast Asia, Africa, and the tropics, but was also used in many other contexts. It was routinely issued to European military personnel serving overseas in hot climates from the mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century. This ‘Pith’ helmet is covered with khaki cloth with a khaki pugree, dark green inside with a manufacturers label ‘Hobson & Sons (London Ltd) (Hobsons began their uniform business close to Woolwich Barracks, South London, England. Clothing and Regimental Regalia were made for all members of the armed forces using traditional tailoring and handcraft techniques. Hobsons business grew to such an extent that by 1860 five shops were open in and around the Woolwich area. Their expertise and reputation for quality was rapidly established among customers, particularly the locally based Royal Artillery)’ with vent *missing chin strap and internal sweatband (see page 109 item 194 of ‘Military Headress’ by Colonel Robert . H. Rankin. For similar). To the front of the helmet is the K.R.R.C helmet badge (the King's Royal Rifle Corps was an infantry rifle regiment of the British Army that was originally raised in British North America as the Royal American Regiment during the phase of the Seven Years' War in North America known in the United States as 'The French and Indian War’. Subsequently, numbered the 60th Regiment of Foot, the regiment served for more than 200 years throughout the British Empire. The helmet is accompanied by its original travel tin. The hinge, handle and clasp are in good working order *the vent to the top is showing signs of service wear but is not damaged. The tin has a nice aged patina. The helmet is a size ‘7’ *see images. *SOLD*20/3*Victorian Home Service British Officers Blue Cloth Helmet Of The 1st Volunteer Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment To Captain W.A. White By Hobson & Sons London With Original Transit Tin. Sn 11251 - 11251
The West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) (14th Foot) was an Infantry Regiment of the British Army. In 1958 it amalgamated with The East Yorkshire Regiment (15th Foot) to form The Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire. On 6 June 2006 The Regiment was amalgamated with the Green Howards and the Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding) to form the Yorkshire Regiment. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Volunteer Battalions of the West Yorkshire Regiment sent companies to the Boer War and were granted the battle honour South Africa 1900–02. Captain W.A. White of the 1st Volunteer West Yorkshire Regiment was obviously a successful career Soldier and an entry in the London Gazette dated January 24th 1905 records Lieutenant-Colonel W.A. White as resigning his commission and being granted the Honourary rank of Colonel. This is an excellent Victorian Officer's spike topped pre 1902 Home Service blue cloth helmet of the 1st Volunteer Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. It has a metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. The front of the helmet bears the original Queen’s Crown 1st Volunteer Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment plate with correct lug mounts. The helmet is complete with leather and cloth sweatband and stitched panel lining. The crown has a superb manufacturer's label outlined in gold leaf 'Hobson & Sons 37 & 38 Little Windmill Street Haymarket London W’ (illustrated inset in image 2). The helmet is approx UK size 6 1/2. The helmet is contained in its original tin transit case with hinged lid & carry handle. The lid has 2 excellent brass plates one a manufacturer’s with Queen’s Crown and detail ‘Hobsons & Sons Military Outfitters’ together with Haymarket address and ‘No. 41,43 & 44 Artillery Place Woolwich’. The other plate is beautifully engraved to ‘Captain W.A. White 1st W.R. Yorkshire Rt’. The tin has some traces of its original Japanned finish. This helmet and tin have been recently acquired from a collector who has had this item in their possession since 1936. A letter from a family member of the last owner explaining some of the features of the helmet & tin accompanies this piece.
