German S84/98 nA Bayonet By E. Siepmann & Co Solingen, Scabbard and Leather Frog. Bayo 165 - Bayo 165
This is the newly made version of the S84/98 bayonet with a flash guard and not a conversion. It was made by 'E. Siepmann & Co Solingen' and carries the Crown over "W" and "17" denoting Prussian ownership and manufacture in 1917. The back edge of the blade has an inspection stamp as does the tip of the scabbard. John Walter in his book 'The Sword and Bayonet Makers Of Imperial Germany 1871-1918' states that Siepmann markings have only been found on S98/05 bayonets. However Anthony carter in his monumental book 'German knife & Sword makers' states that a few S84/98 bayonets were assembled or finished during WW1 and that surviving examples are all dated 1917. This is a scarce maker rarely encountered on the collectors market and in excellent condition. The price includes UK delivery. Bayo 165

It is complete with the correct black steel scabbard and original black leather frog.
