INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a short range target practice discarding sabot/tracer (SRTPDS-T) APDS/T projectile L7 tank gun. This is a 105mm Short-Range Target Practice Discarding Sabot/Tracer (SRTPDS-T) APDS/T (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot/Trace) projectile for the L7 Tank gun and consists of a lightweight penetrator, fitted inside a light alloy sabot or sheath. Upon firing, the sabot is discarded and the reduced calibre projectile with trace carries on to the target. This projectile was made in the Royal Laboratories in June 1987 and carries all of the blue original paint and stencilling. The sabot is stamped 105MM TK PRAC DS 8/87 SX 149 GE RLB. DEACTIVATED INERT. This is an original British 1977 dated 105mm (105x617R) APDS/T (Armour Piercing, Discarding Sabot/Trace) round for the British L7 105mm tank gun used on the British Centurion tank. This gun replaced the Centurions 84mm 20 pounder gun and has also been used in the German Leopard and early American M1 Abrams tanks. The APDS/T (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot/Trace) projectile consists of a tungsten core sheathed in steel, fitted inside a light alloy sabot or sheath. Upon firing, the sabot is discarded and the reduced calibre projectile carries on to the target. This projectile carries most of its original black paint and is stencilled in white on the alloy sabot 105 MM TK G APDS SX606 GF . The brass cartridge case has the correct crimp for the sabot projectile and is headstamped 105MMTK RW244 1977 (date) LOT7 and a crowfoot, RLB (Royal Laboratories).the cartridge case is also stencilled ZA541 in black near the rim. The hollow casing has a black painted body with yellow band and alloy nose plug. The war head has markings HEAD PRACTICE 3.25 LBS NO 1 MK H.E.S GD-3-60 RA2/3070/10 SER NO 247 , stencilled red EXPTL (Experimental) . It is also stamped P5/10772 over RLB (Royal Laboratories) 8/58 (August 1958) LOT 4. The rocket is fitted with an alloy No942 Mk1 nose fuse stamped PRF No942 MK1 . ( There were a pair - now 1 x remaining) This is an unfired French 37mm (37 x 277R) naval rounds for the Modèle 1925 and Modèle 1933 37mm 37/50SA anti-aircraft gun used extensively by the French navy during World War 2 and before. The gun was a hand loaded, semi-automatic weapon which gave it a slow rate of fire. The later Modèle 1933 was a twin mounted gun which was also hand loaded. Both were hand-loaded, semi-automatic guns with a low rate of fire compared to its clip-fed contemporaries. The brass cartridge cases are headstamped 37-1925So Bx 16.5.27 (May 1927 date) and 37-1925So B 10.10.33 (October 1933 date).
