A Collection of WW1 Portuguese Leather Cavalry Belt Carried Equipment Consisting of A Document / Map Pouch, Sword Frog With Pick Axe Carrier Attachment & Combination Helve Carrier / Pouch. Sn 15861 - 15861
This 3 piece collection of original WW1 Portuguese Leather Cavalry equipment was found in a cache of equipment in France. The set consists of A Document / Map Pouch, Sword Frog With Pick Axe Carrier Attachment & Combination Helve Carrier / Pouch. The pick axe attachment on the frog has an axe head cover with flap cover and stud fastener joined by a leather strap which has a pyramid shaped leather attachment at the other end for the spike end of the pick axe. Both the pyramid shaped attachment and the axe head cover are lined with sheet metal to protect the leather. The helve carrier pouch is correctly holed for the helve shaft and has internal compartments for ammunition or field equipment . RARE, WW2 1944 U.S. Army Marked Leather Jeep / Motorbike, Bucket Holster For M1 Carbines Stamped ‘ENS’. Sn 15860 - 15860
This is a rare, WW2 1944 dated Leather Bucket / Holster For M1 Carbines. The U.S. Army attached these buckets to Jeeps, motorbikes and all other vehicles to carry the M1 Carbine safely. It is made of thick brown leather and has brass rivets, leather straps with buckles and sprung clip. The bucket is open top with correct recess to fit the cocking lever of the carbine. The recess is correctly reinforced with a figured brass plate riveted to the leather. The bucket has sturdy reinforced stitched edges. The leather is impressed with ‘1944’ date together with ‘US’ (Army), indistinct letters and other letters ‘E.N.S’ (most likely a manufacturer mark). An excellent, original WW2 Holster for Walther P 38 Semi Automatic Pistols. This black leather holster has all leather and stitching intact. It has a full flap cover with single retaining strap which is secured by a single stud fastener on its quick release flap. The holster has a single magazine holder on the outside of its front aspect, the top of which is covered by the holsters top flap when closed. The rear of the holster has 2 single belt loops and it is impressed 'P 38' together with crisp Nazi manufacturer's code 'fkx' which is Gustav Sudbrack, Lederwaren u. Gamaschenfabrik, Bielefeld. All of the stitching is present and intact. On the inside of the holster it retains the leather 'pull' strap and Luger maintenance tool pouch with flap cover and stud fastener. The outside of the holster has a nice original patina and just areas of light service wear. All of the stitching is in good secure condition. On the inside of the holster it retains the leather 'pull' strap and Luger maintenance tool pouch with flap cover and stud fastener. The inside of the holster lid is impressed by the manufacturer ‘A. The belt is fitted with an excellent .455 calibre MK VI service open top revolver holster with retaining strap and stud fastener. The rear of the holster has the correct stitched cleaning rod loop. The belt is also fitted with an excellent original ammunition pouch with flap cover & stud fastener. The buckles, leather & stitching of all components of the rig are intact. These holsters were issued to British machine gun crews during WW1. Our example is in near mint, un-issued, condition. The holster has its original brass cleaning rod contained in a slim pocket at the rear. Above the cleaning rod pocket the leather is crisply stamped "094" and War Department arrow. The rear also has a stitched leather belt loop. The holster has it's original retaining strap with eyelet and brass stud to the body. All stitching and leather are clean and intact.
