This set of 5 books are all from the reserve stock of the Imperial War Museum library which were released recently. They comprise of 1920 dated volumes 1 and 2 (with 19 plates on guns and ammunition including the canister round) on Tank Gunnery, Training and War with rubber stamps Staff College Library 1920. A 1914copy of Field Artillery training with a pencil reference to II (G) Artillery. A 1914 copy of Garrison Artillery Training Volume 1 to a T.H.F. Parks, R.G.A. (Special reserve) O et 1914 and a 1925 dated copy of Machine Gun Training with 4 amendments to 10th January 1930. This is a scarce book, the bible for collectors of WW1 British Ordnance. Printed in 1972 it has never been reprinted and is the only comprehensive book listing all British Artillery with images, ammunition, lists of fuses, cases and colour codes used during WW1. This is an essential work of reference. The book has 255 pages, hundreds of plates and is printed on quality paper. It measures 8 1/2 inches x 11 inches. Set Of 6 Official H.M.S.O. Books And Pamphlets From The Imperial War Museum Library. Sn. 13084:12 - 13084:12
These sets of books are all from the library of the Imperial War Museum library which were released recently. They comprise a hard back copy of Infantry Training 1937 (Training and War). This covers all aspects of infantry training including weapons, drill, battle procedure, patrols etc. The book is signed on the inside cover C.E.E.Scott. Also included is a rare illustrated pamphlet with photographs plates of Infantry Training Volume 1 Skill at Arms – Shoot to Kill. This is an original H.M.S.O. restricted issue of 1975 and is not a copy. With this volume comes 3 pamphlet amendments from 1976, 1980 and 1981. These volumes comprehensively cover all aspects of weapons and shooting including L.1.A.1. rifle, Browning 9mm pistol, S.M.G. and G.M.P.G./L.M.G.. There is also a copy of Infantry Training Volume III, Ranges and Courses which covers rules and matches of the army and T.A. rifle associations. This volume is another H.M.S.O. restricted publication from 1973 and carries a small rubber stamp “IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUMS WITHDRAWN FROM STOCK”. Set Of 3 Sword And Bayonet Books. BO 1064 - BO 1064
This set comprises the revised edition of Brian Robson’s classic work on Swords of the British Army (The Regulation Patterns 1788 to 1914). The original appeared to great acclaim in 1975 and in the intervening years, the author has researched and revised his work so that this 1996 edition has now become the standard work. It covers all the regulation patterns from 1788 to 1914 and is profusely illustrated. Also included is a copy of World Swords 1400 – 1945 by Harvey J.S.Withers and covers all the most important swords from all the major countries. It is illustrated in colour and has a brief description of each sword with close up shots of the blades, hilts etc. There are over 2,000 full colour photographs making it an indispensable reference work. There is also a copy of An Illustrated History of Bayonets by Martin J.Brayley. This is also illustrated in colour and black and white with over 500 photographs of 300 bayonets. This has become one of our standard reference works in the office. This book covers some bayonets not found in other works. This is a valuable set of works on edged weapons. Small Family Collection of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Items. Sn. 13084:11 - 13084:11
This is a small collection of items form a family comprising an R.A.A.F. aerial dead reckoning computer Mark 1 manufactured in the 1930s by W&G of Melbourne for the Australian military. ( A printout of an identical item is included. A R.A.F.pilots flying manual from 1949, rubber stamped to the title page ‘TECHNICAL LIBRARY No 1 B F T S R.A.A.F. Uranqunity N.S.W.. There are also 5 other items namely a pocket fold out of silhouettes of aircraft ‘Air Ministry RESTRICTED October 1951’, a glossary of flying, a photo book of Jets of the R.A.F Series 1, a Selas picket signal reminder and an empty R.A.A.F. aircrew check lists folder. This is an accumulation of one mans service from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. There is also a wireless licence from May 1930 to a Charles Bailey which may give a slender lead to further research. An interesting set. The price includes Sn. 13084:11 £125

This is a superb record of the recipients of the D.S.O. from its institution in 1886 to 1923 with descriptions of the deeds and services for which the award was given with many biographical and other details. This is a reprint of the original parts one and two from 1924. The book has now been made into one volume by J.B.Hayward and Son in 1978. Haywards are the medal specialists and as such this volume is invaluable to both medal collectors and researchers of family history etc. the book is I excellent condition and includes U.K. delivery. There is Collectors Grade Publication ‘CROWN JEWELS The Mauser in Sweden. A Century of Accuracy and Precision’ by Dana Jones from 2003 relating to the Swedish Mauser rifles. The volumes are fully illustrated and detailed work of the Swedish M94 Mauser rifle in all its variations, including sights, bayonets, cartridges, sniper and target versions etc.. These books are a comprehensive work in excellent condition. The other volume is ‘The Swedish Mauser Rifles’ by Kehaya and Poyer published by North Cape Publications in 1999. These two books are well respected works covering many different rifles and carbines. SOLD SOLD (15/02) Set Of 4 Official H.M.S.O. Books From The Imperial War Museum Reserve Stock. Sn. 13084:7 - 13084:7
This set of books are all from the reserve stock of the Imperial War Museum library which were released recently. They comprise Field Service Regulations Volume 1 (Organization and Administration) 1930 and Field Service Regulations volume 2 (Operations – General) 1935. Both of these manuals carry the name of Capt. J.W.Gibson. There is also a copy of the Army Manual of Hygiene and Sanitation 1934 with a rubber stamp to the front of 32 Reserve M.T. Company R.A.S.C., 12 June 1941. This volume also carries three Imperial War Museum rubber stamps and a withdrawn from stock stamp. The final volume is a Manual of Driving and Maintenance for Mechanical Vehicles (1937). This is a nice W.W.2 period set with scope for further research of the named and dated volumes. Original Set Of British Army Field Service Regulations Vol 1 And Vol 2 dated 1909 And Manual Of Field Engineering, 1911, Including Two Pencil Written Note Forms From The Front Lines And A Pillow Receipt All Dated 1917. (From The Imperial War Museum Reser - 13084:6
These three volumes were purchased from the Imperial War Museum reserve stocks which were recently released. Several volumes have the I.W.M. stock stamp. The set comprises a Field Service Regulations Vol 1 and Vol 2, 1909. Part one has rubber stamps for O.C. 3rd Line Depot. 8th Mid. Divn, Train plus numerous Imperial War Museum Stamps. However also with this volume are 2 pencil written messages to 2nd Lt. Lowles from 2nd Lt. Tattersall from the front lines regarding movements and observations from the front lines dated 11th June 1917. Also included is a receipt dated 12/5/17 to a Lt. Lowles for a pillow from a supplier in Tonbridge. The other volume is a copy of a Manual of Field Engineering dated 1911 also profusely stamped with Imperial War Museum stamps and withdrawn stock stamps. These are an excellent set with their original red cloth covers, complete with period advertisements and with provenance from the Imperial War Museum with the added bonus of the contemporary notes and names which should give scope for further research.
