WW1, 1917 Dated & WW2 Italian, Carcano Model 1891 (M91) Terni Arsenal Bolt Action Rifle. Sn 11393 - 11393
Carcano is the frequently used name for a series of Italian bolt-action military rifles and carbines. Introduced in 1891. The rifle chambered for the rimless 6.5×52mm Mannlicher-Carcano cartridge was developed by the chief technician Salvatore Carcano at the Turin Army Arsenal in 1890 and designated the Model 91 (M91). Successively replacing the previous Vetterli-Vitali rifles and carbines in 10.35×47mmR, it was produced from 1892 to 1945. The Carcano M1891 rifle gave excellent service throughout the First Word War where Italy participated on the Allied side, fighting mainly against Austria. The reliability of the weapon convinced Fascist Italy to re commence manufacturing the Infantry rifle during WW2. This is an excellent original example of the M1891 Rifle. Its wood stock and metal are all original. It is equipped with swivels, bayonet lug and steel butt plate. The breech is stamped 'Terni' (Arsenal) and dated '17' (1917). It strips, cocks & dry fires as it should. Price includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery. Sn 11393
