WW1 1915 Imperial German Mauser G98 Butcher Bayonet By Simson & Co Suhl & Scabbard. Sn 9995 - 9995
An original, WW1 Imperial German G98 Butcher Bayonet and Scabbard. The 14 ½” single edged blade with fuller which widens towards the point has staining consistent with age but no rust. The ricasso is crisply stamped by the manufacturer 'Simson & Co Suhl'. The back of the blade is faintly stamped 'Crown W' & dated '15' (1915). The bayonet has a steel swept quillon, correct 9 groove dark wood grips and steel pommel with press button release catch which works as it should. It is complete with original leather scabbard with steel mounts. All leather and stitching are intact. Price includes UK delivery. Sn 9995

German Airship Battalion M1884/98 Bayonet, Scabbard and Leather Frog. Bayo 157 - Bayo 157
This is one of the bayonets issued to Airship Battalions in 1910 for use with the M98 rifle. They were made utilising blades of the M71/84 bayonets and were designated M84/98. Two types of blade with long and short fullers were used and all of the ones seen have been dated 1887, 1888 or 1889. This one has the crown over "W" over "88" denoting 1888 and was made by 'C. G. Haenel Suhl'. It has short fullers. The crossguard is stamped with the number "9.R.9.98". The scabbard is black leather with steel mounts and the top mount is stamped with "45.R.1.221.". German K98 Sawback Dress Bayonet By J.A. Henckels, Scabbard and Frog. Bayo 145 - Bayo 145 / 12028
This is a scarce dress bayonet which has a working press stud and slot to fit a rifle. The blade is marked with the Manufacturers logo and name "J. A. Henckels Zwillingswerk" and an image of the 'Dancing Twins' above. There are no military or other markings on the bayonet. The grips are black chequered plastic held by three rivets. The crossguard is the standard, curved upwards on one side and the pommel is the standard birds head type. The scabbard is all steel, painted black and the frog is the cavalry type. A Nazi Engineer/Pioneer M98 dress bayonet and scabbard. The dress sidearm for military and civilian uniformed formations was designated the M98 Dress Bayonet. This bayonet represented a stylised form of the S. 84/98 bayonet purchased by the individual for wear with the walkout dress uniform and was worn by the mainly non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel. This early dress bayonet has a rifle mortise and push button release. It retains the red felt in the mortise slot. This is the long version of the Engineer or Pioneer model of the M98 Dress Bayonet with a 9 3/4" blade which carries the makers logo of Emil Voos. It has "Emil Voos Solingen" etched on the ricasso. The plated steel blade is in excellent condition. The grips are chequered and secured with two screw bolts. It has a metal scabbard with lozenge shaped frog stud. German Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser 'Butcher' Bayonet By Joint Makers Henckels & Anker-Werke Bielefeld, Complete with Steel Scabbard. Bayo 61 - Bayo 61
A 1917 German Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser 'Butcher' bayonet. This is a very nice condition original Imperial German Pattern 1898/05 'butcher' bayonet and scabbard for the Gew. 98 Mauser Rifle. This is the later model with a trimmed muzzle ring and fitted with a flash guard. It has the scarce makers mark of Anker-Werke Bielefeld on one side of the ricasso and the twins of J.A. Henckel's on the other. According to Anthony Carter in his book, 'German Bayonets' the models 98/02 and 98/05, the two makers worked in conjunction with each other and that Henckel's sent blades to Anker-Werke to be finished. This bayonet also has the crown over "W17" on the back edge of the blade. This is referred to by Carter in his book as being the only example with a date and both trademarks. The blade is clean and the grips are the original 9 grooves and show normal use marks. The steel scabbard is also original and in good order with just a couple of very minor dents as to be expected. WW1 Imperial German Model 1888/98 Ersatz Bayonet And Scabbard. BAYO 39 - Bayo 39
An original, excellent, example of a WW1 German Ersatz M88/98 bayonet with solid steel hilt. It has a half hoop, one piece stepped muzzle ring. (see page 143 & 153, No. 338 of The Bayonet Book by Watts & White). It has a 12 1/4" fullered blade which has just light staining consistent with age and is complete with it's original steel scabbard. The throat of the scabbard has a fixed locket and oval frog stud. WW1 German M88/98 All Steel Construction Ersatz Bayonet & Steel Scabbard. BAYO 17 - BAYO 17
A WW1 German M88/98 Ersatz bayonet and steel scabbard (see item 338, page 153 of The Bayonet Book By White & Watts). The all steel construction bayonet has a polished steel single edged blade with sharpened back edge point & central fuller. The blade measures 12” in length. It has a steel one piece cross guard with open muzzle ring. The back of the blade has a small inspection mark. The steel pressed steel grip has an oil hole near to the cross guard. It has a push button bayonet release which works correctly. The grip retains some original green paint. It is complete with its steel scabbard which has a tear drop frog stud.
