WW2 1943 & Post War 1947 Dated Italian, Carcano M1891/41 Fascist (XX) & Royal Army (RE) Marked Armaguerra Cremona Factory Terni Arsenal (FAT) 6.5mm Calibre Rifle.**VERY EARLY UK 1993 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED** Sn 20067:36 - 20067:36
The Carcano M1891 rifle gave excellent service throughout the First Word War where Italy participated on the Allied side, fighting mainly against Austria. The reliability of the weapon convinced Fascist Italy to re commence manufacturing the Infantry rifle during WW2. The rifle was designated the Carcano M1891/41 Rifle. Aside from a more compact rear sight, standard non-progressive rifling, and a barrel slightly shorter than the older infantry rifle, the 1941 adaptation was little changed from the WW1 era weapon. The M1891/41 rifle was manufactured at the Terni Arsenal (aka Terni, FAT) and in Northern Italy at the Armaguerra Cremona factory. This is an excellent original example of the M1891/41 Rifle used during WW2 and post war. It's wood stock and metalwork are excellent and undamaged. It is equipped with original cleaning rod, sling swivels, bayonet lug, flip up rear sight, blade fore sight & steel butt plate. The breech is crisply marked 'Armaguerra Cremona' together with '1943' date and 'XX' (Fascist marking). The breech is also stamped with 'Crown RE' Royal Army stamp, other inspection marks and '6.5mm' calibre detail. The stock is impressed with Terni Arsenal 1947 ‘FAT 1947’ & inspection marks. The rifle is serial number QD348 which is stamped on the barrel and wood. Deactivated to very early UK specification in 1993 the weapon cocks and dry fires. The Mosin–Nagant is a five-shot, bolt-action, internal magazine-fed, military rifle, developed by the Imperial Russian Army in 1882–91, and used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other nations. The Plant manufactured Mosin Nagant rifles during WW1 & WW2 along with AK47 assault rifles and other arms for the Russian War effort. The Plant produces arms for the Russian Military today. This is an excellent WW2 dated Mosin Nagant sniper rifle with scope as seen in the hit film ‘Enemy at the Gates’ (a 2001 war film written and directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and based on William Craig's 1973 nonfiction book Enemy at the Gates: The Battle for Stalingrad, which describes the events surrounding the Battle of Stalingrad in the winter of 1942 and 1943. The film's main character is a fictionalized version of sniper Vasily Zaytsev, a Hero of the Soviet Union during World War II. It includes a snipers' duel between Zaytsev and a Wehrmacht sniper school director, Major Erwin König). A contemporary image of WW2 Russian Soldiers in the field wearing arctic warfare camouflage, one carrying 91/30 sniper rifle the same as ours is illustrated in the images.
