DEACTIVATED INERT. This is an armour piercing.round for the French 25 mm S.A. Mle 1934 anti-tank gun introduced in the 1934 on a wheeled carriage. This round consist of a copper sheathed projectile crimped in the brass cartridge case and is headstamped CN 38 R (1938) I . The brass primer is stamped D.B.S. 32-38 (1938) . The base of the projectile will have a small slit that will not be visible on the complete round to destabilise the projectile if fired. DEACTIVATED INERT. This is a scarce unfired WW2 Japanese Type 96 (25 x 163) high explosive anti-aircraft gun round that was the standard Japanese medium anti-aircraft gun used in the Japanese navy and army in WW2. The gun was a French Hotchkiss design adopted by the Japanese and was used in single, twin and triple mounts with a 15 round box magazine. This round has a brass cartridge and the headstamp consists of a Japanese character and an anchor together with E S 2 over 18 . The brass primer has an anchor stamped on it. The projectile has two copper driving bands and retains much of its original red/orange paint. The projectile is fitted with a brass impact nose fuse which is stamped 7AOB and a circular monogram that looks like CE within two circles. The tip of the fuse has five small holes manufactured in it in the shape of a cross. No licence is required to possess inert rounds in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a British 30mm Rarden (30 x 170) Drill round for the 30 mm Rarden cannon fitted to the Warrior, Scimitar and Fox armoured vehicles in the British army. The round was developed in the 1970s from the WW2 Hispano-Suiza 831L aircraft cannon round and shares the same cartridge case dimensions by Royal Armament, Research and Development Establishment and Enfield. The round was issued in three round steel clips with a handle at the bottom for loading. This round is made of solid steel and is chrome plated for a durable service finish and has a red rubber primer protector. There are two rounds available. They are both headstamped 30 MM AFV L1A1 DRILL. One round is headstamped RG 74 (Radway Green 1794) and the other is headstamped FHS 86 (? 1986). Rare, WW2, 1944 Dated 2cm Flak (20x138B) 100 Round Tin Lined Ammunition Box For ammunition in cardboard tubes. O 1343 - O 1343
This is a rare WW2, 1944 dated tin lined wooden ammunition box to contain 100 rounds of 20mm (20x138B) ammunition for the Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun. The rounds were originally contained in disposable cardboard tubes, one of which is illustrated. The substantial lid to the wooden box has two metal hinges and two locking closure clasps. The ends of the box have two recessed metal folding carrying handles fitted. The box measuring 67 x 26 x 21 cm in size and retains much of its original green painted finish and its original waterproof tin liner which has traces of solder on it used to retain the tear off lid. The box has metal screwed on reinforced corners to all of the corners. The front of the box has the remains of two paper labels, one stuck on top of the other which would have been done when the box of ammunition was re issued. Both ends of the box are stencilled in large letters 2 cm. There are two paper labels inside the lid box. The first refers to 100 rounds of 2cm Sprenggranat-Patron (high explosive) ammunition and the other label refers to the fuse (A.Z.1502) and the tracer. This label is dated 24 Jan 1944. The lid is also stencilled Gepruft Abn, (checked) and handwritten in ink 75 Schuos gezahlt any 4.4.44.. (75 shot (rounds) paid (received?)). The lacquered steel cartridge case is percussion primed and retains about 60% its original finish. The headstamp is edq (Munitionsfabriken AG, Luebeck-Schlutup) 36a 42 Waffenampt 66 . The armour piercing tracer projectile has a copper driving band and retains some of its original black finish. INERT DEACTIVATED. This is an early 1976 American drill round for (30x173) GAU-8 7 barrelled Gatling aircraft gun fitted to the Republic A10 tank buster aircraft, produced from 1977 and is capable of firing 4,200 rounds per minute. The alloy cartridge case has an orange lacquered finish and is stenciled in white 30MM over PGU -16 over P/N 400/05 over AOMC AJD 31-1 over DATE 8-76 (August 1976). The gold lacquered steel projectile has two nylon driving bands and appears to have a dummy alloy fuse. The dummy fuse is stenciled in black AJD-30-2-76 . There are two crimp rings at the case neck.
